STICKLERS 2.5mm CLEANCLICKER 750 Fiber Optic Cleaner Performance Verification Report OptiTap Style Connectors SCOPE: This report documents the Sticklers 2.5mm CLEANCLICKER 750 fiber optic cleaner at removing heavy levels of skin oil, dryer lint, 91% isopropyl alcohol, and ISO Fine Test Dust (aka Arizona Road Dust) from the end faces of OptiTap style connectors on a drop assembly and with the connector loaded in the adapter housing. TEST PROCESS SUMMARY: 1. Capture base image 2. Apply Contamination TEST EQUIPMENT: Viavi Solutions P5000i ferrule scope Viavi Solutions FiberChekPRO software OptiTap style drop and in port adapter TESTING NOTES: 3. Inspect & capture image 4. Single push engagement of the cleaner 5. Inspect & capture image Pass? No Sticklers performance verification testing process requires us to use established industry accepted inspection software set to the pass/fail criteria of. Sticklers used the Viavi FiberCHEK PRO software set to to eliminate human subjectivity in the pass-fail evaluation process. Sticklers applied heavy to sever levels of each test contaminate to simulate a worse case scenario an optical network s connector could be exposed to in the field. Yes 6. Inspect & capture image Page 1

Test Inspection Set Up Inspection Software Example TESTING NOTES: The report images provides a high magnification view with a 400X magnification to provide the reader the best view of the connector s contact region. The test was repeated three times for the drop assembly and for the in adapter. Page 2

Skin Oil Test Set Up TESTING NOTES: Skin oil was applied by touching the connector end face to the finger tip of the tester. This was done to simulate accidental contact with an installers finger tip during an installation. The in adapter connector was done by touching the drop assembly connector to the tester s finger tip and loading it into the adapter. Page 3

Dryer Lint Test Set Up TESTING NOTES: The dryer lint was applied by touching the connector end face to the dryer lint mass. This was done to simulate the type of contamination that would result from wiping a connector on an installers clothing. The dust the accumulates on equipment cooling fans and in HVAC systems is very similar to dryer lint in texture and composition. The in adapter connector was done by touching the drop assembly connector to the dryer lint and loading it into the adapter. Page 5

ISO A2 Fine Test Dust Test Set Up TESTING NOTES: The ISO A2 Fine Test Dust was applied by touching the connector end face to the a sample of the fine test dust on a optical grade wipe. The ISO A2 dust was selected for our test because is common test dust used by the companies in the air quality and liquid filtration industries.the particles sizes range from 0.97μm up to 176μm. This was done to simulate the type of dust contamination generated in connector wear debris and the fine dust that is the air. The in adapter connector was done by touching the drop assembly connector to the wipe with the fine test dust and loading it into the adapter. Page 8

91% Isopropyl Alcohol Test Set Up TESTING NOTES: The 91% IPA was applied by touching the connector end face to an optical grade wipe that was moistened and allowed to dry. The 91% IPA was selected because alcohol by mature is hygroscopic which means it attracts water molecules. If an installer uses a 99% IPA in a container that is not hermetically sealed, the alcohol will eventually become diluted over time as the moisture from the air is pulled into the container. Alcohol is humid areas will become diluted at faster rate. The 91% IPA was selected to simulate the problems that an installer would have who is using IPA and a paper based wipe in the field. The in adapter connector was done by touching the drop assembly connector to the wipe with the fine test dust and loading it into the adapter. Page 11
