2 1. General This specification decribes the scope of delivery regarding a single stage vacuum Short Path Distillation plant for laboratory purposes. The system is designed for free standing assembly on laboratory benches / fume hoods with splash protection. The plant is design for max. 100 ml batches of final product (distillate or residue). The unit is designed for manual operation in non Ex areas. Required utilities: Electric power supply: 230V (1L, N, PE) 50 Hz, (Schuko-plug) in connection with option D one additional power supply 230V (1L, N, PE) 50 Hz is required Dry Ice / liquid nitrogen Cooling water Fresh air supply / venting and exhaust for the vacuum system outlet 2. Feed System Graduated dosing vessel made of Borosilicate glass 3.3 (Duran), volume 100 ml, manually operated dosing needle 3. Distillation Unit Short Path Evaporator made of Borosilicate glass 3.3 (Duran) with internal condenser for water cooling Self cleaning roller wiper system with rotary lead through (made of FPM) Wiper drive motor with digital display and connecting coupling and continuously adjustable speed. OPTIONS: Following Options are available: A) Electrical equipment: 1 Connection plug board (4 x three pin/schuko socket) B) Buttom plate (vat) made of stainless steel approx. 1 m x 0,53 m C) Heating unit for max. 250 C (2 kw) instead of heating unit 200 C, 230V 50/60 Hz, at temperatures above 200 C the operation under a laboratory fume hood is required. D) Heatable version of feed vessel (jacketed) and heating unit C (2 kw), 230V 50 Hz E) Air cooled oil diffusion pump with bypass pipe, shut off valves The options are within scope of supply only if explicitly quoted in the referring quotation. All other services and supplies are not covered under this proposal and must be arranged by the buyer. Specifically not included in our scope of delivery are all parts and performances as follows: Assembly and start-up of the plant 4/5

5 Storage vessels for the individual products like feed, distillate and residue Thermal insulation of the apparatuses and piping Auxiliary media like dry ice, cooling water etc. ATEX conformity Splash protection Pirani Gauge in the wear and tear parts Fume hood/ venting system / fresh air supply Codes And Standards: Major plant parts will be supplied from Germany, unless otherwise specified. This equipment will be designed and manufactured according to German codes (DIN, AD-Merkblätter, VDE) and standard metric system. If it is necessary to manufacture the plant or parts of the plant according to any other code or standard, this has to be agreed on in each individual case. Expenses for such services will be charged according to the actual spent resources. CE-Conformity of the KDL 1 Basic is subject to 1) Operation of the plant in a safe laboratory hood or behind a splash protection shield 2) Equipment with a suitable power supply with emergency shut down system and 3) Installation and commissioning done by UIC-GmbH, These positions are not covered by this specification or included in the scope of supply Assembly / Supervision Of Assembly: Assembly and supervision of the assembly are not part of this specification. We recommend a separate assembly supervision contract which could be signed on the basis of separate charges according to our current "Assembly Costs Abroad" For all activities on site without UIC's supervision, UIC GmbH can not be held responsible for any damages caused by improper handling of the equipment. Warranty Period: 12 months after delivery. Suitability For A Specific Application: The suitability of the plant for a specific application is subject to a verification in the UIClaboratory in Alzenau-Hörstein. Technical Modification: UIC GmbH reserves the right for technical modification if this further improves the technical, economical and safe functioning of the product.
