6 WHAT IS A MACERATOR? To macerate is to soften and break into pieces. Our Saniflo macerating systems use a stainless steel rotating blade to liquefy human waste and toilet paper. When mixed with flushing water the waste is pumped into a sanitary sewer as a fine slurry. WHAT IS A GRINDER? A robust blade suitable for heavy usage. The grinder will accept accidental flushing of sanitary items such as feminine hygiene products. The heavyduty stainless steel blade grinds up the waste particles (i.e. toilet use, shower, washing machine, etc.) and pumps it into a sanitary sewer as a fine slurry.

38 LIFTING STATIONS SELECTION OF THE SANICUBIC LIFTING STATION To determine the right SANICUBIC lifting station, two elements need to be taken into account: - INCOMING FLOW RATE This is the quantity of water to be evacuated according to the type and number of devices connected to the lifting station. The flow measures the volume per unit of time. It is expressed in cubic metres per hour (m/h) or in litres per second (l/s).
