It is the responsibility of the attendee to contact Trane if a confirmation is not received prior to the course date. CANCELLATION POLICY: We realize that work schedules must be flexible. If your schedule changes you may request in writing by mail, fax, or , a substitution for another course, or cancel your registration, up to five (5) business days prior to the start of your scheduled course. Cancellations received at least five (5) days prior to the program are refundable. Substitutions & cancellations are subject to a $25 registration service charge. If you do not notify us in writing five (5) business days before the course, or don t attend, you are still responsible for payment of entire course fee. Course substitutions must be used within that year and cannot be rolled over to the next. Dates listed are subject to change based on instructor availability. We will notify you in advance if this happens. We reserve the right to cancel any course if minimum course size is not obtained. In the event of a cancellation, you will be contacted regarding a new date or your money will be refunded in full. Our liability will be limited to the return of the registration fee. DISCOUNTS: Are available as follows: 5% discount for four (4) or more individuals attending the same classsame day-same company. 5% discount for one individual attending three (3) classes in one week. 4 Air Conditioning Service This is a comprehensive, entry-level air conditioning service course. It concentrates on essential refrigeration knowledge that all HVAC technicians must eventually possess in order to perform competent HVAC service work. After attending, technicians should have acquired knowledge in tool usage, basic system theory, metering devices, system problem identification, superheat, sub-cooling, piping, evacuation and recharging techniques. DATE(S): March 19th & 20th 2018 (Two Day Training) INSTRUCTOR: Trane University $ includes all materials & lunch HVAC 8.0 Trade Pipefitter 8.0 Trade Sheet Metal 8.0 Trade Sprinklerfitter 8.0 Core Applied Math, Thermodynamics & Physics After a brief review of working with whole numbers, fractions, decimals and signed numbers the course covers working with equations in practical applications. Practical examples are used to describe working with ratios, proportions, weights and measures. Covered are: Basic geometry, measurements, basic laws of physics, physical mechanics, energy, pressure, mechanical devices and mechanics of solids. Thermodynamics coverage includes: basic thermodynamics, laws of thermodynamics, thermal conductivity and physical relationships with gases. Coverage of energy sources and its use include: combustion, electricity and fossil fuels. DATE(S): March 2nd 2018 HVAC 4.0 Core Pipefitter 4.0 Core Sheet Metal 4.0 Core Sprinklerfitter 4.0 Core Automation & Controls This one day training class helps to serve as a basic concept class on building automation and DDC controls. The components are identified as the class goes from a basic stand- alone system to gradually more involved systems and finally the capabilities of total building automation systems. The various controllers are discussed along with their capabilities and uses. Who should attend? Owners and contractors who will come in contact with small free standing systems and those who operate them. Summit is touched on but not covered in individual depth. 5 Basic Refrigeration After an overview of a typical refrigeration cycle, there is a discussion on how various problems impact the operation and pressures in the refrigeration system. The changes to the trade resulting from EPA regulations are covered, including refrigerant phase-out and their typical replacements, working with blends and R-410A, service procedures to meet the new regulations, procedures for using the new refrigerants and oils, and the new machine room requirements. Typical service procedures are covered, including using the manifold gauges, T-P chart, leak detection, seasonal startup, pumping the system down, refrigerant recovery, pressurizing the system, evacuation and adding refrigerant. DATE(S): February 9th 2018 March 23rd 2018 HVAC 4.0 Trade Pipefitter 4.0 Trade Sheet Metal 4.0 Trade Sprinklerfitter 4.0 Core Boilers & Safety Controls Operation & Maintenance The operation and components of boilers, burners, combustion safety devices and low-pressure steam and hot water heating boiler fittings are described. Common steam and hydronic heating systems are described along with procedures to initially startup and maintain them. Testing and maintenance step-by-step procedures are covered including ASME CSD-1 requirements. Job aids are provided to assist technicians with tasks associated with most combustion safety control testing. DATE(S): February 7th 2018 March 21st 2018 HVAC 4.0 Trade Pipefitter 4.0 Trade Sheet Metal 4.0 Trade Sprinklerfitter 4.0 Core Building Systems This course will give the attendee a basic knowledge of the various mechanical systems common to commercial buildings, including details on common control setting and component operation. It starts by covering the need for building zones, then covers low-pressure steam and hot water boilers, the refrigeration cycle and common refrigeration applications, useful psychrometric principles, basic and multiple zone air handlers and their common control strategies and heat recovery, characteristics of common fans, closed system pumps and compression tanks. The training process is enhanced by instructor demonstrations of system component cutaways. 6 CenTraVac Operation & Maintenance Owners Only Course This course will provide a high level overview of Trane centrifugal chiller operation/maintenance. The course will help technicians and/or operators understand chilled water systems. Maintenance technicians will benefit from coverage on maintaining machine design performance. Specific course objectives Understand Trane centrifugal chiller operation. Use operating logs to recognize normal operation and how abnormal influences affect chiller operation and performance Learn capabilities of particular chiller designs. Recognize problems that reduce efficiency and damage equipment Introduction to Trane centrifugal chillers with microelectronic control panels Familiarize with centrifugal chiller terminology. HVAC 8.0 Trade Pipefitter 8.0 Core Sheet Metal 8.0 Core Sprinklerfitter 8.0 Core Centrifugal Chiller Air Conditioning The course covers a refrigeration cycle overview, centrifugal chiller operation and maintenance, air handles systems, chilled water piping systems, and some control strategies. After a review of the basics of the refrigeration cycle, basic centrifugal units and the operation and maintenance of centrifugal chillers; the course covers the basic air handler cycles and their controls, multiple-zone air handles and chilled water piping systems. 7 Electrical Schematic Reading for HVAC This course promotes the concept of troubleshooting and repair of systems using schematics and wiring diagrams. With a focus on troubleshooting techniques and the concept of internal isolation, attendees participate in the recognition of components and circuits including diodes, capacitors, transformers, relays and more. The latest in ANSI diagrams is discussed, which includes understanding ladders, logic, keys and legends. Circuit board technology in troubleshooting the system will also be discussed. The course has 3 lab exercises covering using a schematic to identify faulty components, converting a line diagram to a schematic and making a schematic by tracing the system wires. DATE(S): February 6th 2018 March 20th 2018 HVAC 3.5 Core Pipefitter 3.5 Core Sheet Metal 3.5 Core Sprinklerfitter 3.5 Core Electrical Troubleshooting for HVAC After an overview of electric terminology, the attendee will learn the operation of various electrical devices used in HVAC systems and the procedures for troubleshooting them. It incorporates principles of relays and other switching mechanisms and covers the basic principles of reading schematic wiring diagrams. The attendee will become familiar with HVAC electrical devices and circuits and will be able to use this knowledge to troubleshoot electrical controls and electrical systems in order to repair them. This course has one lab exercise and several in which the instructor demonstrates troubles on commercial air conditioner/furnace system components and the students work in groups of 2 or 3 using a schematic to identify faulty electrical components. DATE(S): February 5th 2018 March 19th 2018 HVAC 3.5 Trade Pipefitter 3.5 Core Sheet Metal 3.5 Core Sprinklerfitter 3.5 Core EPA Refrigeration Certification Section 608 Review & Test This course has 3 parts: book home study, class PowerPoint-lecture overview and exam. It is designed to prepare the attendee for the exam. It covers procedures and government regulations associated with servicing refrigeration equipment and the recovery and recycling of refrigerants. It also familiarizes the attendee with the ozone depletion and refrigerants. A certification exam is given at the completion of the course. 8 EPA Refrigeration Regulation Review On January 2017, a group of new EPA refrigeration regulations went into effect. A few law changes started in 2017, a lot more in 2018 that mostly relate to substitute refrigerants and many more in 2019 affecting all nonexempt refrigerants. A major change is the documenting and record keeping requirements for service personnel and equipment owner/operators. This course covers these EPA regulation as they relate to operation, maintenance, service and repair of HVAC appliances in small and large buildings. It includes some examples of using these regulations. DATE(S): March 1st 2018 Pending Board Approval Intellipak Rooftops This one day class includes the construction of the entire unit along with the internals of the member components. Cooling cycle along with troubleshooting is discussed. A look at the Intellipak controls including the STATITRAC, VFD, GBAS and VOM controls. A description and setup of the Human Interface panel is covered. Finally a look at the unit wiring diagram rounds out the class. DATE(S): March 12th 2018 April 23rd 2018 INSTRUCTOR: Kyle Chapman HVAC 3.0 Trade Pipefitter 3.0 Trade Sheet Metal 3.0 Trade Sprinklerfitter 3.0 Core Preventive Maintenance for Building Systems This course prepares attendees to better understand the preventive maintenance needs for building mechanical systems including: air handlers, low-pressure boilers, package and split air conditioners, chillers and cooling towers. Included are discussions on the use of operation logs, check sheets, procedure/process description sheets and other quality tools to improve the process and to make it easier. This course prepares attendees to start a preventive maintenance program or to better operate an existing program. It emphases the reliability centered maintenance approach of using a combination of several maintenance strategies to reduce total maintenance costs while still keeping the equipment running in top shape. 9 ProSpace VRF Certified Installation & Start Up This training will provide participants with an in-depth understanding of the installation of Trane s Variable Refrigerant Flow (VRF) systems. Additionally, an in-depth functional study of the system is conducted as well as thorough discussion over the theories associated with properly applying, installing and commissioning a Trane VRF system. DATE(S): March 21st & 22nd 2018 (Two day training) INSTRUCTOR: Trane University $ includes all materials & lunch Pending Board Approval RTAC Rotary Chiller Service Owners Only Course This course covers operation, diagnosis and maintenance for Trane model RTAC rotary chiller CH530 micro electronic control system with additional coverage of refrigeration system components. Emphasis will be placed on operational characteristics of the GP2 compressor, Falling Film evaporator and E-coil design condenser. Additional coverage provided for chiller operation using unit ANSI Trane wiring diagrams with emphasis on understanding the Adaptive control system logic. Tracer CH530 control architecture and components will also be discussed. This course is primarily classroom oriented. 10 Tracer Ensemble Operation Owners Only Course Tracer Ensemble Operation is specifically designed for building operators and administrators to become more efficient with their Tracer Ensemble software which is a web-enabled service and monitoring tool for multiple building facilities. Tracer Ensemble allows building operators and administrators access to Tracer Ensemble from the local network or the Internet to monitor and control their building system. Students will have the opportunity to work with the Tracer Ensemble software to become more familiar with commons tasks. Specific Course Objectives Upon completion of this course, participants should be able to: Create user roles and user profiles Navigate Tracer Ensemble Buildings Use override control to manipulate building systems Make changes to building schedules Manage building alarms Log data Create custom reports Set up Tenant Services Use Critical Control to limit access in Tracer Ensemble Prerequisites Tracer Ensemble Operation is intended for building operators and owners with Tracer Ensemble. 11 Variable Frequency Drives Class consists of drive hardware and theory of operation, A/C drive characteristics, wiring and installation. Startup and troubleshooting along with preventative maintenance. The course will cover general VFD theory of operation that is not vendor specific. Also discussed will be service and troubleshooting of the Trane Danfoss and Square D Altivar 58 and 66 drives. Class is for owners, contractors and maintenance personnel. DATE(S): March 15th 2018 April 26th 2018 INSTRUCTOR: Kyle Chapman HVAC 3.5 Trade Pipefitter 3.5 Core Sheet Metal 3.5 Core Sprinklerfitter 3.5 Core Varitrac & VAV Systems This one day class is designed to promote understanding of VAV and the concept of air movement. It discusses the different concepts in equipment and design. Program introduces the systems, valves, control and the zone control. Early pneumatic styles up to the electronic boards are covered. VARITRAC covers the newer style of boxes along with the electronic controls used with them. Varitrac is used to turn small constant volume commercial systems into VAV. Varitrane and Varitrac boxes are used in both configurations. Class is designed to instruct the owner or contractor s personnel in the operation and service of the equipment. DATE(S): March 14th 2018 April 25th 2018 INSTRUCTOR: Kyle Chapman HVAC 3.0 Trade Pipefitter 3.0 Trade Sheet Metal 3.0 Trade Sprinklerfitter 3.0 Core Voyager & Precedent Rooftops This one day (8 hour) seminar combines the light and medium sized commercial equipment Trane offers. Class discussion will cover the general layout of equipment and how this range of equipment is suited for VAV. We will also spend time on the important aspects of compressors, burners, micro electronic control and common FIOPs offered for each piece of equipment. The new E-flex systems will be covered as well as the effects of the high efficiency Micro-channel coils.
