Post Occupancy Interviews & feedback after 1 year of occupancy. Manual readings To allow us to evaluate summer and winter comfort. An indicator of good ventilation rates To allow us to calculate and compare annual usage and observe differences between winter and summer usage. To help us to understand anomalies in the data.

12 Resident satisfaction Winter temperatures I haven't used the heating at all. I don't like a lot of heating anyway but the temperature s been fine! I haven't even thought about putting it on. I didn't have to put the heating on a great deal at all and with the thermostat control it rarely came on. It's been really nice & warm. Well the bedroom s always a bit chilly but I've got an electric blanket so that's what I do with the bedroom. I love it here. I love the fact it's so quiet. And it's warm without having the heating on.

17 Resident satisfaction Summer temperatures Q: Were you too hot in your home last summer (2017) F27 Yes in the summer it was unbearably hot and we couldn't get it to cool down at all. K7 Yes, We can't open them (the windows) at the moment because he (toddler) tries to open them [and climb out] so we have to keep them locked - [the big, low windows] are not really beneficial for people with little kids. We have a really tiny, thin duvet with a throw just in case - but my daughter who's in the back bedroom is freezing. She's got a great big thick tog duvet

18 Air Quality Air quality was assessed as follows: Relative Humidity data in all properties. Interviews asking occupants how they felt about air quality. A visual inspection was undertaken of the condition and installation of the ventilation equipment after 18 months of monitoring.

21 Ventilation system key issues: MVHR condensate leaks (observed in 7 properties) MVHR filters not changed (all properties) External insect mesh blocked (all properties) Noise complaints from boost setting being interlocked with bathroom light (all properties) Smells from exhaust of flat below entering flat (observed in 1 property) Valves screwed shut (observed in 1 property)

22 Resident Satisfaction Ventilation When you switch the light on in the bathroom, I've timed it - it comes on after about 2.5 minutes which is not very long. And then it stays on for 30 minutes after you've switched the light off - it's goon at full pelt for 30 minutes and I think that's too much.... we have trouble here of cooking smells entering this place I don't put it on for the air - when I'm going to have a shower or a bath I put the fan on. And then, when it's dry as a bone [I switch it off] The only thing we found when he came to look at it (MVHR) was that we had no manual on it

30 Recurring Issues: Difficulty accessing high windows and rooflights in some of the houses Not enough ventilation in the flats in summer to counteract overheating Dirty filters need replacing at least every 6 months Annoyance with the boost function on the MVHR unit being linked to the bathroom light. Boiler efficiency in hot water mode poor.

31 Occupant Feedback I haven't used the heating at all. I don't like a lot of heating anyway but the temperature s been fine! I haven't even thought about putting it on. it's not thatched roof or Tudor beams or anything like that - but as far as a modern house goes I don't think you're going to beat it. Our bills have been a lot cheaper than where we were before and we were in a flat before! I love it here. I love the fact it's so quiet. And it's warm without having the heating on.
