Multi Stage Programs (IMAGE PRESS and IMAGE) Multi Stage programs are used for firing or sintering of ceramics where it is necessary to heat and hold at one temperature and then heat or cool to another programmed temperature. The flexibility of the programming allows you to create many different types of programs. The many parameters available may look complicated, but each stage is just a repeat of the previous stage, and it really is not difficult if you are familiar with conventional furnaces. If you need assistance, please call Imagination and we ll be glad to assist. A brief description of a Multi-stage cycle is as follow: Entry Of Work: This is similar to the beginning of a typical porcelain firing program. It allows you to program a low temperature for drying or preheating, and then a time for raising the table and then a hold time at the temperature. This stage is required for either1, 2 or 3 stage programs. It is especially useful for lowering from the idle temperature to a lower starting temperature sometimes specified by material manufacturers. Stage 1: Stage 1 parameters are identical to a regular porcelain firing cycle and can be used for firing conventional porcelains if needed. Stage 2: After completing entry of Stage 1 parameters, the display will ask you if you would like to add a stage 2. If you choose 1, then the next stage of parameters is presented for programming. If you choose 0, the display will go to the Cool Time parameter to complete the cycle. The second stage if needed, repeats the same parameters as the previous stage. The main difference is that you may program a higher or lower temperature and hold at that temperature. Stage 3: After completing entry of Stage 2 parameters, the display will ask you if you would like to add a stage 3. If you choose 1, then the next stage of parameters is presented for programming. If you choose 0, the display will go to the Cool Time parameter to complete the cycle. The third stage if needed, repeats the same parameters as the previous stage. You may program a higher or lower temperature and hold at that temperature. Cool Time: After completing entry of parameters for a 1 stage, 2 stages or 3 stage programs, the display will show the Cool Time parameter. Enter the desire amount of cool time in minutes needed. The table on the next page lists the parameters associated with Multi-stage operation. 18
