6 Section 2 System Overview The SALUS Wireless System uses the Zigbee 3.0 communications protocol to provide a universal language for smart components to work together seamlessly and securely, with or without an internet connection. 8 Section 2 System Overview The AC10RF Coordinator uses Zigbee communication protocol to connect all system components, providing wireless communication easily and securely without connecting to the internet. 9 Section 3 Device Installation SALUS components must be set up for wireless communication with the SG888ZB Gateway or with the AC10RF Coordinator. This process, called pairing, should be performed with all devices installed in their intended location. If the intended operating location is unsuitable for the pairing process due to convenience or other factors, the device may be moved to a convenient location during pairing. Once the device is paired and installed in its intended location, check the operation to make sure there are no issues with RF interference that will prevent it from operating correctly. SG888ZB Gateway Installation Install the SG888ZB Gateway in a central location close to a 120 VAC electrical receptical and free from radio frequency interference. If you intend to connect the system to the internet, the gateway should be close to your internet router. 1. Confirm that all required parts are present in the Gateway package: Gateway with port cover, Ethernet Cable, USB Power Cable, USB Power Adapter and Installation/Quick Start Guide 2. Remove the port cover from the bottom of the Gateway by twisting it ¼ turn counterclockwise LOCK UNLOCK 3. If connecting the SG888ZB Gateway to the internet, attach the ethernet cable and the power cable to the gateway only, making sure it is within reach of a router or ethernet connection a. For best results, DO NOT CONNECT the power cable to electrical power outlet until after ethernet cable is attached to the Router b. If no internet connection is intended, it is not necessary to attach the ethernet cable to the Gateway 4. Reattach the port cover on the Gateway 5. Connect the ethernet cable to the Router if desired 6. Plug the USB Power Cable into the USB Adapter and connect it to a 120 VAC outlet 3.1

When the SG888ZB Gateway powers up, the lighted ring around the multi button will be solid green. The light will then turn red. Once an internet connection is detected (if plugged into a router) the light will turn green. Using the internet connection, the SG888ZB Gateway will try to connect with the SALUS Smart Home services. If successful, the light will turn blue. Connected to SALUS Smart Home services. 11 Section 3 Device Installation AC10RF Coordinator Installation Install the AC10RF Coordinator in a centrally located 120 VAC electrical receptacle. Alternatively, if using this device with an AKL08RF Zone Valve Wiring Center, there is a USB port in the chassis of the Wiring Center. 1. Connect the AC10RF Coordinator to the 120 VAC adapter. 2. Insert the adapter into a 120 VAC electrical receptacle and ensure that the LED ring at the button is illuminated. Prior to using the AC10RF Coordinator with an AKL01/04/06PRF Wiring Center, update the firmware version as follows: 1.Use a computer with an internet connection that meets the following requirements: COMPUTER PC Mac OPERATING SYSTEM Windows 8 or later OSX or later USB PORT Type A Type A 2. Connect to the SALUS Update Tool ( 3.Download and run the Update Tool by following the onscreen prompts 4. Insert the AC10RF Coordinator into a USB port on the computer when prompted to do so AS20WRF/BRF Digital Thermostat Installation SALUS components must be set up for wireless communication with the SG888ZB Gateway or with the AC10RF Coordinator. If the intended operating location is unsuitable for the pairing process for convenience or other factors, the device may be located in a convenient location during pairing. DO NOT Mount the AS20 Thermostat near any heat source, behind curtains, in direct sunlight, in areas of high humidity or area where water is present. 3.3

12 Section 3 Device Installation AVOID Mounting the AS20 Thermostat on an exterior wall. 1. Ensure that all required parts were included in the thermostat package: Thermostat with backplate, (4) AAA Batteries, (2) Mounting Screws, (2) Wall Anchors, Installation Instructions 2. Remove the AS20 Thermostat from the backplate by pulling out from the bottom Floor sensor 3. Connect an external 10 kω sensor (AFTS30M sold separately) if applicable Terminals are provided for a remote air sensor or floor sensor 4. Secure the backplate to the wall using the provided screws and wall anchors FOR BEST RESULTS, ensure that the backplate is level when mounting it. NOTE THE ORIENTATION ARROW molded into the backplate. This must be pointed upwards for correct mounting of the thermostat in (5.9944cm) 5. Insert batteries into the thermostat assuring correct polarity 6. Attach the thermostat onto the backplate by hooking the top connections and pressing firmly on the bottom. If the thermostat does not fully attach, make sure that the screws provided were used to attach the backplate and that they are snug. 3.4

13 Section 3 Device Installation AS20WRF/BRF Digital Thermostat Starting Sequence When the batteries are first installed in the AS20 Thermostat, the following starting sequence will occur. M12 A 1 ON OFF B PM Boot screen Display check The MCU software version (example only) The Zigbee software version (example only) The Thermostat is ready to be paired The starting sequence must be complete before pairing the AS20 Thermostat with the SG888ZB Gateway or AC10RF Coordinator, and other devices. 3.5

14 Section 3 Device Installation AKL01PRF Zone Pump Wiring Center Installation The AKL01PRF 1-Zone Pump Wiring Center pairs with an AS20 Wireless Thermostat via the SG888ZB Gateway or AC10RF Coordinator to provide a heat demand signal to the boiler and control a zone pump. The AKL01PRF Single Zone Pump Wiring Center must be installed by a qualified contractor. Installation and repairs are to be performed according to all national and local codes required by the authority having jurisdiction. In the absence of local requirements, follow ANSI/NFPA 70, National Electrical Code. Failure to follow these requirements may lead to severe personal injury, death or major property damage. DO NOT SERVICE this equipment without disconnecting the AC electrical power. 1. Carefully read these instructions and all instructions supplied with the unit before starting the installation. 2. Inspect the control for damage and be sure all required parts are included before beginning. 3. Remove 4 screws at the corners and lift off the plastic cover. 4. Check that the fuse installed is a 5A, slow blow fuse and that it is inserted correctly. 5. Attach the base of the AKL01PRF Zone Pump Wiring Center to a wall or similar vertical structure in a suitable location near the boiler and pumps using the hardware supplied. DO NOT INSTALL this control in an area where water leaks or spray are possible. Failure to comply may result in serious injury, death or major property damage due to electrocution or fire. Electrical Connections Dry Contacts (rated 120VAC, max.2a) XX Active Pump 120VAC Connections AC Line In L Zone Pump Line Out (max. 1/6 HP) N AC Neutral Earth Ground Fuse: 5A slow blow, 5x15mm (2AG) 6. BE SURE all electrical power to the device is disconnected before wiring the device. 7. Wire 120 VAC power to the L (Hot), N (Neutral) and (Ground) terminals labeled, POWER IN. 8. Wire the 120 VAC power output to the pump from L (Hot), N (Neutral) terminals labeled, PUMP. Connect the ground terminal to the POWER IN (Ground) terminal as shown in the wiring schematic. 9. Wire the output terminals labeled XX to the boiler thermostat input ( TT ). 10. Wire the thermostat contacts to R & W on the terminals labeled 24 VAC T-STAT. If a C wire is required connect it according to the drawing. 11. Reattach the control cover securing it with the 4 screws and switch on 120 VAC power to the unit. The LED labeled POWER will be illuminated. 3.6

15 Section 3 Device Installation AKL04/06PRF Zone Pump Wiring Center Installation The AKL04/06PRF Zone Pump Wiring Center pairs with an AS20WRF/BRF Wireless Thermostat via the SG888ZB Gateway or AC10RF Coordinator to provide a heat demand signal to the boiler and control a zone pump. They can control up to 6 pumps with outputs for multiple heat demands. The AKL04/06PRF Zone Pump Wiring Center must be installed by a qualified contractor. Installation and repairs are to be performed according to all national and local codes required by the authority having jurisdiction. In the absence of local requirements, follow ANSI/NFPA 70, National Electrical Code. Failure to follow these requirements may lead to severe personal injury,death or major property damage. DO NOT SERVICE this equipment without disconnecting the AC electrical power. 1. Carefully read these instructions and all instructions supplied with the unit before starting the installation. 2. BE SURE all electrical power to the device is disconnected before wiring the device. 7. Wire 120 VAC power to the L (Hot), N (Neutral) and (Ground) terminals labeled, POWER IN. For correct operation, it is important that the priority dip switch position matches the wiring configuration: - See Appendix A for schematic diagrams for typical installations - If priority is OFF, the Zone 1 Thermostat cannot be wired, only a wireless thermostat will operate Zone 1 - If priority is OFF, 120 VAC power must be supplied to the green ZC and N connections for the pumps to operate 8. Wire the 120 VAC power output to the priority zone pump from L (Hot), N (Neutral) terminals labeled, PRIORITY PUMP1. The priority zone is typically used for a domestic hot water (DHW) demand. 3.7

16 Section 3 Device Installation 9. Wire each successive pump to zone pumps as needed. Each ground terminal can support 2 ground wires for convenience VAC power output is also available for a primary pump depending on the hydronic circuit design. 11. Terminals XX are closed any time there is a thermostat call to the wiring center. These may be wired directly to the thermostat connection on the boiler TT. Note, that if an AX10RF Receiver (sold separately) is used and configured as RX1, the XX terminals aren t used. Priority Zone Function (Master wiring center only) When the PRIORITY dip switch is set to the ON position the following occurs: - Zone 1 pump is turned ON and all other pumps, including those on SLAVE wiring centers, are turned OFF - If the Zone 1 demand continues for more than 1 hour, the control will override Zone 1 priority and allow the other zone pumps to operate when a heat demand is present - Once the Zone 1 demand is satisfied, the priority override feature resets and a Zone 1 heat demand will, again, take priority over the other zones. 12. The terminals labeled Zone 1 E/S are powered any time the Zone 1 thermostat is closed, and the PRIORITY dip switch is in the ON position. These terminals are to be wired to the DHW demand input of the boiler to change the target temperature. Under these conditions, none of the other pumps will operate. Thermostat Connection If the priority zone is used on the AKL04/06PRF Wiring Center with a wired room thermostat that requires separate C terminal, it should be wired as shown in the drawing. For a DHW thermal switch, a contact closure across R & W will initiate a demand. 13. Reattach the control cover securing it with the 4 screws and switch on 120 VAC power to the unit. The LED labeled POWER will be illuminated. 3.8

17 Section 3 Device Installation AKL08RF Zone Valve Wiring Center Installation The SALUS AKL08RF Zone Valve Wiring Center connects with AS20WRF/BRF Wireless Thermostats via the AC10RF Coordinator or SG888ZB Gateway to control up to 32 actuators in 8 zones. It also provides power switching to a system circulator and a wired output for heat demand to a boiler. Note that the maximum total amp draw for the zone valve actuators is 3.3 amps. The AKL08RF Zone Wiring Center must be installed by a qualified contractor. Installation and repairs are to be performed according to all national and local codes required by the authority having jurisdiction. In the absence of local requirements, follow ANSI/NFPA 70, National Electrical Code. Failure to follow these requirements may lead to severe personal injury, death or major property damage. DO NOT SERVICE this equipment without disconnecting the AC electrical power. 1. Carefully read these instructions and all instructions supplied with the unit before starting the installation. 2. Inspect the control for damage and be sure all required parts are included before beginning. 3. Remove the cover by turning the screw to the unlock position ¼ turn. 4. Unscrew two screws in the black line voltage cover and remove it. 5. Disconnect the 24 VAC supply connection. 6. Unscrew two screws on the left side of the control and remove the white internal wiring base. 7. Attach the AKL08RF Zone Valve Wiring Center to the wall in the desired suitable location. DO NOT INSTALL this control in an area where water leaks or spray are possible. Failure to comply may result in serious injury, death or major property damage due to electrocution or fire. 8. Using appropriate wire connectors & strain relief fittings (not included) for the knock-out connections in the case, connect the 120 VAC power supply to the terminals provided. 9. Terminals 1 & 2 under the line voltage cover connect to a dry contact for the 120 VAC circulator. Voltage through this contact is not to exceed 250 VAC and the current is to be 10 amps or less. Press the clamp with a small screwdriver Insert the stripped wire end in the terminal Release the clamp Pull gently on the wire to make sure it is secure 10. Re-attach the white wiring base by inserting the tab on the right side into the base and securing it with the 2 screws on the left, making sure the power lines are not pinched. Use the grooves provided in the wiring base for managing the pump and boiler wires. They provide a path for wires under the wiring base to the case knock-out openings. 3.9

18 Section 3 Device Installation The boiler can be controlled wirelessly by the AKL08RF Zone Valve Wiring Center if an AX10RF Receiver, configured as RX1 (sold separately) is used with the system. However, if desired, the boiler s thermostat input terminals (TT or RT) can be wired directly to terminals labeled 3 & 4 on the Wiring Center. 11. If desired, connect wires from terminals 3 & 4 under the cover to the boiler thermostat (TT) connection to provide a boiler demand. Press the clamp with a small screwdriver Insert the stripped wire end in the terminal Release the clamp Pull gently on the wire to make sure it is secure 12. Attach up to 4 zone valve actuators to each zone by inserting the stripped wire ends into the round holes provided. To release a wire, use a small screwdriver to push the release mechanism next to each hole. Pull gently on the wires after they are inserted to be sure they are secure. Use the grooves provided in the wiring base for managing the valve wires. They provide a path for wires under the wiring base to the case strain relief openings. 13. Re-attach the 24 VAC supply connection. 14. Check the fuse by removing the fuse holder and making sure the correct fuse is installed (4A) 15. Re-attach the line voltage cover by inserting 2 tabs on the right side into the wiring base and securing the screws. 16. Set the actuator jumper for the correct action. The default position is for normally closed (NC) actuators. To change to normally open (NO) move the jumper to the right and center pin. 17. Set the pump/boiler off delay jumper for the correct setting. The default setting is for no delay. To change the pump/boiler off delay to 15 minutes, move the jumper to the right and center pin. 18. Re-attach the unit cover by inserting the tabs on the right side into the unit and securing it with the ¼ turn latch. 3.10

19 Section 3 Device Installation AX10RF Receiver Installation The AX10RF Receiver can be configured as a system remote boiler switch (RX1) or a single channel output to a thermal actuator or zone valve. The AX10RF Receiver must be installed by a qualified contractor. Installation and repairs are to be performed according to all national and local codes required by the authority having jurisdiction. In the absence of local requirements, follow ANSI/NFPA 70, National Electrical Code. Failure to follow these requirements may lead to severe personal injury, death or major property damage. DO NOT SERVICE this equipment without disconnecting the AC electrical power. 1. Carefully read these instructions and all instructions supplied with the unit before starting the installation. BOILER RX1 24 VAC SUPPLY 2. Inspect the control for damage and be sure all required parts are included before beginning. 3. Remove the cover by loosening the 2 screws on the bottom of the unit and rotating the bottom upward until the top clips disengage. CH DEMAND RX2 NO COM AX10RF WIRING SCHEMATIC RX1 CONFIGURATION FOR BOILER SWITCH H H N N AX10RF RECEIVER 4. Attach the AX10RF Receiver to the wall in the desired suitable location. Slide the configuration switch on the back of the cover to the desired position: AX10RF WIRING SCHEMATIC RX2 CONFIGURATION FOR ZONE VALVE Z ZONE VALVE RX1 for system remote boiler switch RX2 for valve actuator output 6. Wire the receiver using the appropriate schematic diagram. 7. Re-attach the cover by engaging the cover clips with the top of the unit and rotating downward until it closes. 8. Fasten the screws at the bottom of the unit. 3.11

20 Section 3 Device Installation ARV10RFM Radiator Valve Actuator Installation The ARV10RFM-3 Radiator Valve Actuator attaches to a Thermostatic Radiator Valve (TRV) that can connect wirelessly with your SALUS system to control room temperature. 1. Carefully read these instructions and all instructions supplied with the unit before starting the installation. 2. Inspect the control for damage and be sure all required parts are included before beginning. 3. Check the compatibility of this actuator with your TRV. If threads are not visible a SALUS RA adapter (included) may work with the valve. 4. Press up on the spring latch of the battery compartment and insert 2 AA batteries (included) ensuring the correct orientation. The LED on the top of the unit will flash green and then turn solid red. 5. Install the actuator on the radiator valve using the RA adapter if needed. Screw the unit (finger tight) to the radiator valve and check that the LED remains solid red. 6. Press any button on the unit to adapt it to the radiator valve. Once all movement and LED activity has stopped, the unit is ready to pair with your AS20 Thermostat. AFTER THE LED is off, listen for further activity from the ARV10RFM to be sure that it has completed its calibration cycle before advancing to the pairing step in Section 4. Failure to complete the calibration cycle may cause the installer to be required to reset the ARV10RFM Radiator Valve Actuator (Section 5) and re-initiate the calibration sequence by repeating the steps above. 3.12

22 Section 4 Device Pairing & Setup with Internet Connection SALUS wireless systems can be configured with an internet connection using the SG888ZB Gateway, or without an internet connection using the AC10RF Coordinator. It is important to follow the instructions that correspond to the desired configuration in the following pages. The configurations will be clearly marked, With Internet Connection or Without Internet Connection. System Configuration with Internet Connection using SG888ZB Gateway Before beginning the system configuration, be sure that the SALUS Smart Home application is downloaded to your mobile device. Links to the appropriate ios or Android application are included in Section 2, System Overview or on the SALUS website. You should have a username & password for this application. Be sure to keep this information secure. 1. Open the SALUS Smart Home application on your mobile device. If you haven t already done so, log on with your username and password. As noted in Section 3, Device Installation, the LED ring on the SG888ZB Gateway should be blue. The default SALUS Smart Home application screen includes a brief explanation of the dashboard. Once you understand this message, chose the x in the upper right corner to remove it. 2. Select Add new gateway from the SALUS Smart Home dashboard. A welcome screen appears showing Activate your gateway prompting you to make sure your gateway is connected to the router with an ethernet cable and the LED light is solid blue. 3. Press the multi button on top of the SG888ZB Gateway once, so it flashes green. 4.1

The device serial number is automatically entered and boxes appear to enter: Country (Canada/USA), Time Zone (Nearest City), Time Format (12h/24h), LED Mode (Always On/ Time Out), Address and Gateway Name. Note that you have 2 minutes to enter all the parameters before it deletes the serial number and times out. In this event, press the back button until Add new gateway screen is displayed and repeat steps 3 & Once the Activate my gateway button is pressed, the device firmware is automatically updated. When a message is displayed saying Your Gateway is Up To Date press, Next. Your SG888ZB Gateway will now be activated. 6. Select the orange button on the lower part of the screen labeled, Connect Equipment. The program will then advance to a button labeled, Scan for equipment. You are now ready to pair your components with the system. Any time it is necessary to add components to the system, you can return to the Scan for equipment button by selecting the drop down menu from the upper right side of the screen. Then select: Equipment All Equipment Add Equipment Scan for Equipment 4.2

24 Section 4 Device Pairing & Setup with Internet Connection AS20WRF/BRF Thermostat Configuration Prior to pairing, the AS20WRF/BRF Thermostat should be set to the desired configuration. The default configuration for the thermostat is programmable (Pr o9) but it can also be configured as non-programmable (np r9). Note that earlier firmware may display (di 9t) for the non-programmable configuration. The non-programmable option is used for thermostats intended to be a member of a thermostat group, part of an internet connected system, or a system where a schedule is not desired. 1. Use or keys to select between Pr o9 (programmable) and np r9 (nonprogrammable) thermostat configurations. (Note: Skip the uu tr selection as this is not applicable) 2. Press to confirm selection. Once the AS20WRF Thermostat is properly configured, pairing with other devices may proceed. Note: The uu tr configuration is not used and should not be selected. The AS20WRF/BRF Thermostat configuration cannot be changed after pairing is completed without resetting it to factory defaults and starting over. DO NOT PROCEED with pairing until the thermostat is in the desired configuration. If the wrong configuration is chosen prior to pairing, press & hold the, & buttons to re-enter the Pr o9 mode. 4.3

26 Section 4 Device Pairing & Setup with Internet Connection AS20WRF/BRF Thermostat with AKL01/04/06PRF and AKL08RF Wiring Centers To begin pairing, all of the required components are to be powered: AS20WRF Thermostat, AKL Wiring Center and AX10RF Receiver (if desired for boiler demand switching RX1). The LED ring on the SG888ZB should be solid blue. The Network Status LED on the AKL Wiring Center should be flashing and, if a AX10RF Receiver is used, the LED back light on the Auto/Manual switch should be flashing red. 1. Open the SALUS Smart Home mobile application and select the drop down menu from the upper right side of the screen select: Equipment All Equipment Add New Equipment Scan for Equipment The SG888ZB Gateway will begin flashing red while it is searching for the devices. This will continue until the pair process is complete. The Network Status LED on the AKL Wiring Center (red on the AKL01/04/06PRF and green on the AKL08RF) will flash. If an AX10RF Receiver is used, the LED backlight on the Auto/Manual switch will be flashing red. 4.5

27 Section 4 Device Pairing & Setup with Internet Connection 2. Select the check boxes for both the Wiring Center and the Zigbee Receiver on the SALUS Smart Home application. Then press the orange Connect equipment button. 3. Give each device a descriptive name that allows easy identification. If there are multiple wiring centers, identify each with respect to its location or purpose. 4. Press Finish and the flashing red LED lights on both devices should stay solid red. This indicates they are connected to the system. 5. Once the Wiring Center is connected and the LED on the SG888ZB stops flashing, press the multi button for two seconds. Zone LED on the AKL Wiring Center will illuminate indicating the ID number of the device. Use this number when setting up the AS20WRF/BRF Thermostats to address the correct Wiring Center. AKL Wiring Center ID Number Key ID # Zone 1 Zone 2 Zone 3 Zone 4 Zone 5 Zone Press confirm on the AS20WRF/BRF Thermostat to advance from the Screen. The AS20WRF/BRF Thermostat goes through it s boot sequence. 7. Again, from the SALUS Smart Home mobile application and select the drop down menu from the upper right side of the screen select Equipment All Equipment Add New Equipment Scan for Equipment 4.6

28 Section 4 Device Pairing & Setup with Internet Connection 8. When pairing begins, the AS20WRF/BRF Thermostat displays at the bottom of the screen. Press confirm to continue. The selection is used for all of the Wiring Centers. 9. When the screen reads it will be visible in the SALUS Smart Home application. Pressing confirm to proceed with the AS20WRF/BRF Thermostat setup. 10. Select the Zigbee Digital Control Thermostat, checking the box. Press the Connect equipment button. 11. Give each thermostat a descriptive name that differentiates it from others in the network and press Next. 12. Pressing the icon advances to thermostat setup. However, this can be completed later. Finish to complete the connection to the wireless network. 4.7

Wiring Center Number: Use the or buttons to choose the Wiring Center number if there are more than one in the system. Then press confirm. 14. Group Number: Group numbers are not applicable to wireless systems connected to the internet. Leave blank for this parameter. 15. Zone Number: Use the or buttons to choose the heating zone to which the AS20WRF/BRF Thermostat is to be associated. Then press confirm. The Group setting is not used for wireless systems connected to the internet. For information on using Groups, see the section entitled AS20WRF/BRF Pairing without Internet Connection. If multiple identical components are used, it is important to give each a unique identification. For example, if more than one AS20WRF/BRF Thermostat is used, name each one for the zone with which it is associated. For example, AS20WRF-1st Floor helps to identify which thermostat you are interacting with when you use the application. 16. Once the pairing is complete, the AS20WRF/BRF Thermostat shows the current time & temperature. Increase the temperature setpoint above the current temperature to test operation. The zone light corresponding with the thermostat being tested should come on. If an AX10RF Receiver is used, the backlight behind the Auto/Manual switch will be solid green, indicating that a demand signal is going to the boiler. Check to be sure the boiler starts when this demand is present. When the thermostat is successfully paired, the screen on the AS20WRF/BRF Thermostat will display the current time and temperature, the Network Status light on the AKL-RF Series Wiring Center will be solid green and, if applicable, the LED back light on the AX10RF Receiver s Auto/Manual switch will appear solid red. The LED ring on the SG888ZB Gateway will be solid blue. 4.8

Auto Manual On Off PM Choosing the AKL Wiring Center device under the All Equipment menu on the SALUS Smart Home mobile application and pressing the Identify icon will cause the RED G1 & G2 on the device to flash. Similarly, pressing the Identify icon for the AX10RF device will cause the green LED backlight on the On/Off button to flash. AS20WRF/BRF Thermostat with ARV10RFM Radiator Valve Actuator To begin pairing, all of the required components are to be powered: AS20WRF/ BRF Thermostat, ARV10RFM Radiator Actuator and AX10RF Receiver (if desired for boiler demand switching RX1) and the LED ring on the SG888ZB is solid blue. The LED indicator on the Actuator should be off. BEFORE PROCEEDING, Listen to the ARV10RFM to be sure there is no motor activity. If a AX10RF Receiver is used, the LED back light on the Auto/Manual switch should be flashing red. DO NOT BEGIN pairing with the ARV10RFM Radiator Valve Actuator unless the light is out and there is no motor activity. Listen closely to the Valve Actuator to be sure it is not operating before proceeding. 4.9

This will continue until the pair process is complete. The AS20 Thermostat must be set to for it to appear on the SALUS Smart Home application. COMPLETE step 3 before proceeding with pairing the ARV10RFM Radiator Actuator. 2. Use the Up arrow to change to from to. 3. Then press confirm. The ASWRF Thermostat will become visible on the SALUS Smart Home application 4. When the AS20WRF/BRF Thermostat displays, press confirm. 5. When the display shows, press confirm. 4.10

Give each thermostat a descriptive name that differentiates it from others in the network and press Next. 8. Pressing the icon advances to thermostat setup. However, this can be completed later. Finish to complete the connection to the wireless network. 10 seconds The LED indicator will flash red. 9. Press and hold the pair button for 10 seconds to enter pairing mode on each actuator to be connected. 4.11

From the SALUS Smart Home application, select the thermostat with which the ARV10RFM Radiator Valve Actuators are to be associated The SALUS wireless system allows up to 6 actuators to communicate with one AS20WRF/BRF thermostat. All ARV10RFM Radiator Valve Actuators to be associated with a single thermostat MUST BE IN PAIRING MODE before finalizing the AS20WRF/BRF setup. 12. Press the thermostat name to enter the configuration menu. 13. Select the tool next to All TRV s on This Thermostat 14. Press scan for equipment and check all boxes for ARV10RFM Actuators to be connected. 15. Give each ARV10RFM Actuator a unique name 16. Check off all actuators to be connected (The box turns green when selected) All ARV10RFM Actuators will be listed under All TRV s on This Thermostat 4.12

The LED on the SG888ZB Gateway will be solid blue. LED is off. LED is solid red. Auto Manual On Off PM Choosing the ARV10RFM device under the All Equipment menu on the SALUS Smart Home mobile application and pressing the Identify icon will cause the green LED on the device to flash. 4.13

35 Section 4 Device Pairing & Setup with Internet Connection AS20WRF/BRF Thermostat with AX10RF Receiver for Boiler Switching (RX1) Be sure the switch on the inside cover of the AX10RF Receiver has been configured to RX1, for boiler demand switching, and the Receiver has been wired as indicated in Section 3, Installation. To begin pairing, all of the required components are to be powered: AS20WRF/BRF Thermostat and AX10RF Receiver. The LED ring on the SG888ZB Gateway should be solid blue, indicating it is connected to the internet. The switches on the cover of the Receiver should be in Auto and On positions respectively. Pairing the AX10RF in the RX1 configuration with an AS20WRF/BRF Thermostat is only required when used in a 1 to 1 relationship without an AKL Wiring Center. Each system will only support one AX10RF configured as RX1 and one configured as RX2. 1. Open the SALUS Smart Home mobile application and select the drop down menu from the upper right side of the screen select: Equipment All Equipment Add New Equipment Scan for Equipment 4.14

Digital Thermostats should describe the space that they are servicing. 8. Press Finish to complete the pairing operation. The AS20BRF Thermostat description will appear on your SALUS Smart Home home screen. 9. Once the display shows the current temperature, confirm that the LED back light on the Auto/Manual switch is a constant red. The AX10RF Receiver is now paired. Auto Manual On Off 4.16

38 Section 4 Device Pairing & Setup with Internet Connection AS20WRF/BRF Thermostat with AX10RF Receiver for Zone Valve Operation (RX2) Be sure the switch on the inside cover of the AX10RF Receiver has been configured to RX2, for zone valve operation and the receiver has been wired as indicated in Section 3, Installation. Each wireless system will support only one receiver in RX1 mode and one in RX2 mode. These two components can be used together to provide boiler switching and zone valve operation. Auto On Manual Off 1. Open the SALUS Smart Home mobile application and select the drop down menu from the upper right side of the screen select: Equipment All Equipment Add New Equipment Scan for Equipment The SG888ZB Gateway will begin flashing red while it is searching for the devices. 41 Section 5 Device Pairing & Setup without Internet System Configuration without Internet Connection using AC10RF Coordinator Before beginning system configuration without an internet connection, be sure that the AC10RF Coordinator is powered and the LED is solid red. Prior to using the AC10RF Coordinator with an AKL01/04/06PRF Wiring Center, update the firmware version as follows: 1.Use a computer with an internet connection that meets the following requirements: COMPUTER PC Mac OPERATING SYSTEM Windows 8 or later OSX or later USB PORT Type A Type A 2. Connect to the SALUS Update Tool ( 3.Download and run the Update Tool by following the onscreen prompts 4. Insert the AC10RF Coordinator into a USB port on the computer when prompted to do so AS20WRF/BRF Thermostat Configuration Prior to pairing, the AS20WRF/BRF Thermostat should be set to the desired configuration. 42 Section 5 Device Pairing & Setup without Internet AS20WRF/BRF Thermostat with AKL01/04/06PRF or AKL08RF Wiring Center To begin pairing, all of the required components are to be powered: AS20WRF/ BRF Thermostat, AKL Wiring Center and AX10RF Receiver configured RX1 for boiler demand (optional). The Network Status LED on the AKL Wiring Center should be flashing and, if the AX10 RF Receiver is used, the red backlight behind the Auto/Manual switch should also be flashing. 1. Press and hold the lighted red button on the AC10RF Coordinator for 5 seconds, until the LED begins flashing, to begin pairing. When the network status LED on the AKL Wiring Center and the backlight on the Auto/Manual button of the AX10RF Receiver (if used) stop flashing, they have been paired and you are ready to pair the AS20WRF/BRF Thermostat. If the network status LED on the AKL Wiring Center continues blinking, turn off the power to the device for 10 seconds. 2. Once the network status LED on the AKL Wiring Center is no longer flashing, press the pairing button on the AC10RF Coordinator for two seconds. Zone LED on the Wiring Center will illuminate the ID number of the device (see ID# key below) AKL Wiring Center ID Number Key ID # Zone 1 Zone 2 Zone 3 Zone 4 Zone 5 Zone

The rl AY selection is used for all AKL Wiring Centers. Note: that older firmware may display UF H instead of rl AY 4. When the screen reads, press confirm to proceed with the AS20WRF/BRF Thermostat setup. 5. Wiring Center Number: Use the or buttons to choose the Wiring Center number if there are more than one in the system. Then press confirm. 6. Group Number: If grouped thermostats are used, use the up arrow to choose either group 1 or 2. If no groups are used, leave blank for this parameter. 7. Zone Number: Use the or buttons to choose the heating zone to which the AS20WRF/BRF Thermostat is to be associated. Then press confirm. 5.3

44 Section 5 Device Pairing & Setup without Internet Record the Wiring Center zone number that flashes after pushing the pairing button to identify the wiring center. (Zone 1 = Wiring Center 1, Zone 3 = Wiring Center 3) Refer to the wiring center installation documentation for identification of wiring centers that exceed the number of zones. 8. Repeat steps 2-6 for each additional AS20WRF/BRF Thermostat. 9. When all AS20WRF/BRF thermostats have been set up, press & hold the flashing button on the AC10RF Coordinator to complete pairing. The button light will stop flashing and stay solid red. When the thermostat is successfully paired, the screen on the AS20WRF/BRF Thermostat will display the current temperature, the Network Status Light on the AKL-RF Series Wiring Center will be solid red and, if applicable, the LED back light on the AX10RF Receiver s Auto/Manual switch will appear solid red. The LED button on the AC10RF Coordinator will be solid red PM LED is solid red. Auto Manual On Off Use the Identify Mode to check system communication and configuration. 1) Press and release the AC10RF Coordinator button to enter Identify Mode. The light will flash green. Each item connected will give an indication that it is connected. a. AKL-RF Wiring Center G1 & G2 flash red b. AX10RF Receiver On/Off Switch backlight flashes green c.. AS20WRF/BRF Thermostat Displays a 10 minute countdown with the letters id below it until identify times out. 2) Press and release the AC10RF Coordinator button to exit Identify Mode. The light will change to solid red indicating that the network is active To delete all devices from the network the following procedure should be used by a qualified contractor. 1) Press and hold the AC10RF Coordinator button for 10 seconds until the light turns AMBER. 2) Once the devices have been deleted, they can be re-installed using the procedures in this manual. 5.4

45 Section 5 Device Pairing & Setup without Internet AS20WRF/BRF Thermostat with ARV10RFM Radiator Valve Actuator Before beginning the pairing process, it is important to be sure that the ARV10RFM Radiator Valve Actuator was installed and adapted correctly as detailed in Section The batteries are to be inserted and the LED is to be solid red before installing the actuator on the radiator valve. Remember the actuator should be only finger tight on the valve. Using pliers or other tools can damage the assembly. 2. After attaching the actuator to the valve, press any of the buttons to initialize the actuator. This process may take several minutes and the valve may continue to initialize after the light is no longer illuminated. DO NOT BEGIN pairing with the ARV10RFM Radiator Valve Actuator unless the light is out and there is no motor activity. Listen closely to the Valve Actuator to be sure it is not operating before proceeding. 3. Press and hold the lighted red button on the AC10RF Coordinator for 5 seconds, until the LED begins flashing, to begin pairing. 4. Use the Up arrow to change to from to. 5. Then press confirm. The AS20WRF/BRF Thermostat will join the wireless network and begin the pairing sequence. 10 seconds The LED indicator will flash red. 6. Press and hold the pair button for 10 seconds to enter pairing mode. 5.5

46 Section 5 Device Pairing & Setup without Internet Each AS20WRF/BRF Thermostat is capable of controlling up to 6 ARV10RFM Actuators. All Actuators intended for pairing with a single thermostat are to be in pairing mode before proceeding 7. When the AS20WRF/BRF Thermostat displays, press confirm. 8. Press right arrow to begin scanning for ARV10RFM Actuators that are in the pairing mode. 9. Once all Actuators have been scanned, press on the AS20WRF/ BRF Thermostat to pair the valves with the Thermostat. 10. When all Thermostatic Regulator Valves (TRV) have been set up, press & hold the pairing button on the AC10RF Coordinator or the multi button on the SG888ZB Gateway to complete pairing. When the AS20WRF/BRF Thermostat is successfully paired, the screen will display the current temperature, the LED indicator on the ARV10RFM Radiator Valve Actuator turn off and, if applicable, the LED back light on the AX10RF Receiver s Auto/Manual switch will appear solid red. The LED on the AC10RF Coordinator will be solid red. If the SG888ZB Gateway is used without an internet connection, the LED ring on the multi button will be solid red. LED is off. LED is solid red. Auto Manual On Off PM Use the Identify Mode to check system communication and configuration. 1) Press and release the AC10RF Coordinator button to enter Identify Mode. The light will flash green. Press and hold the lighted red button on the AC10RF Coordinator for 5 seconds, until the LED begins flashing, to begin pairing. 2. Use the Up arrow to change to from to. 3. Then press confirm. Auto Manual On Off AS20WRF/BRF Thermostat with AX10RF Receiver for Zone Valve Operation (RX2) Be sure the switch on the inside cover of the AX10RF Receiver has been configured to RX2, for zone valve operation and the receiver has been wired as indicated in Section 3, Installation. To begin pairing, all of the required components are to be powered: AS20WRF/BRF Thermostat and AX10RF Receiver. The lighted LED button on the AC10RF Coordinator should be solid red. The switches on the cover of the Receiver should be in Auto and On positions respectively. Each wireless system will support only one receiver in RX1 mode and one in RX2 mode. These two components can be used together to provide boiler switching and zone valve operation. 5.8

50 Section 6 Resetting Factory Defaults If changes to the wireless setup are required, components in SALUS wireless systems can be reset to factory defaults. Resetting the SG888ZB Gateway with Internet Connection 1. Open the SALUS Smart Home mobile application and select the drop down menu from the upper right side of the screen. 2. Select Equipment All Equipment. A list of connected equipment is displayed. 3. Select the icon that represents the SG888ZB Gateway and scroll to the bottom of the information screen. 4. Select Remove universal gateway. The application will request confirmation that you want to delete it. 6.1

51 Section 6 Resetting Factory Defaults Resetting the SG888ZB Gateway without Internet Connection To reset the SG888ZB Gateway to factory defaults without an internet connection: 1. Press and hold the multi button on top of the SG888ZB Gateway. 2. When the LED flashes red, release the multi button. After approximately 10 seconds, the LED ring turns solid red indicating the default values are loaded. All the devices connected to the gateway will be deleted from the network and must be re-installed as previously described. Without an internet connection, the SG888ZB Gateway will remain solid red. Resetting the AC10RF Coordinator without Internet Connection 1. Press and hold the pairing button on the AC10RF Coordinator for 10 seconds 2. The LED light on the AC10 Coordinator will turn amber, indicating the system is resetting. 3. When the system is reset, the LED light will turn red once again, indicating the system is ready. All the devices connected to the gateway will be deleted from the network and must be re-installed as previously described. 6.2

53 Section 6 Resetting Factory Defaults Resetting the AKL01/04/06PRF Zone Pump or AKL08RF Zone Valve Wiring Center without Internet Connection To reset the AKL Wiring Centers, locate the Pair button on the top of the cabinet near the cover screw on the right side. 1. Press and hold the Pair button for about 20 seconds until the G1/G2 lights start flashing. After releasing the button, the network status light begins flashing 2. To complete the reset, cycle the power to the Wiring Center off for 10 seconds. The AKL Wiring Center WILOT OPERATE correctly until the power is cycled off and on. with Internet Connection To reset the AKL Wiring Centers, delete them from the SALUS Smart Home mobile application as follows: 1. Select the menu from the upper right of the home screen. 2. Choose Equipment 3. Then choose, All equipment 4. Choose the appropriate Wiring Center from the list. 5. Scroll to the bottom of the screen. 6. Select Remove Wiring Center. 7. Once the AKL Wiring Center is removed, be sure to cycle off the power for more than 10 seconds to fully reset the unit. 6.4

54 Section 6 Resetting Factory Defaults Resetting the AX10RF Receiver without Internet Connection The AX10RF Receiver has 2 reset buttons on the bottom surface of the unit cover. The right button is for the receiver and the left is for the system. 1. Using a small stiff wire, press and hold the right reset button until the red auto/manual backlight LED flashes. 2. Using the same probe, press and hold the left reset button until the red auto/manual backlight LED and the green on/off backlight LED flash alternately. 3. To complete the reset, cycle the power to the AX10RF Receiver off for 10 seconds. with Internet Connection To reset the AX10RF Receiver, delete the icon from the SALUS Smart Home mobile application in the same way as the Wiring Centers: 1. Select the menu from the upper right of the home screen. 2. Choose Equipment 3. Then choose, All equipment 4. Choose the appropriate Wiring Center from the list. 5. Scroll to the bottom of the screen. 6. Select Remove Wiring Center. 7. Once the AKL Wiring Center is removed, be sure to cycle off the power for more than 10 seconds to fully reset the unit. 6.5

The instructions that follow the graphical representation of these schedules allow the installer to choose the target temperatures for each of these periods. To operate the AS20 as a dependent in a group, it must be configured before pairing. 7.5

For example, to set the high temperature, move box to the sun icon. 2. Use the Up/Down Arrows & to set the temperature for this period, then press confirm. 3. Repeat this process for the middle temperature and the low temperature. 4. When all temperatures are set, move the box to the letter A to run the current program. Note that a box remains around the icon for the current period. To skip an interval, press the key until the appear for the hour and the minutes. The heating mode from the previous interval will be maintained until the next interval setting. 8. The icon will show next to the current temperature until the next program interval. Pressing the > or < key will cancel the temporary program override returning to the temperature programmed for the current interval. AS20WRF/BRF Thermostat Permanent Temperature Hold PM PM 1. To enter permanent hold, use the & keys to choose the desired permanent heat mode: Low (moon), Med (clouds), High (sun). The target temperature will remain at the temperature designated for that heat mode until it is set back to automatic mode (A). 2. To switch back to the automatic program, use the & keys to move the selection box to automatic (A). The target temperature will again change as programmed. 7.9
