7 Which Convoluted Hose is the Right One? PureFlex offers three types of convoluted fluoropolymer hose for general chemical transfer. All three are available with either stainless steel or polypropylene (UltraFlex is available unbraided) 1. ProFlex Seamless PFA Hose - Good It is the lowest cost per foot of the three. It is suitable for all chemical, steam, and high temperature oil or air applications It is suitable for full vacuum applications up to 2 ID at 70 F It can NOT be carbon filled for anti-static applications It can NOT flared, it must use PFA encapsulated fittings It can be easily fabricated by crimping on any of our end fitting configurations It is available for distributor fabrication It is NOT suitable for the handling of food or any other applications that requires FDA approval 2. MultiFlex Seamless PTFE Hose Better It is the mid-range cost per foot of the three. 9 Ultraflex Makes Excellent Vent Tubing UltraFlexible Convoluted PTFE Vent Tubing The exceptionally tight bend radius and low force required to deflect this flexible tubing make it the product of choice for chemical cent lines, vapor recovery ducting, gravity fed drains and industrial vacuum applications. Manufactured from either virgin FDA approved PTFE for high purity applications or carbon filled PTFE where static dissipation is required. 11 UltraFlex "Stripy" Hose has Many Advantages UltraFlex "Stripy" Hose was developed specifically for those applications that require static dissipation but where there are concerns that the carbon black may contaminate the process fluid. Extruded simultaneously two thin strips of anti-static PTFE are embedded in the virgin PTFE convoluted tube, thus reducing the fluids contact with the carbon black by as much as 90%. These anti-static stripes prevent an electrical charge building up while transferring certain fluids. UltraFlex "Stripy" Hose is available with 316 SS braid, polypropylene braid or bare tube for vent lines and sizes range from ½ ID to 3. 15 PureFlex Offers an On-Line Hose Certification Program With this program, the unique PureFlex serial number that is permanently marked on the hose assembly is broken down into its components. From our web site you select the test report number or hose lot number of those components to get copies of the actual material test reports PureFlex receives from its raw material suppliers. Further PureFlex records when the CL2 hose assembly is shipped. PureFlex then notifies its customers when the assembly should be inspected and/or replaced. 19 PureFlex Offers Braid Reinforcement Options PureFlex convoluted PTFE hoses can be reinforced with two types of braid reinforcement. Both stainless steel and polypropylene help protect the tube from external damage, increase working pressures and offer a measure of kink protection. Both are suitable for most industrial applications but do offer different features and benefits the end user should be aware of. Stainless Steel Braid Offers: Higher working pressures per size (see attached specification sheet) Higher maximum useable temperature (450 F vs 250 F) Better abrasion resistance Good chemical compatibility Can be used outside in direct exposure to sunlight Polypropylene Braid Offers: User friendly, polypropylene when frayed will not cut the operators hand Will not puncture convoluted PTFE liner With virgin PTFE tube the final assembly is electrical isolating Is compatible with fluids that will attack stainless steel (HCL & salt water)
