Merry Maids # 372/373/458/946/947 J.R. Nichols Company, Inc New Employee Training Day 4 Script Module 6 Bathrooms Slide 1 The last room you ll learn to clean is a bathroom. Slide 2 Most homes have more than one bathroom and perhaps a half bath with a sink and toilet but no shower or tub. Slide 3 A bathroom is the most difficult room to clean in a home. There are ten steps to cleaning it but only three are new. Soak has been added after pick up and straighten. Major appliances is dropped from the steps used in a kitchen, but two new steps have been added after sink: shower or tub and toilet. Slide 4 Note to trainer: Say aloud the ten steps to cleaning a bathroom. Then have the trainee say the steps with you. Finally, have the trainee say the steps alone. Give the trainee time to look at the steps and try to learn them. Slides 5-10 Note to trainer: Make sure the trainee correctly identifies the missing steps. Slide 11 To avoid shattering a light bulb, remember to wipe light fixtures only when they are cool to touch. Keep the lights off or turn off the lights and let them cool before wiping them. Slides Note to trainer: Instead of telling a trainee how to clean items already discussed in previous modules, have the trainee share this information with you. Add appropriate comments as necessary. Slide 14 Vacuum up any hair around the toilet or in the shower/tub but only if the area is dry.
Slide 15 Roll up any small rugs and place them so they are out of the way. Slide 16 Remove any items from the shower or tub. You ll replace them after the area is cleaned. Lay these items on a cloth placed on the floor. Also place your tote tray on the cloth to prevent spills or damage to the bathroom. Slide 17 If counter items are messy, neatly arrange them. Place items in groups, such as hair products together. Slide 18 Soak is a new step in a bathroom. There are several items that need to soak for three to five minutes before cleaning them. Squirt Toilet cleaner around the inside rim of a toilet above the water line. Slide 19 Next spray shower walls, fixtures, and floor with Multi-Surface cleaner. If heavy soap buildup is present, use Soap Scum instead. Remember to wear eye protection to avoid getting product in your eyes. Slide 20 You ll also need to let a tub soak by spraying it with Multi-Surface cleaner or Soap Scum. Slide 21 What needs to soak? Slide 22 (Answer may include inside toilet, shower walls, floor, and fixtures, and tub. Could also mention to squirt Toilet cleaner around the inside rim of a toilet above the water line. Use Multi-Surface cleaner in a shower or tub unless heavy soap buildup is present. Then use Soap Scum. Remember to wear eye protection to avoid getting product in your eyes.) Slide 23 How would you clean a light fixture above a bathroom mirror? Slide 24 (Answer may include to wipe with a blue microfiber cloth sprayed with Glass cleaner. Could also mention to wipe light fixtures only when they are cool to touch. Keep the lights off or turn off the lights and let them cool before wiping them.)
Slides Note to trainer: Let the trainee explain these slides which were covered in previous modules. Look for spots on cabinets such as toothpaste or powder residue. Slide 28 Dust any towel racks and toilet paper holder. Slide 29 Use a pink microfiber cloth and Multi-Surface cleaner to wipe a vanity. Remember also to pick up each counter item, such as a soap dispenser or cotton ball jar, and wipe underneath it as well as the item itself. A Little Chizler can be used to lift dried makeup and other buildup. Slides Note to trainer: Let the trainee explain these slides which was covered in previous modules. Slide 32 Carefully wipe a wall mirror as hairspray, toothpaste, and other spots may be on the glass. A Little Chizler can be used to remove any buildup. Remember to check for streaks by looking at the mirror from an angle instead of straight across. Slide 33 You may find a hand or makeup mirror on a vanity. Clean this as you would any glass. Slide 34 Cleaning a sink in a bathroom is similar to cleaning a kitchen sink. First, scrub the sink with a pink microfiber cloth and Multi-Surface cleaner. For stubborn stains, use a microfiber scrubber cloth or pink sponge with a little Scrub N Shine and warm water. A Little Chizler or grout brush can be used to lift any buildup or to scrub around the drain and fixtures. Slide 35 Be sure to rinse the sink thoroughly to remove any product or loose dirt. Slide 36 Next buff the fixtures with a pink microfiber cloth. Make sure there are no water spots. Slide 37 Lastly, dry the sink.
Slide 38 How would you clean a wall mirror? Slide 39 (Answer may include to wipe with a blue microfiber cloth and Glass cleaner. Could also mention to check for streaks and hairspray, toothpaste, or other spots. Use a Little Chizler to remove any buildup.) Slide 40 How would you clean a sink? Slide 41 (Answer may include to scrub the sink, rinse it, buff the fixtures, and dry the sink. Use a pink microfiber cloth and Multi-Surface cleaner. Could also mention to use a microfiber scrubber cloth or pink sponge with a little Scrub N Shine and warm water for stubborn stains. A Little Chizler or grout brush can be used to lift buildup or scrub around the drain and fixtures.) Slide 42 How would you clean a vanity? Slide 43 (Answer may include to wipe with a pink microfiber cloth and Multi-Surface cleaner. Pick up each counter item and wipe underneath it as well as the item itself. Could also mention to use a Little Chizler to lift dried makeup and other buildup.) Slide 44 Shower or tub is another new step in cleaning a bathroom. Many homes have a separate shower and a tub in the bathroom. You already have sprayed these in the soak step. You will clean a shower or tub similar to a sink. Glass cleaner is used to clean any shower glass. Slide 45 First, scrub the shower or tub. For stubborn stains, you may need a microfiber scrubber cloth or pink sponge, a little Scrub N Shine, and warm water. A scrub brush or grout brush can also be used to lift any buildup or scrub the walls, floor, grout, or around the drain.
Slide 46 Next scrub the fixtures. A scrub brush or grout brush can help. Don t forget the soap dish as soap buildup is often found here. Slide 47 Clean the shower door track as buildup accumulates here. Use a grout brush to loosen the dirt, and then wipe the track with a pink microfiber cloth. Slide 48 Be sure to rinse the shower or tub thoroughly to remove any product or loose dirt. A rinsing cup can help, but pour water slowly from the cup or the water may splash onto your clothing. Slide 49 Next buff the fixtures with a pink microfiber cloth. Make sure there are no water spots. Slide 50 Dry the shower or tub. You should now be finished with a tub but will still need to clean any shower glass. Slide 51 Clean both the inside and outside of shower glass with a pink microfiber cloth and Glass cleaner. Note to trainer: Some offices apply a small amount of Lemon Oil on the inside of a frosted glass shower door. This procedure can reduce soap scum from building up. Show how this is done when training in a home. Slide 52 Lastly, return any items removed from a shower or tub area. Slide 53 How would you clean a shower? Slide 54 (Answer may include to scrub the shower walls, scrub the fixtures, clean the shower door track, rinse the shower, buff the fixtures, and dry the shower. Then wipe both the inside and outside glass, and return any items removed. Could also mention to use a pink microfiber cloth (and Multi-Surface cleaner or Soap Scum previously sprayed during the soak step). For stubborn stains, you may need a microfiber scrubber cloth, pink sponge, a little Scrub N Shine, and warm water. A scrub brush or grout brush can also be used to
lift any buildup or scrub the walls, floor, grout, fixtures, or around the drain. Use a grout brush to loosen the dirt in a shower door track, and then wipe with a pink microfiber cloth. A rinsing cup can help rinse, but pour water slowly from the cup or the water may splash onto your clothing. Use a blue microfiber cloth and Glass cleaner to clean both the inside and outside of shower glass.) Slide 55 The last new step in a bathroom is the toilet. You already have squirted Toilet cleaner in the toilet during the soak step. Now you ll need a toilet brush, pink microfiber cloth, Multi-Surface cleaner, and a grout brush. Slide 56 Scrub the inside of a toilet with a toilet brush. Make sure to scrub around the inside of the rim as well as in the throat of the toilet. When finished, flush the toilet twice. Place the toilet brush back in its holder. This keeps from spreading germs to other surfaces or leaving water drips that may cause stains. Slide 57 Next wipe the outside of a toilet tank with a pink microfiber cloth and Multi-Surface cleaner. Slide 58 Wipe both sides of the toilet seat and lid. Slide 59 Next wipe the seat hinges. You may need a grout brush to remove any buildup. Slide 60 Lastly, wipe completely around the toilet base. While cleaning the base, wipe the floor around it. Check the water shut-off value, hose, and any toilet base screws. Slide 61 There are two new customer pleasing items in a bathroom, besides the four things done in every room. You ll v-fold the toilet paper the same way you v-fold paper towels in a kitchen. When training in a home, you ll learn how easy it is to do. Slide 62 Next neatly fold any hanging bath towels (except towels that might be wet). Three-fold the towel and then hang it on the towel rack. Lastly, 3-fold any wash cloth or hand towel and hang it over the bath towel..
Slide 63 Note to trainer: Let the trainee explain this slide which was covered in previous modules. Slide 64 Be sure to vacuum any small rug but don t replace it until after washing and drying the floor. Slides Note to trainer: Let the trainee explain these slides which was covered in previous modules. Slide 70 When the floor is dry, replace any small rugs. Slide 71 How would you fold hanging towels? Slide 72 (Answer may include to 3-fold the towel, hang it on the towel rack, and then 3-fold any wash cloth or hand towel and hang it over the bath towel.) Slide 73 How would you clean a toilet? Slide 74 (Answer may include to scrub the inside of a toilet with a toilet brush, flush the toilet twice, wipe the outside of the tank, both sides of the seat and lid, the seat hinges, and completely around the base. Could also mention Toilet cleaner was squirted in the toilet during the soak step. Place the toilet brush back in its holder to avoid spreading germs to other surfaces or leaving water drips that may cause stains. Wipe the toilet with a pink microfiber cloth and Multi-Surface cleaner. You may need a grout brush to remove any buildup. If there are splatters on the floor around the toilet base, wipe this area as well.)
