Customer Education 12
Right and Wrong way of installing a drain hose inches Possible Cause if done incorrectly: - Smell - Water left in Tub - Over flowing - Dirty Clothing.
What happens if you don t follow correct installation of the Drain Hose! 1. Dirty Water flowing back into washer machine Water over flowing out of drain or Smells in the Laundry Room 2. + Possible Cause if done incorrectly: - Smell - Water left in Tub - Over flowing - Dirty Clothing What happens if you do not follow the correct installation of the drain hose.. 1 st you might get dirty water flowing back into the washer 2 nd water might come up the drain pipe and flowing on to the floor or causing very bad smells in the laundry room 3 rd the dirty water will flow back into the washer drum and the clothing will smell like sewage. 3. BAD SMELL in the washer or clothing
Maintenance of the Machine Cleaning Diaphragm This can also cause smells Frontload Only! BAD SMELL in the washer or clothing Possible Cause if not maintained - SMELL - Mold Mold can develop if the washer is not properly maintained. Use a pre cycle once a month and check the rubber boot on a regular basis. Customer should Clean this! Do it for them after showing them
What happens if you don t follow correct installation of the Drain Hose! When not in use the door should be left slightly open to avoid Mold or Smells Frontload Only! Possible Cause if not maintained - SMELL - Mold For Samsung Washers it is recommended t o leave the door open when not using the m achine, because not all water is drained mol d and smell will develop if the door is closed. Check the user manual for more details
Maintenance of the Machine Cleaning Drum Possible Bad Smell Self Clean + ( Pure Cycle on Old Machines ) is used to clea n dirt from the drum. Should be used every 40 washes. No deterge nt or bleach needed. + Possible Cause of - SMELL - Mold - Sud error - ND error During a Pure Cycle or Self Clean make sure there is no clothing in the tub Self Clean should be run with no detergent or clothing. Use a Washing Machine cleaner if a mold smell is present. Small amount of vinegar or bleach can also be used. When first using Self clean cycle a Suds error or no drain error may occur, this is typically due to the left over detergent in the drum. The Pre cycle should be run again if this occurs.
Position of the Hot and Cold hose HOT COLD + Possible cause if install ed incorrectly: - Wrong Temperature - Leak
Washer not filling because of customer Education issue + Check if Valves are ON Position Possible cause if not m aintained / water quality NF error Long Fill time Hard water and dirt will cause inlet valve to clog. Clean under running water. Clean the Valve Filter regularly in areas wit h bad water quality In case of a no fill or slow fill don t miss t he obvious check the on and off position of the valves.
Detergent and Softener type + Possible Cause if used incorrectly or wrong soap: - Over Suds - Leaking - ND error - Sud error Avoid cheaper soaps that may include an HE label, but still give your washer over sudsing issues. Stick with the well known name brands
Detergent and Softener type Very important to read the Labels and follow the directions +
Maintenance of detergent softener bleach drawer 1. Check the condition of detergent & softer drawer. If water remains Open the siphon cap of the detergent drawer and fabric softener drawer to check the burr which occurs during injection. 2. Check the condition of detergent & softer drawer. If dirty remove and clean 1. + Might be Possible Cause of - Clogged hoses - Leaks from front - Liquid soap left behind 2. If dirty clean under running water
Drain Filter Maintenance Frontload Only! Might be Possible Cause of - ND Error
Temp Spin Soil Level + Possible Complaint - Water temperature not changing Press Temp to choose the water temperature, there are 5 temperature settings. Note use Sanitize if Extra hot water is required. In Normal mode the Extra Hot will not get as hot, even if hot is selected. Press Spin to adjust the load amount, the amount of clothing in the tub. Press Soil Level to adjust the water amount during the rinse cycle inside the tub.
Proper Loading Guideline Over Loading + Possible Complaint if not followed: - Vibration - Noise - Clothing not clean ¾ of the tub You can fill the tub with dry, unfolded clothes, but do not overload the tub. No more than ¾ full. Overloading reduces washing efficiency, causes excess we ar, and possibly causes creasing or wrinkling of the load. Wash delicate items such as bras hosiery, and other lingeri e in the delicates cycle with similar lightweight items. When washing big bulky items or a few smaller items that don t full the tub completely a rug, a pillow, stuffed toys, or one or two sweaters, for example add a few towels to i mprove tumbling and spin performance. Make sure to use the correct setting If washing bedding use the bedding setting If washing water proof on 2014, use water proof If washing small load use normal
Proper Loading Guideline Uneven wash loads Top load Might be Possible Cause of Vibration UE error DC error Uneven loads can cause vibration or Out of balance errors to occur. Make sure the w ash load is evenly distributed, Large comf orters are known to create out of balanced issues.. Because of the way the unit spin s if a large wet comforter starts to spin the weight of it shifts to one side of the wash dr um on a topload causing an uneven spin th at will trigger an error or cause vibration.
The Water Temperature 1. + Might be complaint of Water not Hot Water Temperature is based on two different factors 1. Customers Hot Water heater temperature ( Never Adjust for the customer ) 2. Cycle that s selected 2.

O EXHAUST AIR FLOW O Select the route that will provide the straightest and most direct path outdoors. O Plan the installation to use the fewest number of elbows and turns. Avoid making 90 degree turns. O Remember a dirty vent may cause heating issues and possible fires so advise the customer to clean out regularly
69
DRYER VENTING HOW LONG IS TOO LONG 4 DID YOU KNOW BLOCKED DRYER VENTS MAKE UP THE MAJORITY OF REASONS WHY A DRYER D OESN T HEAT LEADING TO A SERVICE CALL FOR EVERY 90 DEGREE ANGLE THE DUCT MAKES SUBTRACT 6 FEET OF ALLOWABLE VENT. DRUYER IS RATED AT A MAXIMUM VENT TO BE NO MORE THAN 30 FEET. 2 3 MAKE SURE YOU CHCECK THE FILTER BEFORE RUNNING TESTS IN THIS EXAMPLE THE DRYER VENT MAKES 4 X 90 DEGREE TURNS. 4 X 6 (FEET) IS 24 FEET. THIS THEN MEANS THAT THE VENT INCLUDING THE 90 DEGREE TURNS SHOULD BE NO LONGER THAN 6 FEET TO THE OUTSIDE VENT 1 30 FEET MAX. SUBTRACT 24 FEET (4 6 FEET) 6 FEET REMAINING
Things to know - Sensor Dry / Time Dry Sensor Bars The sensor dry area will be marked on every machine. When using sensor dry the sensor bars in the front of the dryer will detect the dryness of clothing. If a small load is being dried and wet clothing is not touching the sensor bars, the machine will recalculate the remaining time left and speed up or stop the drying process. When drying smaller loads choose time dry. Time dry will not use the sensor bars as a reference point when drying clothing. Time dry will dry for the amount of time you select.
Test 1 Simple way to check if the Sensor bar is working! POWER ON Example DV42H
Test 2 Checking the Sensor bar at the board
Things to know - Wrinkle Prevent Customer Education Models with wrinkle prevent option may create some confusion for the customer. After the unit stops drying it will continue to spin/stop this is normal to prevent clothing from wrinkling the unit will continue to spin and stop for a while. The customer may complain about the unit not stopping or spinning for no reason (Please explain to the customer and check this option)
