1 Introduction The following specification describes the Toshiba 3-Pipe Super Heat Recovery Multi air conditioning system e (SHRMe) to be installed at the site below: The system(s) shall consist of the following components. It shall be the responsibility of the nominated installer to supply and install these system components in accordance with Toshiba Installation Guidelines. 1) Toshiba Super Heat Recovery Multi Enhanced external air cooled condensing unit(s) 2) Toshiba Super Heat Recovery Multi Enhanced compatible type indoor units 3) Interconnecting U1 & U2 control wiring from Outdoor Unit(s) to Indoor Units 4) Interconnecting U5 & U6 control wiring between Outdoor Units (if required) 5) Toshiba TCC Link Integrated Controls 6) Interconnecting refrigerant pipe work from Outdoor Units to Indoor Units using Toshiba Y-Branch Kits/Header Kits/ Tee-Piece Kits. Indoor Air Temperature 0 C db C wb 15 - Maximum indoor Humidity % RH 80 System Description The installation shall provide an energy efficient R410A Variable Refrigerant Flow (VRF) comfort air conditioning system(s) to the designated area(s)/zone(s) as per the (insert either equipment schedules, drawings, schematics etc) attached, utilising Toshiba 3-Pipe Super Heat Recovery Multi Enhanced system(s) and shall be installed in accordance with relevant codes of practice and regulations. The system(s) shall comprise of Toshiba 3-Pipe Heat Recovery Multi Enhanced outdoor units connected to indoor fan coil units, via the most appropriate and cost efficient combination of Y-Branch Kits/Header Kits/Flow Selector Box/Multi Flow Selector Boxes/Tee-Piece Kits.

2 The system(s) shall be controlled with Toshiba s TCC-Link controls system selected in accordance with the specific control requirements detailed below: (Insert controls requirements) The total refrigerant pipe work circuit can be a maximum linear distance of 235 m between the outdoor and the furthest heat pump indoor unit and incorporate a height difference of: - 90 m - indoor unit below outdoor unit 40 m - indoor unit above outdoor unit The maximum elevation between the highest and lowest indoor units shall not exceed 40 m, in accordance with Toshiba Installation Guidelines. It shall not be necessary to include oil traps, sight glasses, or external driers in any of the pipe work. It is recommended that the air conditioning installing contractor is a Refcom Certified Toshiba Additions Member. Full details on our website: Customer Support. WARRANTY All air conditioning products distributed by Toshiba Air Conditioning and supplied by Toshiba Carrier UK Limited to Toshiba T5 registered installers or Refcom (or equivalent) F-Gas registered installers, T7 approved partner or T7 enhanced warranty partner are warranted free from defects in manufacture, materials or workmanship for a period of:- 5 years - Toshiba T5 registered installers or if installed by Refcom F-Gas registered installers 7 years - Toshiba T7 approved partner or Toshiba T7 enhanced warranty partner. Design Criteria The air conditioning system(s) shall be designed to, and equipment selected to conform to, the following design criteria: Internal Conditions Summer 23 C db, 16.3 C wb, 50% RH Winter 20 C db External Conditions Summer 29 C db, 21.4 C wb, 50% RH Winter -5 C db System Specification The system(s) shall be VRF 3-Pipe Super Heat Recovery Multi Enhanced and multiple indoor units to provide simultaneous heating and cooling. The system will use non-ozone depleting HFC refrigerant R410A and be able to run with a minimum indoor cooling demand of 1.7 kw.

3 The air conditioning system must automatically adapt to the number of fan coil units turned on by the room tenants. The system shall allow a user-driven operating environment to be established where users can directly request their own choice of temperature and on/off control etc. The equipment must be suitable for operating on a volt, single-phase, 50 Hz supply for indoor units and a volt, three-phase, 50 Hz supply for the outdoor units. Outdoor unit shall have an IP protection of IPX4 Gas and liquid both refrigerant lines from the outdoor unit to the indoor unit shall be insulated. Outdoor unit shall be able to connect up to 64 indoor units depending upon model. Refrigerant flow from the outdoor unit shall be controlled by means of twin rotary inverter driven compressor with dual vane technology and diamond-like coating, 4 way valve, oil separator, electronic expansion valves, solenoid valves, and receivers. The outdoor unit shall

5 have the ability to operate with a maximum height difference of 90 meters and have total refrigerant tubing length of up to 1000 meter. The maximum piping length from outdoor unit to last indoor unit should be 200 meter without any line size changes or traps. The outdoor unit shall have the ability to optimise the heating operation, within predetermined outdoor ambient conditions, providing continuous heating to all connected indoor units. The outdoor unit heat exchanger coil has the ability to maximise its surface area efficiency by operating 20% / 80% operation split. The outdoor unit shall include frost detection control, which operates periodically to accurately determine the status of the outdoor coil, with regards to the degree of ice / frost creation on the surface of the coil. Depending on the results of this control the outdoor unit shall include for a hot gas bypass control system, allowing simultaneous operation of the indoor units and defrosting of the outdoor coil whilst all indoor units continue to operate in heating mode, with a small reduction in capacity output. The outdoor unit should include intelligent flow technology, which can adjust both the indoor and outdoor operation, based on the combined feedback of the indoor demand and from the multiple sensors located throughout the system. The control should ensure the flow of refrigerant to the FCU s is precisely proportional to the demand of each individual indoor unit and where demand exceeds the output of the CDU, the refrigerant is evenly distributed throughout the indoor network, ensuring stable capacity regardless of the unit location within the building. Outdoor unit should have a backup operation in case of one compressor failure in one unit. The outdoor unit shall be capable of operating from -25 OC to 15.5 OC in heating mode and up to -10 OC in cooling mode without additional low ambient kit. The outdoor unit shall have a high efficiency oil separator, self-oil balance circuit, oil supply circuit and microprocessor based logic controls to ensure adequate oil amount in the compressor. The operating time of each compressor in a system should be equal to ensure high reliability and capacity control. The transition from one compressor to another compressor should be seamless without reducing its speed or frequency from Min or Max level Compressor should have minimum ON-OFF cycle to increase overall compressor life. The running compressor should retain sufficient oil from other compressor or other module. Noise Sound rating should be less than 59 db for 8HP individual machine, 61 db for 20 HP and 67 db in a combination of three machines as per JIS-B8616 standard measured at 1.5 m height and 1m distance. Outdoor unit shall be able to operate in night mode with or without any accessory with reduced sound level as compared to normal sound operation. The Outdoor unit should be capable to control fan speed by 64 steps & reduce as low as 60 rpm with the inverter drive to achieve silent operation. Compressor should be equipped with 4 pole & all compressor should run at equivalent speed to reduce noise If an alternate is selected, any additional material, cost, and labour to meet published sound levels shall be incurred by the contractor. Unit Cabinet

6 The casing shall be fabricated of more than 0.6mm thickness coated galvanized steel, bonderized and finished. The minimum paint thickness shall be no less than 50 micro meter. The unit manufactures should have the provision of light and heavy corrosion protection coating from the factory as per following standards JRA and JIS Z Test hours for Light corrosion protection; 480hours (paint thickness 50 micro meter) Test hours for heavy corrosion protection; 960hours (paint thickness 120 micro meter) Refrigerant R410A refrigerant shall be required for VRF systems. The outdoor unit should be shipped with adequate amount of pre charged refrigerant from factory. The additional refrigerant shall be added in the system on the basis of piping length and outdoor & indoor unit models as per manufacturer description. Condenser Fan Each outdoor unit module shall be furnished with minimum one direct drive multi blade low noise level DC inverter variable speed fan with 64 steps. All fans should be dynamically and statically balanced for minimum noise and vibration with recessed circular arc shape blade to reduce turbulence at blade end edge for higher fan efficiency. The condenser fan shall be directly coupled and driven by drip proof permanently lubricated DC motor. The condenser fan and motor shall be able correspond to the heat load changes by stepping up or down according to the load requirements. Condenser Coil The condenser coil shall be of nonferrous construction with lanced or corrugated plate fins on copper tubing. Condenser coil shall be made of 0.28 mm copper tube and 7 mm diameter & aluminium fin with pitch 1.3 mm or less and shall have a factory applied blue-fin finish. The coil shall have the ability to vary the flow of the refrigerant, via a 3 way variable control, based on outdoor ambient conditions and indoor unit capacity requirement. The unit manufactures should have the provision of light and heavy corrosion protection coating for the factory. It should be positioned on all 4 sides of the outdoor unit to facilitate maximum heat exchange area and should have separation plate fitted between coil and machine room to promote low noise. The coil shall be protected with an integral metal guard. The outdoor coil shall have the provision of main heat exchange coil and sub heat exchange coil for better heat exchange efficiency. Compressor Each outdoor unit module shall be equipped with two highly efficient hermetic type DC twin rotary inverter driven compressors. The compressor shall have the capability to vary its speed in the steps of 0.1 Hz; this fine control minimizes energy loss when changing frequencies and also creates a comfortable environment subject to minimal temperature variations. Compressor with an internal displacement greater or equal to 64cc shall contain dual vane technology and diamond like coating, maximizing efficiency and reliability of the system. A crankcase heater(s) shall be factory mounted on the compressor(s) and accumulator. All compressors shall be operating on low speed in part load condition to minimize the sound level. The compressor shall be equipped with an internal thermal overload and mounted on vibration pads to avoid the transmission of vibration. Sub-Cooling Circuit

7 The outdoor unit shall contain a pipe within a pipe, Pulse Modulating Valve controlled subcool circuit, designed to increase both system performance and efficiency. The sub-cool circuit can be utilized both in cooling and heating operation. Oil Separator Each outdoor unit shall contain a centrifugal designed oil separator, which is capable of capturing a minimum of 90% of the oil that is ejected from the compressors. Low Pressure Loss Accumulator The outdoor unit shall include within its design a loss pressure loss accumulator, designed to reduce system pressure losses and increase system efficiency. Safety devices: The following safety devices shall be part of the condensing unit: High pressure switch Fuses Crankcase heater Fusible plug Over current relay for the compressor Thermal protectors for compressor and fan motor Recycling guard timer Oil Recovery system Oil level sensor Over-current sensor Compressor suction and discharge temperature sensor Compressor suction and discharge pressure sensor Wave Tool The SHRM-e wave tool allows the user to read and write data directly from the outdoor unit to a smart phone via the use of Near Field Technology. The data can then be sent electronically, where required. Electrical: The system shall be suitable for operating on 230 ( ) Volts / 50 Hz / 1 phase for fan coil unit and 400 ( ) Volts /50Hz /3 phase for the condensing unit. The outdoor unit shall be controlled by advance vector controlled integral dual microprocessors for fast calculation & integration. The start operation of outdoor unit shall be soft start to restrict any jerk load on electrical panel. The control circuit between the indoor units, outdoor unit and control device shall be completed using a 2-core shielded cable to provide total integration of the system.

Single Port (3-Series) Each indoor unit should be supplied by its own dedicated flow selector unit. However, a flow selector must be able to supply multiple indoor units operating as a group if the application allows. If a connected indoor unit is only required for cooling, then the relevant flow selector unit can be omitted. The flow selector unit is to be no more than 200mm in height. Each flow selector unit is to be powered from the indoor unit via a 5 m power and communication lead. A 10 m extension kit is to be available to allow a 15 m separation between the indoor unit and the flow selector unit. Single Port (4-Series) Each indoor unit or group of indoor units should be supplied by its own dedicated flow selector unit. A flow selector can be able to supply individual indoor unit operation or multiple indoor units operating as a group if the application requires. If a connected indoor unit is only required for cooling, then the relevant flow selector unit can be omitted. The flow selector unit is to be no more than 200mm in height. Each flow selector unit must operate on volt, single-phase, 50 Hz power supply and a suggested fused supply of 5A. 4 or 6 Way Port Each Port should serve either one indoor unit or multiples up to 6hp. (A flow selector must be able to supply multiple indoor units operating as a group if the application allows). The flow selector unit is to be no more than 215mm in height. Each multi flow selector unit must operate on volt, single-phase, 50 Hz power supply and a suggested fused supply of 5A.

9 Indoor Units Each indoor unit shall be from Toshiba s R410A VRF range of units and must operate on volt, single-phase, 50 Hz supply. It must be fully compatible with all TCC-Link network systems, including a self-diagnostic TCC-Link remote controller or TCC-Link central controller with LCD to set mode, room temperature, timer, louver (as applicable), fan speed and on/off functions. In the event of a fault, an alphanumeric malfunction code will be displayed. Each indoor unit address is to be automatically set by the system and retained in memory in the event of a power failure. An option to manually set the address must also be available. Electrical isolation of any indoor unit must not affect the operation of the remaining components in the system. An auxiliary 12V DC output is to be available using the CN32 connection. This can be used to operate a ventilation fan via a relay (RBC-SMFI) when the indoor unit is operated. The heat exchanger shall be factory constructed of rifled copper tubing, mechanically bonded to aluminium fins. The aluminium fin material shall be coated with a hydrophilic coating to prevent corrosion and to assist condensate dispersal. The coil shall have a large surface area to minimize noise and maximise heat transfer. An electronic expansion valve shall be factory brazed to the inlet of the coil. It shall modulate the refrigerant volume continuously in response to load variations in the room to maintain a precise constant temperature to within +/-0.5 C (the dead band is configurable and may be set as high as 10 K). A fully insulated condensate drip tray must be fitted, which spans the full width of the coil connections and complete with a drain connection point. All indoor units are provided with a return air temperature sensor. The heat exchanger will be protected against excessive temperatures both low and high. Cold draughts will be avoided when heating by automatically stopping the indoor fan motor when the heat exchanger is too cold. Excess heat is to be dissipated by operating the indoor fan motor for a further 30 seconds after unit shutdown. The evaporator fan shall be of the multi-blade type, performance matched to the coil. The fan shall be statically and dynamically balanced to ensure low noise and vibration free operation and be driven by a permanently lubricated motor fitted with maintenance free sealed-for-life sleeve bearings. 4-Way Cassette MMU-AP0094HP1-E, MMU-AP0124HP1-E, MMU-AP0154HP1-E, MMU-AP0184HP1-E, MMU-AP0244HP1-E, MMU-AP0274HP1-E, MMU-AP0304HP1-E, MMU-AP0364HP1-E, MMU-AP0484HP1-E, MMU-AP0564HP1-E The unit will be manufactured from galvanised steel sheet, insulated with closed cell expanded polyurethane foam. Knockouts are to be incorporated into the main chassis of the unit: One to provide a fresh-air intake facility to allow up to 10% fresh air (un-tempered) to be introduced into the conditioned space; Three further discharge ports (2 on one side and 1 on the opposite side) are to enable a maximum of 2 spur ducts to be fitted to supply improved air distribution characteristics in irregular shaped rooms or to provide nominal cooling to

10 adjacent areas. An integral condensate lift pump is to be provided with a 640mm lift capability from the drain outlet. The cassette fascia panel is to be manufactured from ABS plastic, finished in Moon White (Munsell 2.5GY 9.0/0.5) and complete with four synchronised, motor driven, fully adjustable discharge louvers. Each corner of the panel shall be removable to provide access to the drop rods to enable precise height adjustment. The airflow from the unit is to be configurable from the remote controller to compensate for high ceilings. The central return air grille must be fitted with a washable, long life air filter. An optional kit shall be made available (ref: TCB- BC1602UE) incorporating blockers to allow up to two air discharge ports to be closed to create a 2, or 3-way discharge pattern as required. An optional infrared remote control kit (ref: RBC-AX32U(W)-E) is to be available. Compact (600 x 600) 4-Way Cassette MMU-AP0057MH1-E, MMU-AP0077MH1-E, MMU-AP0097MH1-E, MMU-AP0127MH1- E, MMU-AP0157MH1-E, MMU-AP0187MH1-E. The unit will be manufactured from galvanised steel sheet, insulated with closed cell expanded polyurethane foam. Knockouts are to be incorporated into the main chassis of the unit: One to provide a fresh-air intake facility to allow up to 10% fresh air (un-tempered) to be introduced into the conditioned space; Two further discharge ports (1 on each side) are to enable a maximum of 2 spur ducts to be fitted to supply improved air distribution characteristics in irregular shaped rooms or to provide nominal cooling to adjacent areas. An integral condensate lift pump is to be provided with a 160mm lift capability from the drain outlet. The cassette fascia panel is to be manufactured from ABS plastic, finished in Light Ivory (Munsell 10Y 9/0.5) and complete with two synchronised, motor driven, fully adjustable discharge louvers. Knockouts are to be incorporated into the main chassis of the unit: One at the rear to provide a fresh-air intake facility to allow up to 10% fresh air (untempered) to be introduced into the conditioned space; One at the front to facilitate a ducted discharge capability. An integral condensate lift pump is to be provided. The cassette fascia panel is to be manufactured from ABS plastic, finished in Silky Shade (Munsell 1Y8.5/0.5) and complete with a single, motor driven, fully adjustable discharge louvre. The return air grille must be fitted with a washable, long life air filter. An optional infrared remote control kit with inclusive temperature sensor (ref: TCB-AX32E2) is to be available. 12 The unit will be manufactured from galvanised steel sheet, insulated with closed cell expanded polyurethane foam. The DC fan motor will be configurable, allowing a maximum external static resistance of 100 Pa to be overcome. The airflow from the unit is to be configurable from the remote controller to compensate for high ceilings. Air is to return to the unit at the rear via a washable, long life air filter. A knockout is to be provided to allow up to 10% fresh air (un-tempered) to be introduced into the conditioned space. An integral condensate lift pump is to be provided with a 271mm lift capability from the drain outlet. An optional infrared remote control kit (ref: TCB-AX32E2) is to be available. Refrigerant Pipe-Work All pipe-work shall be manufactured using de-oxidised, refrigerant quality copper to BS EN 1057:1996, and must be heat-treated as follows: 6.4mm (1/4 ) OD to 15.9mm (5/8 ) OD mm (3/4 ) OD to 41.3mm (1 5/8 ) OD - Soft, Half Hard or Hard Tempered Half Hard or Hard Tempered When 1 5 / 8 tube is used, it must be 16 gauge. The length/height difference parameters and outside diameter of all piping is to be in accordance with the appropriate Toshiba manuals. All pipe work will be purged with oxygen-free nitrogen when brazing and capped at all other times. The system will be leak tested with oxygen-free nitrogen at a pressure of between 490 and 540 psig for a period of at least 8 hours. The oil balance pipe (if used) will be pressurised separately. The system will be de-hydrated by creating a vacuum deeper than 4 Torr before the vacuum pump is isolated for a period of no less than 30 minutes. If the vacuum falls during this time, oxygen free nitrogen will be added and the dehydration process repeated until the vacuum is maintained for 30 minutes. Virgin refrigerant (R410A) will be added in liquid form in accordance with Toshiba s requirements. All interconnecting refrigerant pipe work from Outdoor Units to Indoor Units is to utilise Toshiba joint kits to create the most practical refrigerant piping network. Switchable ventilation modes (Automatic/Air to Air/Normal) Switchable ventilation air volume (Extra-high/High-Low) Central control address. Auto-restart. Temperature sensor in use. Two remote controllers can operate a single Air to Air Heat Exchanger. Schedule Timer Controller RBC-EXS21TLE The schedule / weekly timer can be wall mounted and manufactured in ABS plastic with an LCD display. The controller shall provide 3 on/off periods per day in a 7-day cycle with a day omit capability. In addition the controller shall be able to auto-restart the whole system after a power failure and have 100 hours backup memory.

20 (Weekly Timer Mode) A weekly timer shall be connected to either the central controller, Smart Manager controller, and/or each standard remote controller. It should be connected via a dedicated 4-core lead supplied with the timer. (Schedule Timer Mode) A schedule timer shall be connected to either the central controller, Smart manager controller or a local standard remote controller for its power ONLY. It shall be connected to the air conditioning systems via the U3/U4 network for its communication. TCC-Link Central Controller SMART Touch Controller The Toshiba Touch Screen Controller provides a modern compact approach to management control technology utilising easy to use icons and simple navigation to deliver precise control and data analysis. The Toshiba Touch Screen Controller is simple to install and configure and offers three levels of operation and are password protectable. The Toshiba Touch Screen controller features a built-in web browser interface, unit status, unit enable and disable, time and alarm management control and fault indication. The controller shall be manufactured in ABS plastic with a liquid crystal display. It

21 shall be supplied from a V ac 50 Hz power source. A maximum of 10 central control devices must be able to be fitted to a single control network (U3/U4). The controller shall allow the possibility of remotely connecting to a PC. The PC shall be able to control all functions of the controller via a suitable Web browser, including 24 hour / 7 day timer schedules. The Controller shall allow connection of suitable energy monitoring kits (RBC-EM1-PE), via a relay interface (BMS-IFWH5E). Up to 4 No. relay interfaces will be connected to a single smart manager controller. The controller shall also allow for the connection of a Digital Input/Output Relay Interface for the connection of ancillary equipment. The Controller shall allow the possibility of switching the system(s), to which it is connected, on and off from a remote source via a volt-free (or pulse) contact connected at the rear of the wiring panel. It must also provide the facility to shut down the entire system(s), to which it is connected, via a suitable signal (volt free or pulse) from a local fire detection panel. A manual restart of the systems after the all clear is given by the local fire alarm panel, will be required by the user. The Controller shall also provide operation and general fault outputs, via a closed contact circuit (for both system running & system stop fault ), also at the rear of the wiring panel. The controller shall enable the user to interrogate the system and display a hexadecimal fault code for each master indoor unit in the event of system malfunction. The central controller shall display status and provide control of the following primary functions for each master indoor unit or group : Start/stop. Operating mode (auto, cool, heat, dry, fan only). Temperature set point (18 C to 29 C). Fan speed (high, medium, low & auto). Louver position (where applicable). Filter check. Automatic or manual central control addressing with the further option to provide this from the controller. In addition the central controller shall facilitate the use of remote controllers (RBC-AMT32E, RBC-AMS41E, RBC-AMS54E-ES or RBC-AS41E) to provide the user with localised control of the air-conditioned space. When standard remote controllers are used, each master unit must have the capability to control up to 7 slave units if required (all will operate to the same conditions as the master unit). In addition, the interface shall facilitate the use of Remote Controllers (RBC-AMT32E, RBC-AMS41E, RBC-AMS54E-ES or RBC-AS41E) to provide the user with local control of the air-conditioned space. When standard remote controllers are used, each master unit must have the capability to control up to 7 slave units if required (all will operate to the same conditions as the master unit). Each Toshiba Lon Works Interface can be connected to up to 64 indoor units on the TCC-Link Central Control Network. Up to 16 refrigerant systems can be connected to each Lon Works device on a single TCC-Link Network.
