Correct application This commercial dishwasher complies with current safety requirements. Inappropriate use can, however, lead to personal injury and damage to property. To avoid the risk of accidents and damage to the commercial dishwasher, please read these instructions carefully before using it for the first time. They contain important information on its safety, installation, use and maintenance. Keep these instructions in a safe place and pass them on to any future owner. This commercial dishwasher with its short program run times and powerful cleaning performance is intended for commercial use in offices, lunch rooms, clubhouses, small businesses, active kitchens and other similar commercial environments. It is also suitable for use in domestic households and in similar residential environments, for example by customers in hotels, motels, bed and breakfasts, on farms and other related establishments. This dishwasher is not intended for continuous use. This dishwasher is not suitable for cleaning medical devices and laboratory glasswares. This machine is designed exclusively for use as a dishwasher for cleaning dishes, glassware and cutlery as described in these instructions. Any other use, conversions and modifications are not permitted and could be dangerous. Miele cannot be held liable for damage resulting from incorrect or improper use or operation. This dishwasher is intended for stationary, indoor use only. The special inserts are to be used for their specific purpose only. This dishwasher can only be used by people with reduced physical, sensory or mental capabilities, or lack of experience or knowledge, if they are supervised whilst using it or have been shown how to use it in a safe way. 8

Correct application The dishwasher is equipped with a special bulb to cope with particular conditions (e.g., temperature, moisture, chemical resistance, abrasion resistance and vibration). This special bulb must only be used for the purpose for which it is intended, i.e. the lighting of the wash cabinet. It is not suitable for room lighting. Replacement bulbs may only be fitted by a Miele authorized person or by Miele Service. 9

Warning and Safety Instructions Correct installation Do not install the dishwasher in areas at risk of explosion or freezing. To ensure the stability of undercounter dishwashers, these units may only be installed beneath a continuous countertop that is bolted to adjacent cabinetry. In order to reduce the risk of damage from condensation, the furniture in the area around the dishwasher should be designed for commercial use. Technical safety This dishwasher must only be installed, commissioned, repaired and maintained by Miele Service, a dealer or a suitably qualified service technician. Installation, repairs and maintenance work by unqualified persons could be dangerous. Miele cannot be held liable for unauthorized work. This dishwasher must only be operated by appropriately trained personnel. They must be instructed and trained regularly. Before using the dishwasher, check it for any externally visible damage. Do not use a damaged dishwasher. This could be dangerous! In the event of a damaged or leaking dishwasher, switch off the power supply immediately and call Miele Service, a Miele dealer or a suitably qualified service technician. Faulty components must only be replaced by genuine Miele original spare parts. Only when these parts are fitted can Miele guarantee the safety standards of the appliance. 10

Warning and Safety Instructions The electrical safety of this machine can only be guaranteed when correctly grounded. If in any doubt, please have the electrical installation tested by a qualified electrician. Miele cannot be held liable for the consequences of an inadequate grounding system (e.g., electric shock). Be sure to follow the installation instructions in this manual and in the installation diagram. Before connecting the appliance, ensure that the connection data on the data plate (voltage, frequency and fuse rating) match the mains electrical supply. There must be no electrical sockets behind the dishwasher. Danger of overheating if the dishwasher were to be pushed up against a plug, as the niche width can be too small. See Electrical connection. Do not connect the dishwasher to the electricity supply via a multi-socket unit or an extension lead. These do not guarantee the required safety of the machine (e.g. danger of overheating). Do not open the casing of the dishwasher. Any contact with live connections or tampering with the electrical or mechanical components of the dishwasher will endanger your safety and may lead to machine malfunctions. The dishwasher must not be used if the electrical connection cable is damaged. A damaged connection cable may only be replaced by a specific connection cable of the same type. For safety reasons, such replacements may only be carried out by a qualified technician, a Miele dealer or the Miele Service. The dishwasher must be disconnected from the electrical supply before any maintenance or repair work is carried out. The plastic housing of the water connection contains two electrical valves. The housing must not be immersed in liquids. 11

Warning and Safety Instructions There are electrical wires in the water inlet hose. Do not shorten the water inlet hose, even if it is too long. The integrated Waterproof system offers protection against water damage, provided the following conditions are met: Installation has been carried out correctly The dishwasher is properly maintained and parts are replaced in case of noticeable damage The tap has been turned off during longer absences (for example, vacation) The Waterproof system will work even when the dishwasher is switched off. However, the dishwasher must remain connected to the electricity supply. 12

Correct use Warning and Safety Instructions This dishwasher is designed for operation with water and cleaning agents suitable for use in dishwashers only. Organic solvents and flammable liquid agents must not be used. This could cause an explosion, damage rubber or plastic components in the dishwasher and cause liquids to leak out of it. Only use cleaning agents formulated for use in dishwashers. Unsuitable cleaning agents could adversely affect components of the dishwasher or the items being cleaned. Do not sit, stand or lean on the opened door. This could tip or damage the dishwasher. After any plumbing work the water pipework to the dishwasher will need to be vented. If this is not done, components can be damaged. Please be aware that the dishwasher may be operating at high temperatures. When the door is opened there is a danger of burning or scalding! Dishes, cutlery, baskets and inserts must be allowed to cool down before they are unloaded. Any water remaining in containers could still be very hot. Empty them into the wash cabinet before taking them out. The water in the cabinet must not be used as drinking water. Pre-treating items (for example with dishwashing liquid and other detergents) as well as some types of soiling and some detergents can cause a build-up of foam in the wash cabinet. Foam can have an adverse effect on the cleaning result. Foam escaping from the wash cabinet can cause damage to the dishwasher. If foam escapes, the program must be cancelled immediately and the dishwasher must be disconnected from the electrical supply! 13

Warning and Safety Instructions When using detergents and specialized products, it is essential that the manufacturer's instructions are followed. Detergents must only be used for the purpose they are designed for and in the situation specified, to avoid such dangers as serious chemical reactions and material damage (e.g. oxyhydrogen explosion). Avoid inhaling powder detergents! Do not swallow detergents! Detergents can cause chemical burns to nose, mouth and throat. Seek medical help immediately if you have inhaled or swallowed any detergent. Miele cannot be held liable for any effect chemical detergents may have on the material of the items being cleaned. Observe the detergent manufacturer's instructions with regard to storage conditions, use and dosage. To avoid material damage and corrosion, do not allow any acids, chloride solutions or corrosive iron materials get into the wash cabinet. Do not wash items soiled with ash, sand, wax, lubricating grease or paint in the dishwasher. These materials will cause damage to the dishwasher. Do not clean the dishwasher or near vicinity with a hose or a pressure washer. Ensure that the stainless steel outer casing of the appliance does not come into contact with solutions or steam containing acid to avoid any corrosion damage. Be careful when sorting items with sharp pointed ends and positioning them in the commercial dishwasher that you do not hurt yourself or create a danger for others. Position them so they cannot cause injury. Remove any coarse food deposits and empty out any containers or utensils before loading them in the commercial dishwasher. 14

Safety with children Warning and Safety Instructions Children should be supervised in the vicinity of the dishwasher. Never allow children to play with the dishwasher. There is a danger that children might shut themselves in the dishwasher. Younger children must be kept away from the dishwasher unless they are constantly supervised. Under certain circumstances, children may only use the dishwasher if they have been shown how to use it in a safe manner. Children must be able to recognize and understand the potential risks of improper use. Keep children away from process chemicals! Process chemicals contain ingredients which can cause burning in the mouth or throat, or inhibit breathing. Keep children away from the dishwasher when the door is open. There could still be residual process chemicals in the dishwasher. Seek medical advice immediately if a child has swallowed or inhaled any process chemicals. Accessories Accessory parts may only be fitted when expressly approved by Miele. If other parts are used, warranty, guarantee and/or product liability claims will be invalidated. Miele cannot be held liable for damage caused by non-compliance with these Warning and Safety instructions. 15

Caring for the environment Disposal of the packaging material The cardboard box and packaging materials protect the appliance during shipping. They have been designed to be biodegradable and recyclable. Recycling the packaging reduces the use of raw materials in the manufacturing process and also the amount of waste. Disposal of your old appliance Electronic and electrical appliances contain many valuable materials. They also contain certain materials, compounds and components which were essential for their correct functioning and safety. These could be hazardous to your health and to the environment if disposed of with general waste or if handled incorrectly. Please do not, therefore, dispose of your old appliance with general waste. Instead, please make use of officially designated collection and disposal points to dispose of and recycle electrical and electronic appliances in your local community, dealer, or with Miele. By law, you are solely responsible for deleting any personal data from the appliance prior to disposal. Ensure that it presents no danger to children while being stored for disposal. 16

Caring for the environment Energy-saving dishwashing This commercial dishwasher is exceptionally economical in is use of water and electricity. You can make the most of your machine by following these tips: You may connect the commercial dishwasher to a hot water line. This is particularly suitable with energysaving water heating sources such as solar energy systems. If the hot water system is electrically heated and if loads comprise primarily glassware we recommend connecting the appliance to the cold water line. For most economical dishwashing, make full use of the baskets without overloading the dishwasher. Choose a program that best suits the degree of soiling and the type of dishes being washed. Use the Normal program for energy saving dishwashing. From the aspect of combined energy and water consumption, this program is the most efficient for washing normally soiled dishes. Observe the detergent manufacturer's recommendations for detergent dosage. When using powder detergent, you can reduce the amount by 1/3 of the normal dosage if the baskets are only half full. 17

Commissioning Opening the door Closing the door Push the baskets in. Then lift the door upwards and push until it clicks into position. Do not put your hand inside the door as it is closing. Danger of injury. At the end of programs with a drying phase (see Program overview ) the door will automatically open a little in order to help the drying process. This function can be deactivated if preferred (see Settings menu, AutoOpen ). Pull the handle to open the door. If the door is opened during operation, all functions are automatically interrupted. Keep the area around the door free of obstructions. 18

Commissioning Display functions General The following functions can be selected or set with the display: the program the delay start time the settings The following appears in the display while a program is running: the program stage the estimated remaining runtime any relevant fault messages and information To save energy, the dishwasher will switch to Standby mode within a few minutes if no program is running and no button is pressed. After several more minutes it switches off completely (see Operation, Standby ). Press the button to switch the commercial dishwasher back on Settings menu The Settings menu is used to alter the dishwasher's electronics to suit different requirements. You can access the Settings menu by pressing a specific button combination. See Settings menu for more details. In the Settings menu, the normal functions of the buttons to the right next to the display are not active allowing you to select and confirm menu items with these buttons. The arrows on the left and right of the display indicate that further options are available. You can use the arrow buttons next to the display, as appropriate, to select these further options. Use the centre button beneath the display to confirm messages or settings and to switch to the next menu or submenu. A check will appear beside the option which is currently selected. 19

Commissioning Standard settings Switch the commercial dishwasher on with the button. If the commercial dishwasher is being turned on for the first time, the welcome screen will appear. Language The display will change automatically to the screen for setting the language. See the Display functions section for details. Select the desired language and press the centre button to confirm. A check will appear next to the language that has been set. Water hardness The display changes to the water hardness setting. The commercial dishwasher must be programmed to exactly match the hardness of your water. Miele Service is able to measure the exact water hardness on site. Alternatively contact your local city water supplier for the water hardness level in your area. Where the water hardness fluctuates e.g. between gr/gal (17-25 d - German scale), always program the commercial dishwasher to the higher value (26 gr/gal or 25 d in this example). It is useful to know your water hardness so that you can provide the service technician with this information in the event of any service calls. Enter the water hardness below: gr/gal / d The water hardness factory setting is programmed at 15 dh (=16 gr/gal or 2.7 mmol/l). Select the water hardness level for your water supply and confirm with the center button. See Settings menu, Water hardness for more information. The following two messages Refill rinse aid and Refill salt may then appear in the display. Press any button to confirm these messages. The display changes to the Main menu. 20

Commissioning Before using the commercial dishwasher for the first time you will need: approx. 1 kg dishwasher salt for reactivation, approx. 110 ml rinse aid, Dishwasher detergent, see Operation Every commercial dishwasher is tested at the factory.there may be residual water in the machine from this test. This is not an indication that it has been used previously. Filling the salt reservoir In order to achieve good cleaning results, the commercial dishwasher needs to operate with soft (low in calcium deposits) water. Hard water results in a build-up of calcium deposits on dishware and in the commercial dishwasher. Water with a hardness level higher than 4 gr/gal (4 d / 0.7 mmol/l) needs to be softened. This takes place automatically in the integrated water softener. The water softener in the commercial dishwasher is suitable for a water hardness level of up to 37 gr/gal (36 d / 6.5 mmol/l). See Settings menu, Water hardness for setting the water softener. If the water in your area is very soft and constantly lower than 4 gr/gal (0.7 mmol/l / 4 d - German scale), you do not need to add dishwasher.salt The water softener must, however, still be programmed to correspond to the water hardness level in your area. Do not fill the salt reservoir with dishwasher detergent (including liquid detergent). Dishwasher detergent will damage the water softener. Only use special coarse grained dishwasher salt for reactivation, or pure evaporated salt. Miele Professional offer appropriate products. Other types of salt may contain insoluble additives which can impair the functioning of the water softener. 21

Commissioning When filling the salt reservoir, only open the door half way to ensure that all the salt gets into the reservoir. Press the button on the lid of the salt reservoir in the direction of the arrow. The flap will spring open. Add salt only until the reservoir is full. The salt reservoir holds approx. 1 kg of salt, depending on the type of salt used. Do not add any more than 1 kg of salt. As the salt reservoir is filled, displaced water can overflow. Clean any excess salt from around the reservoir opening and then close the flap. Immediately run the Pre-wash program without a load in order to remove any traces of salt from the cabinet. Lift up the funnel. Do not fill water into the salt reservoir! 22

Commissioning Salt refill reminder Fill the salt reservoir with dishwasher salt for reactivation as soon as Refill salt appears in the display (If it appears during a program, wait until the end of the program). Press the centre button to confirm. The salt refill indicator will go out. After the salt reservoir has been filled, the salt refill message may still appear in the display if the salt concentration has not yet reached the correct level. If this is the case, press the middle button again. The Refill salt message is turned off if you have programmed the commercial dishwasher to a water hardness below 4gr/gal (=0.7 mmol/l). Immediately after refilling the salt reservoir, run the Pre-wash or Short program without a load in order to remove any traces of salt from the cabinet. Rinse aid Rinse aid is necessary to ensure water does not cling and leave marks on dishes and glassware during the drying phase and helps dishes dry faster after it after it has been washed. Rinse aid is filled in the reservoir and the set amount will be automatically dispensed. Fill the reservoir with rinse only. Do not fill it with dish soap or cleaning agent. This would damage the rinse aid reservoir. Suitable products are available from Miele Professional. Alternatively, it is possible to use household vinegar with a max. 5% acid content or liquid citric acid with a max. 10% acid content. The resulting rinsing and drying quality will not, however, be as good as when rinse aid is used. Do not use vinegar with a higher acid content (e.g., vinegar essence with 25% acid). This would damage the commercial dishwasher. 23

Commissioning Adding rinse aid Wipe up any spilled rinse aid. This prevents over-foaming occurring during the next program. You can adjust the rinse aid dosage to optimize the results (see Settings menu, Rinse aid ). Press the button on the lid of the rinse aid reservoir in the direction of the arrow. The flap will spring open. Rinse aid reminder When the Refill rinse aid message appears in the display, the reservoir contains sufficient rinse aid for 2-3 programs only. Add rinse aid soon. Press the centre button to confirm. The add rinse aid reminder will go out. Add rinse aid only until it is visible in the opening. The rinse aid reservoir holds approximately 110 ml. Close the flap firmly so that it clicks into place. Otherwise water can enter the rinse aid reservoir during a program. 24

Loading the commercial dishwasher Preparing the load Remove coarse food residues from the dishware. There is no need to rinse items under running water! Tips: Ensure that no acid or solvent residues, especially hydrochloric acid or chlorides, get inside the wash cabinet. Do not wash items soiled with ash, sand, wax, lubricating grease or paint in the commercial dishwasher. These substances will damage the commercial dishwasher. Dishware can be loaded anywhere in the baskets, but the following notes should be observed: Load the dishes so that water can access all the surfaces. This ensures that they get properly cleaned! Load plates symmetrically in the upper and lower baskets with the concave surface towards the centre of the basket (as shown on the following pages). Do not place dishes or cutlery inside other pieces where they may be concealed. Load the dishes so that water can access all the surfaces. This ensures that they get properly cleaned! Make sure that all items are securely positioned. Hollow items such as cups, glasses and pans, etc. should be placed upside down in the baskets. Tall, narrow, hollow items should be placed in the centre of the basket if possible to ensure better water coverage. Concave items such as mugs or bowls should be placed at an angle so that the water can run off. The spray arms must not be blocked by items which are too tall or hang through the baskets. If in doubt, test for free movement by manually rotating the spray arms. Small items can fall through the holders in the baskets. Small items should therefore be placed in the cutlery tray or cutlery basket (depending on model). Some foods may contain natural dyes, e.g. carrots, tomatoes or ketchup. Plastic items in the commercial dishwasher may discolour if large quantities of these foods find their way into the appliance on the dishes. The stability of plastic items is not affected by this discolouration. 25

Loading the commercial dishwasher Items not suitable for dishwashers: Wooden cutlery and dishware or items with wooden parts may discolour and fade. The glue used in these items is not dishwasher-proof. Wooden handles may come loose after being washed in a dishwasher. Craft items, antiques, valuable vases and decorative glassware are not suitable for dishwashers. Plastic items which are not heat resistant may melt or lose shape. Copper, brass, tin and aluminum items may discolour or become matt. Colours painted over a glaze may fade after a number of washes. Delicate glassware and glassware containing lead crystal may become cloudy after frequent washing. We recommend: When purchasing new dishware and cutlery, make sure they are dishwasher-proof. Clouding may occur on glasses after frequent washing. If delicate glassware is washed in the commercial dishwasher ensure that only a special glass-care program with very low temperatures (see Program overview ) is selected and that suitable detergent is used. This will reduce the risk of clouding. Please note: Silver and aluminum which has been in contact with foods containing sulfur can discolour. Aluminum components (e.g. grease filters) must not be cleaned with caustic alkaline commercial or industrial cleaning agents. These may damage the material, or in extreme cases, there is a risk of a severe explosive chemical reaction (explosive oxyhydrogen gas reaction). 26

Loading the commercial dishwasher 3D cutlery tray Arrange the cutlery in the tray as shown. To make unloading easier, cutlery should be grouped in zones, one for knives, one for forks, one for spoons, etc. Spoon heads should be placed in contact with at least one of the serrated retainers on the base of the cutlery tray to ensure that water runs off them freely. The upper spray arm must not be blocked by items which are too big (e.g. cake servers). The side sections of the tray can be moved into the middle to accommodate tall items of crockery in the upper basket. If spoon handles do not fit between the holders, then lay them the other way round. You can use the yellow slide to adjust the height of the middle section of the cutlery tray to make more room for large items of cutlery, such as serving spoons and ladles. 35

Operation Detergent Powder detergents Use powder cleaning detergent or dishwasher tabs only in the door dispenser compartment. Suitable products are available from Miele Professional. Cleaning tabs can be used. Only use tabs that are quick dissolving. Suitable tabs are available from Miele Professional. Add powder cleaning detergent or cleaning tabs to the detergent compartment. Detergent dosage Unless directed otherwise, use one detergent tab or add 20 to 25 g detergent to compartment II, depending on the level of soiling. With very heavy soiling you can also add a small amount of detergent to compartment l (see Program chart ). Failure to dispense the recommended amount of detergent may impair cleaning results. Liquid detergent This dishwasher can be fitted with an external dispenser pump for liquid detergent (DOS module). See Settings menu, External DOS to activate the dispenser pump and set the detergent dosage.. For special soiling or if using liquid detergent dispensed by a liquid detergent pump, contact Miele for advice on how to adapt the detergent dosage to the particular circumstances. Cleaning agents containing active chlorine must not be used. They can damage the elastomers and plastics of the commercial dishwasher. Refilling or changing containers The DOS module is equipped with a level indicator which gives the message Add detergent in the display when the level drops below the minimum. As soon as the message appears in the display, refill or replace the container with a full one at the end of the program. Confirm the message with the OK button. Replace the container in good time to prevent the dispensing system being emptied completely. An empty dispensing system must be vented before starting the next program. 36

Operation Place the container on the open cabinet door or on a surface which is easy to clean. Wipe up any spilled process chemical thoroughly. Place the container on the floor next to the commercial dishwasher or in an adjacent cupboard. The container must be on the same level as the dishwasher. It must not be placed higher than the dishwasher or on top of it. The DOS system must then be primed. To prime the system and adjust the dosage amount, see Settings menu, External DOS. Unscrew and remove the suction lance. Place the suction lance on the open cabinet door. Replace the empty container with a full one. Push the suction lance into the opening of the container and screw it on tightly. Observe the colour coding. Selecting a program Choose the program according to the type of dishware, soiling and sanitization requirements. The different programs and their uses are described in the Program Overview chapter. Select the program required with the button. The indicator light of the selected program will come on. 39

Operation Time display The duration of the program selected appears in hours and minutes in the display before the program begins. During the program, the time left until the end of the program is displayed. Each program stage is indicated by a symbol: Pre-wash Main wash Interim rinse Final rinse Drying Finished The displayed program duration may vary with the same program. It is influenced by, among other things, the water temperature at each intake, the reactivation process of the water softener and the amount of dishes. When a program is selected for the first time, the display shows an average program duration for warm water intake. The program duration changes if the electrical connection is changed. Standby To save energy, the dishwasher will switch to Standby mode a few minutes after the last time a button has been pressed or a few minutes after the end of the program. The display and the indicator lights will go out and only the indicator will flash slowly. Press the button to switch the display and indicator lights back on. If the commercial dishwasher is not switched off at the end of the program, it will switch off completely after a few minutes in Standby mode (see Settings menu, Optimize standby ). The commercial dishwasher will not switch into Standby mode whilst a program is running, if salt or rinse aid needs to be replenished or there is a fault. You can switch off the reminders to replenish salt and rinse aid so that the commercial dishwasher will go into Standby despite a lack of salt or rinse aid (see Settings menu, Refill display ). You cannot switch off fault messages. 40

Operation End of program At the end of a program, the Inoperation indicator light will be visible flashing slowly with the door shut. The program has finished when End or AutoOpen appears in the display and the door has opened slightly (if applicable). If Extra Drying was selected and AutoOpen is active, the drying fan will run for a few minutes after the program has ended. Open the door all the way to reset the door latch. You can now unload the commercial dishwasher. The In-operation indicator light will go out 10 minutes after the end of the program if the door is closed. If you have deactivated the automatic door opening function (see Settings menu, AutoOpen ), but would still like to open the door at the end of the program, make sure that you open the door fully. Otherwise steam from the commercial dishwasher could damage the edge of the counter because the fan is no longer running. Turning off At the end of a program: Open the door. Turn the commercial dishwasher off with the button. The commercial dishwasher will continue to use electricity until it is turned off with the button. Useful tip: If the commercial dishwasher is not going to be used for a longer period of time, e.g. whilst on vacation, the water supply should be turned off. Unloading the commercial dishwasher Dishes tend to break and chip more easily when they are hot. Leave the dishes in the commercial dishwasher until they are cool enough to handle before unloading them. The dishes will cool much faster if you open the door fully when the program has ended. Unload the lower basket first, then the upper basket and then the cutlery tray (depending on model). This will prevent water from the upper basket and cutlery tray from dripping onto dishes in the lower basket. 41

Operation Interrupting a program A program will be interrupted as soon as the door is opened. When the door is closed again, the program will continue from where it was interrupted. Water in the commercial dishwasher may be hot. Danger of scalding. Only open the door if absolutely necessary and exercise extreme caution when doing so. Before closing the door again, leave it ajar for approx. 20 seconds. This will enable the temperature in the wash cabinet to settle. Then raise the door up and push until the catch engages. Changing a program If liquid detergent dispensing is not being used and the detergent dispenser flap has already opened, more powder detergent must be added for the new program. If a program has already started and you wish to change it, proceed as follows: Open the door. Turn the commercial dishwasher off with the button. Turn the dishwasher back on using the button. Select the program required with the program selector button. Start the program by closing the door. The In-operation indicator light comes on to show that a program has been started. 42

Additional functions Extra drying In order to achieve better drying results and to reduce the amount of steam which escapes when the door is opened, the fan runs for longer at the end of the program when Extra drying is selected. This function is not available for all programs (see Program overview ). With Extra drying selected, the program duration will increase by approx minutes, depending on the program. Open the door. Turn the commercial dishwasher on using the button. The indicator light will light up. Select a program. Press the button. The indicator light will light up if the function is available for the selected program. Start the program by closing the door. Delay start The start time of a program can be delayed, e.g. to benefit from cheaper electricity tariffs at night. A delay start time of between 30 minutes and 24 hours can be selected. The delay start time is set in 30 minute steps. When using the delay start function, make sure that the detergent compartment is dry before adding detergent. Wipe dry with a cloth if necessary. If the compartment is wet, detergent can clump up and stick to the dispenser, which may prevent the detergent from being fully dispensed. Open the door. Turn the commercial dishwasher on with the button. The indicator light will light up. Use the program selector button to select the desired program. Press the button. The last delay start time used will appear in the display. The indicator light will light up. Set the required time using the button. If the button is kept pressed in, the time will increase automatically up to 24:00 h. To start at 30 minutes again, press the button twice. Close the door. 43

Additional functions If you do not close the door within a few seconds after you have set the Delay start time, the program runtime will appear in the display again. You will have to set the Delay start time again. The time starts counting down in minutes until the program start time. At the end of the delay period, the program selected begins automatically. The in-operation indicator light lights up. Starting a program before Delay start has elapsed: A program can be started before the Delay start time has elapsed. Proceed as follows: Open the door. Turn the commercial dishwasher off with the - button. Turn the commercial dishwasher back on using the button. Use the program selector button to select the desired program. Start the program by closing the door. The In-operation indicator light comes on to show that a program has started. BrilliantLight This commercial dishwasher has interior lighting. When the door is open, the lighting will switch off automatically after 15 minutes. The interior lighting can also be switched off permanently. Half open the dishwasher door and quickly swing it back and forth three times. When doing this, open the door wide enough for the interior lighting to switch on and off. The interior lighting has been switched off permanently. To switch the lighting back on again, quickly swing the half-opened door back and forth three times again. 44

Cleaning and care Service The commercial dishwasher should be serviced every 750 hours of operation, or at least once a year by Miele Service. Maintenance covers the following: electrical integrity, Door mechanism and door seal Any screw connections and connectors in the wash cabinet Water inlet and drainage Internal and external dispensing systems Spray arms Filter combination Sump including drain pump and nonreturn valve All baskets and inserts The following operational tests will be carried out as part of the maintenance: A program will be run as a test run Seals will be tested for water tightness All relevant measuring systems will be safety tested, including fault displays Safety features Cleaning the wash cabinet The wash cabinet is largely selfcleaning, provided that the correct amount of detergent is always used. If, despite this, lime scale or grease deposits accumulate in the cabinet, these can be removed with a proprietary dishwasher cleaner (available from Miele). If you mainly use low temperature programs, bacteria and unpleasant odours can build up in the wash cabinet. To prevent this, run an intensive program with detergent after approx. 20 program cycles with low temperatures. Cleaning the door and the door seal Wipe the door seals regularly with a damp cloth to remove food deposits. When the dishwasher is being loaded, food and drink residues may drip onto the sides of the dishwasher door. These surfaces are outside the wash cabinet and are not accessed by water from the spray arms. Any soiling should be wiped off these surfaces before the door is closed. All surfaces are susceptible to scratches. Contact with unsuitable cleaning agents can alter or discolour all surfaces. 45

Cleaning and care Cleaning the reflector panel The reflector panel for the In-operation indicator light is situated in the coverplate underneath the worktop. The reflector panel should only be wiped with a damp cloth or a suitable cleaning agent designed for use on plastic. Cleaning the control panel and front of the commercial dishwasher Remove any soiling immediately. Soiling that is left too long might become impossible to remove and could cause the external surfaces to alter or discolour. The control panel should only be wiped with a damp cloth. Clean the front of the appliance with a clean sponge and a solution of hot water and liquid dish soap. After cleaning, dry the front with a soft cloth. A clean, damp microfibre cloth without detergent can also be used. To avoid damaging the surfaces of your appliance, do not use: Cleaning products containing soda, ammonia, acids or chlorides, lime scale removers, Abrasive cleaning products, such as scouring powder, scouring liquid, or pumice stones, cleaners containing solvents, stainless steel cleaners, dishwasher cleaners, oven sprays, glass cleaners, Hard, abrasive sponges and brushes, such as pot scrubbers, Eraser sponges, sharp metal scrapers, steam cleaning appliances. 46
