HydroBlend TM Water Treatment Product Characteristics HydroBlend is a unique compound blended to exhibit superior limescale (calcium carbonate) prevention and corrosion control in food service equipment. HydroBlend prevents and eliminates scale formation caused by hard water minerals on probes and heat exchangers in the following equipment: Steamers Combination Ovens Coffee&Espresso Machines Dish Machines Hot Food Wells Ice & Beverage Systems Boilers Hot Water Heaters Booster Heaters HydroBlend has also been proven to be effective in cooling towers, misting systems and in evaporative precooling equipment, and improves the performance of R/O systems and water softeners when used as pre-treatment. HydroBlend works in three unique ways: 1. HydroBlend inhibits the formation of scale deposits by distorting the calcium carbonate molecule so when it comes out of solution it cannot build up on itself as a limescale deposit. It also increases the solubility of the water allowing much higher concentrations of minerals to remain in solution, thereby passing through equipment as opposed to depositing as scale. 2. HydroBlend acts as a sequesterant to minerals such as iron and manganese. 3. HydroBlend forms a thin microfilm layer of protection from corrosion on all wetted surfaces. Unlike other anti-scalents, HydroBlend is not affected by high temperatures, retaining its full ability to effectively prevent scale formations in water fed equipment. Moreover, HydroBlend will remove existing scale once formed in pipes and water fed equipment, and provide corrosion control in high temperature environments. Other anti-scalents become ineffective at high temperatures and offer little if any protection, and some types potentially form a silica glass build-up on probes and heat exchangers, which is almost impossible to remove. In applications where water is evaporated and steam is produced as in steamers and combiovens, mineral salts occasionally precipitate out of solution, especially in high hardness areas. However, as opposed to a hard tenacious scale left on heating surfaces, HydroBlend treated minerals precipitate out and harmlessly fall to the bottom of the vessel with a granular

2 consistency, easily washing down the drain when the unit is turned off or wiped out without the use of aggressive cleaning acids. When using HydroBlend, this precipitation of minerals occurs only when the equipment is not regularly flushed or drained. HydroBlend is especially formulated for potable water drinking applications and is environmentally friendly. Please contact JDP for specific testing and certification information. HydroBlend utilizes specially designed product delivery systems which require no electrical connections or feed settings - just place in-line and HydroBlend will do the rest. The accurate and consistent feed rate allows for predictable life of replacement cartridges. HydroBlend comes packaged in a variety of different cartridges, each of them designed for a specific model dispenser which are available in a variety of inlet/outlet sizes. Each model is designed to fit specific applications. Since HydroBlend systems work on water volume, not time, there is no waste with its use. When the product has dissolved, the cartridge is simply replaced. A simple glance at the clear or translucent housing lets one know when replacement is needed. There are a number of complimentary accessories used in the HydroBlend product family. These accessories include; CarbonWraps and SedimentWraps for the ScaleStick Dispensers, Spin Filters for higher flow rate filtration, and even solutions for Cryptosporidium. For further details contact JDP. HydroBlend TM Dispenser Options BP Series Used in low flow applications. This is the most unique dispenser on the market! The BP or ByPass head has a built in valve so that one can replace spent HydroBlend dispensers, or dirty filters, without having to shut the water supply off. By having the bypass built into the head, the cost of the dispenser is greatly reduced, and the installation becomes trivial. The BP series uses ScaleStick TM cartridges. ScaleStick TM is the Low Flow rate solution. ScaleStick tm cartridge is a revolutionary product for applications with flows from 0-10 gallons a minute. ScaleStick tm is revolutionary because: The metering out of the HydroBlend does not require an expensive dispenser. In fact, with ScaleStick tm one can use almost any manufacturers 10 pre-filter housing. The ScaleStick tm accommodates CarbonWraps or SedimentWraps within a single 10 prefilter housing. This means that one can get both water treatment and and specific water filtration within one housing, making this a very cost effective solution! SC Series This series of Single Cartridges is designed for higher flow rate and volume applications. For specific flow rates see the appropriate spec, but in general, the maximum flow rate ranges from 10 to 40 gallons per minute. If required flow rates exceed 40 gallons per minute, then SC series units can be manifolded together to meet the requirements. With the SC series special dispensers are required to meter out the appropriate amount of Hydroblend, so it is important to know the minimum flow rates for the application and then choose the right SC series unit. Many SC series units appear as full assemblies ( DK series) for prefiltration. The SC series can treat anywhere from 40,000 to 500,000 gallons per cartridge. Within this series we also have high inlet water temperature options as well. DK Series When we combine multiple housings into a single assembly, we refer to these units as Deluxe Kits. DK series units usually come pre-assembled with ball valves, and in some

3 cases, pre-plumbed bypasses. This series is common when extensive pre-filtration is needed, or multiple filtration strategies are required.

5 Other HydroBlend Dispenser Kits (full assemblies) DK-610TW A twin assembly is designed to be used for higher flow rate applications with a minimum continuous flow of (5)gpm. It will treat approximately 80,000 gallons of water per cartridge. It features: (1)SC-610 HydroBlend dispenser (1) PF-10, 10 clear filter housing (1) SD-510 (5)micron prefilter (1)WPF-10 filter wrench (2) Ball Valves Applications for all Food and beverage equipment applications where the incoming water is less than 85 degrees F and flow rates exceed 5 gpm. Examples range from large ice machines to entire foodservice facilities.. Continuous cold water inlet flow rate between 5-20 gallons per minute. DK-605TW Identical to the DK-610TW above, but will treat approximately 40,000 gallons of water using a SC-605 dispenser and a RSC-5 HydroBlend Cartridge. Requires a minimum of 1gpm flow rate. Excellent for treating water for the entire kitchen. DK-610EHT-TW A twin assembly designed for hot water inlet temperatures. This is the only dispenser we have that is not available in a clear housing, necessitating periodic visual checks to determine when to replace cartridge. It consists of : (1)SC-610 EHT HydroBlend dispenser (1)PF-10 housing (1)SD-510HOT (5)micron prefilter for hot water. (1)WPF-10 filter wrench (2) Ball Valves Often used between hot water heaters and booster heaters for dishmachines. 6 HydroBlend Dispensers SC-605 Will treat up to 40,000 gals at flow rates between 1-20gpm. Available inlet sizes are 1/4, 3/8, 3/4. The cartridge provided is a RSC-5. SC-610 Will treat up to 80,000 gals at flow rates between 5-20gpm. Available inlet size is 3/4. The cartridge provided is a RSC-10. SC-610EHT For installation on hot water lines, it will treat up to 65,000 gals at flow rates between 2-20gpm. Available inlet size is 3/4. The cartridge provided is a RSC-10. SC-1.0 Will treat up to 500,000gals with a MINIMUM flow rate of 7.5gpm. Available with 1 inlet only. Provided with a RSC-1.5 cartridge. SC-1.5 Will treat up to 500,000gals with a MINIMUM flow rate of 15gpm. Available with 1.5 inlet only. Provided with a RSC-1.5 cartridge. SC-PF Specialty unit for low flow applications. Can treat up to gallons with inlet temps up to 140 degrees. In most applications, the DK-SPS ScaleStick tm dispenser would be a more cost effective solution

7 Replacement HydroBlend Cartridges RSS-CW2 ScaleStick with (2) CarbonWraps to remove odors, chlorine and chlorides and to improve taste. RSS6-CW12 is a sixpack of the above. RSS-SW2 ScaleStick with (2) SedimentWraps sediment filtration. RSS6-SW12 is a sixpack of the above. RSC-PF Fits old style SC-PF HydroBlend dispensers. Treats up to 10,000 gals. RSC-5 Fits DK-605, and SC-605 units, treats up to 40,000 gals at flow rates between 1-20 gpm. RSC-10 Fits DK-610, DK-610EHT, SC-610, and SC-610EHT units. Treats up to 80,000 gals at flow rates between 5-20gpm. RSC-1.5 Fits SC-1.0 & SC-1.5 units, treats up to 500,000 gals of water, at minimum flow of 15gpm

8 Sub-assemblies & components BP clear prefilter housing with built-in bypass valve doubles as a HydroBlend ScaleStick dispenser or a prefilter housing. Designed to be used with water inlet temperatures below 90 degrees F, with water pressures not to exceed 80psi. CB-10 Carbon Block replacement cartridge, fits BP-10 or PF-10. PF-10 This is the old style of 10 clear prefilter housing doubles as a HydroBlend ScaleStick dispenser or a prefilter housing. The Media Delivery Head (MDH) is available with inlets of 1/4, 3/8 & 3/4, PGK1 Pressure Gauge Kit. Recommended for Carbon Block and CarbonWrap installations to indicate when filter should be replaced. PLM1 Plumbing kit. Includes (2) Ball valves, and check valve.
