2 Setting Your Bullseye to Control Your Fans The AgriDry Bullseye Controller has four modes of operation. These modes are not selected but rather determined based on the settings in the controller. Each of the illustrations (for corn) below will help you understand what each setting is controlling. The four modes are: 1. Natural Air Drying 2. Low Temp Drying OR (CEMC Drying) 3. Changing Moisture 4. Storage (each season has different settings, see reverse) * The illustrations on the following pages are hypothetical and for the purposes of training. AgriDry does not promote introducing any foreign material to the grain in storage. Please reference owners manual for full description of the modes of operation Bullseye Operating Window Fans will not run when EMC (Blue Line) is outside the operating window (Shaded Area) Fans will run when EMC (Blue Line) is inside the operating window (Shaded Area) Current EMC Current Moisture Target Moisture Upper Limit Target Moisture Lower Limit EMC Limit Lower Changing Settings with ADLink Wizard The easiest way to set your controller is through the ADLink Grain Bin Wizard that can be found on your ADLink.com account General Settings screen. The wizard will assist you in setting your controller when you make MAJOR changes, like going from Drying to Storage Mode. The Wizard currently has suggested settings for grain types corn and soybeans. To save the changes to your controller, choose save and apply after you have updated your settings. 7 Frequently Asked Questions During Harvest Q: I m going to start harvesting in a few days- what should I do with my controller to get it ready for fall? A: The controller should be powered up at least a week in advance before you fill the bin. Check the outside air temperature, relative humidity, grain temperatures, etc. to make sure they are reading properly. If there is a satellite modem being used on the controller, wait at least 24 hours before checking the data on MD or ADLink website. Any questions for incorrect readings or data, call AgriDry ( ). Also, verify the temperature cable is secured to the grain bin floor with a temp cable magnet, light string, twine, or fish line to prevent the cable from moving to the outside wall. Q: We had a wet fall and my grain is wet when putting it into the bin. Will my controller still work for drying my grain? A: The controller can be set to automatically control the fans/low temperature burners as soon as there are a few feet of grain in the bin. With 1 CFM per bushel, the maximum moisture can be 22% or less. IF the grain moisture is higher than 22%, the airflow needs to be 2 CFM per bushel. With the correct grain depth, the controller can automatically run the fan/low temperature burners to correctly dry the grain to the desired target moisture. Q: It is rainy and foggy out, should my fans be running? A: The fan operation is based on the controller settings you ve chosen for your grain. To dry corn to 18% moisture the relative humidity can be about 85%, When the weather fronts change, the humidity sensor does not change immediately and the ground conditions need to become saturated for the relative humidity to rise above 85%. In saying this, the fans may run when it starts raining but will shut down if the relative humidity climbs above 85%. Q: What s the difference between drying mode and storage mode? How do I know which mode to be in? A: DRYING MODE: is used if your grain moisture is higher than your target moisture. STORAGE MODE: monitors the average grain temperature and compared it to the target temperature window. Use storage mode if the moisture of the grain is to your target moisture window.
8 Q: My corn is over dry on the bottom of the bin and still wet on the top. What do I do? A: The EMC Limit setting under the Moisture Control menu on the controller prevents the controller from running when the relative humidity is very low, hence over dry grain. To bring back some moisture in the bottom and keep drying the top, lower the EMC limit number (maybe ) and increase your current moisture setting to two points above its current number. Q: My incoming grain is at the desired moisture, how can I use the controller to benefit my grain? A: Set the controller seatings so it is in storage mode and adjust the target temperature for the desired grain temperature (usually degrees going into winter). The controller will run the fans at the correct time of the day to change the grain temperature but maintain grain moisture. This eliminates over drying and shrink of the grain and saves on electrical costs. Q: I would like to sell my grain here in the fall - how can I make sure I m setting my controller correctly to have it done quickly? A: The rate of drying is based on the airflow in CFM s / bu. To increase the CFM s, either increase the horsepower of the fans or lower the grain depth in the bin. With the bin properly set up for correct airflow, setting the controller with a wide operational window (suggested settings), the grain will dry at the most efficient (fastest) way. If low temperature burners are installed on the fans, set the controller to operate them automatically making the controller to dry 24 hours a day (as long as temps are above freezing) Q: Should I run the fans when the outside air temperature is below freezing? A: You should NOT freeze the grain in the bin. Freezing the grain can cause condensation issues and waste electricity. If the grain is level and the fines are evenly spread throughout the bin, grain will store at 35 degrees. With the controller reading the grain temps from bottom to top, you can ensure the grain is cooled. The controller can be set to monitor the grain temp with the hot spotting feature and temp controls. If the grain has moisture that requires drying, grain temps need to be above freezing before any moisture can be removed.
9 Frequently Asked Questions During Harvest Continued... Q: What is the difference between EMC and CEMC? A: The Bullseye Controller calculates the EMC and CEMC values to operate the fans correctly. EMC stands for Equilibrium Moisture Content and is what the grain moisture would be equalizing to with the current outside air temperature and relative humidity. CEMC stands for Corrected Equilibrium Moisture Content which re-factors in the fan warming effect or temperature differential from outside air temperature to grain sensor one. CEMC is also used to control a low temperature burner to lower the relative humidity. Q: Who do I contact if I have any questions regarding my Agridry Bullseye Controller? A: Please contact our office with any questions or concerns at AgriDry ( )
