8 Giacomini Introduce State of the Art Heat Meters Giacomini s new state of the art GE556 range of satellite heat meters provides tenants in flats, apartments or multi-dwelling buildings with the ability to control and monitor their heating and sanitary water consumption to meet their individual needs. Designed for use where zoned heating is provided from a central boiler house, these versatile and advanced heat meters deliver major benefits to both tenants and landlords through significant energy savings and reductions in emissions. For the tenant, the key advantage is that they know their bill is linked directly to their personal consumption. For the landlord, the key advantage is the facility, through a special interface fitted within the unit and the use of the latest standardised M-Bus communications, to remotely monitor and analyse the energy consumption of both individual users and the overall system. Supplied with hot water from a central boiler house, each Giacomini unit is effectively a combi boiler without combustion. Fitted with a plate heat exchanger for the provision of heating and a secondary plate heat exchanger for domestic hot water production, all components are installed in a durable zincplated casing supplied with fittings for easy wall mounting. The heating unit is fitted with a 2/3 way zone valve, which can be supplied with a 24V or 230V motor. The GE556 utilises a volumetric meter with a single jet turbine for accurate measurement of energy usage. 9 Data Centralization The direct reading of measured data is possible on each metering device thanks to an analogical or digital display. However where metering units are installed in common areas or even outside apartments this may not conform to tenant s privacy agreements. In addition direct reading of individual meters takes time, is subject to inevitable mistakes and imposes the installation of metering units in positions easy to access. For these reasons, Giacomini metering modules and satellites are provided with metering devices fitted with a special interface for M-Bus communication, the European standard for remote reading of energy meters. The data is detected electronically and can be sent via the communication bus; a concentrator periodically interrogates all M-Bus devices to collect consumption data and make them available locally or remotely for sharing and analysis. Data reading becomes fast, convenient and possible at any moment, even if the tenants are out.
