2 ***IMPORTANT SAFETY PROCEDURES*** Your new CD/DVD shredder incorporates powerful, heavy duty cutting mechanisms, serious and permanent injury may result if proper precautions are not followed. 1. This equipment should never be operated by children or individuals that are untrained or incapable of understanding these safety precautions! 2. Do not reach into the feed opening for any reason! Never insert fingers, hands, other extremities, or objects not meant to be shredded into the feed opening! 3. Do not operate or come in close proximity to this equipment wearing long hair, necktie, loose clothing, or jewelry which may activate a photoelectric on/off switch and/or be pulled into the shredder. 4. Maintenance or repair of this equipment should be performed only be trained, authorized service personnel. 5. Always disconnect electrical power (unplug) before removing or opening the cover or other panels providing access to internal mechanisms. 3 Table of Contents READ CAREFULLY BEFORE USING Proper care of your new CD/DVD shredder will ensure many years of trouble free operation, with minimum of maintenance or repair. IMPORTANT: Please note that all packaging should be retained by the customer for (30) days from the time of receipt. In the event that this unit needs to be sent back for replacement or repair this packaging will be required to do so. Should the packaging have been discarded before the (30) day requested period, packaging costs will be incurred by the customer. 4 SAFETY PRECAUTIONS The door must be closed when operating the shredder. Ensure free access to mains. Automatic standby that switches off after 1 hour; green LED control light is off. 4

7 INSTALLATION Installing the oiler: Take the oiler holder out of the cabinet and hook it into the side of the cabinet (A). Remove the lid from the oil bottle (B) Put the oil tube into the oil bottle and screw on (C) Click the tube into the connection (D) Insert the plastic bag in the container. Note: Must use SEM proprietary Anti Static Bag #638ASB0201. If not used static will affect machines performance and may void warranty. Close the door; Plug into wall socket. 7

8 OPERATION l' o 0 ECCO o ~ o d A When Using for the first time the oil pump starts automatically: Press after approximately 30 seconds red blinking LED (A) disappears. ECC 0 oo o oo o A When the oil bottle (B) is changed: Press the rocker switch R until the red LED (A) no longer blinks red. o A ECC B A Flashing LED (A): Cutting shafts are automatically oiled. Warning: Materials other than CD s or DVDs may jam and /or damage the cutting unit. Shredding Paper may void Warranty. NO PAPER! 8

9 OPERATION Cont. Press the rocker switch (1.): green light is on, The machine is now ready for operation. Machine starts automatically when CD/DVD is inserted. (Note: The machine will automatically switch off after one hour and the green LED control light will turn off.) When the machine is switched off continuous operation can be switched on. Press or hold until the machine starts. To switch off the continuous operation press or hold or R Note: Feed one CD or DVD at a time only, through small slot only as shown in (2.) A B C LED shows red (A). Stops automatically if too many CD/DVDs are inserted. LED shows yellow (B). Maximum CD/DVDs capacity during shredding process. LED Shows green (C). Normal CD/DVDs capacity during shredding process. Important: Between CD/DVDs insertion allow the machine to return to the LED green light. (C) If you insert CD/DVDs while the LED yellow light (B) is lit you may cause a jam, (See page 11 for jams). Stops automatically when no further CD/DVDs are inserted. By continuous operation press or R switch off. 9

10 OPERATION Cont. Stops automatically when door is opened symbols and flash alternatively. Stops automatically when plastic bag is full. Enough (half full, because of weight, otherwise it is too heavy to be transported) ~. The bag full indicator lights. Stops automatically if too many CD/DVDs are inserted. 11 OPERATION Cont. If required: (Jam) Open the safety flap (1.) Remove CD/DVD (2.) Reset by pressing the rocker switch. Re-feed the CD/DVD. 11

12 TROUBLESHOOTING Machine will not start. Is the machine plugged in? Is the rocker switch pressed? Is the green light rocker switch ON? (1) Feed only one CD/DVD at a time into the opening (2). 12

13 TROUBLESHOOTING Cont. Feed the CD/DVD into the center of the feed opening. (photo cell) (A) Is the door open? Is the container half full? Note: Container will not fill all the way this is a factory setting. If filled completely then container would be to heavy. 13

14 TROUBLESHOOTING Cont. Machine will not stop. Unplug from the main. Clean the photo cell (A) with a small brush or Q-tip with isopropyl (rubbing alcohol) By continuous operation press or R switch off. Machine stops. Symbols and R flash alternatively. Overload protection. Cooling down period approximately minutes. Symbol lights green, machine is ready for operation. ~. Container indicator illuminates but bag is not half full. Remove container (A) Clean the level sensor with a brush (B) or Q-tip with isopropyl (rubbing alcohol) 14

17 TECHNICAL INFORMATION Do not shred paper clips. Do not destroy Paper. This machine is approved by independent safety laboratories and is in compliance with the EC-regulations 98/37/EG, 2006/95/EG and 2004/108/EG. Since 1/29/09 will be replaced by 2006/42/EG from12/29/2009 ( Sound Level Information: The sound level at the work place is less than the ISO 7779 standard maximum permissible level of<70 db (A). The exact technical specifications can be found on the technical specifications sticker on the machine. To claim under guarantee, the machine must still carry its original identification label. 27 SEM PRODUCT WARRANTY SEM warrants, for a period of time listed below from date of shipment, that product will be free from defects in material and workmanship when used under normal operating conditions. Excluded from warranty coverage are normal wear items and electrical components. These items include and are not limited to Knives, Cutters, Belts, Chains, Switches, PC Boards, Optics and other electrical contactors. These items are not included for consideration unless the components are deemed defective. Any purchased part used in the assembly of a SEM System will carry the manufacturer s original warranty for the original SEM customer. Warranty does not cover damages by freight handlers, misuse, neglect, acts of nature, unauthorized modifications or the use of other than the factory SEM components.
