4 Square D Clipsal Outdoor Light-Level Sensor A3 Instruction Bulletin 11/2007 INTRODUCTION Before You Begin This bulletin provides instructions for installing a Square D Clipsal Outdoor Light-Level Sensor. The SLC5031PEWP light-level sensor measures ambient light levels and automatically issues ON/OFF or ramp commands over a C-Bus network to maintain outdoor lighting levels. Primarily designed for outdoor use, this light-level sensor is also suitable for indoor settings in which a weather-resistant casing is desirable. The light-level sensor can control up to two C-Bus group addresses: one address controls the switching ON/OFF of a lamp circuit according to the amount of ambient light, while the other is used to continuously regulate the light-level output of any number of lamps. The target light level, the margin, and other sensor options are easily configured by using the C-Bus Toolkit software. Before installing an Outdoor Light-Level Sensor, verify that your order is complete by comparing the contents of the package with the items in the table below. Also verify that the catalog number on the box label matches your order. The base unit contains the knockouts for the cable and for the mounting screws. The cover is also the sensor window. The sensor mechanism and four screw covers are mounted on the inside of the cover. Carefully read and follow the safety precautions below. HAZARD OF ELECTRIC SHOCK, EXPLOSION, OR ARC FLASH This equipment must be installed and serviced by qualified electrical personnel. Apply appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) and follow safe electrical work practices. See NFPA 70E. Turn off all electrical power supplying this equipment before working on or inside the equipment. Always use a properly rated voltage sensing device to confirm that power is off. Replace all devices, doors, and covers before turning on power to this equipment. Failure to follow these instructions will result in death or serious injury Schneider Electric. 8 Square D Clipsal Outdoor Light-Level Sensor A3 Instruction Bulletin 11/2007 INSTALLATION Follow the steps outlined in this section to properly install the Outdoor Light Level Sensor. NOTE: Installation of the sensor unit requires suitably rated sealant and weather-resistant conduit fittings (not included). 1. Determine where the unit will be positioned in the designated area (see section Positioning Guidelines ). 2. Plan the site layout and verify that there will be enough power for all the units on the network (see section Network Considerations ). 3. Perform the following: basic configuration (unless the unit will be configured after physical installation), identification, and record the location of each unit (see section "Configuring, Labeling, and Recording the Locations of C-Bus Units" and "Components Needed for Configuring"). 4. Prepare and mount the base of the unit (see section Mounting the Sensor Base ). 5. Prepare a Category 5 data cable and connect it to the C-Bus network and to the sensor (see section "Wiring"). 6. 9 A3 Square D Clipsal Outdoor Light-Level Sensor 11/2007 Instruction Bulletin Positioning Guidelines Network Considerations Use the guidelines below to determine where to position a unit that will be used indoors or outdoors. Position the unit so that the front cover is directed away from natural or artificial lighting sources. Position the unit in an area where the lighting is similar to that in the control area. Avoid dark or shady locations. Select a location where the unit can be easily accessed. Do not cover or obstruct the unit's field of view. If the unit will be used indoors, also consider the following guidelines: Position the unit 6.5 ft (1.9 m) or more above the floor so that it will not be obstructed. Position the unit so that the viewing window is directed toward the surfaces that require illumination. The Outdoor Light-Level Sensor can draw 18 ma from the C-Bus network. Determine the total network current load and verify that there will be enough C-Bus power to support all connected devices. Also verify that the amount of available power per C-Bus network is no more than 2A. Configuring, Labeling, and Recording the Locations of C-Bus Units C-Bus units must be configured, at a minimum, with the unit address and part name before being physically installed on the network. Each unit is identified by a unique serial number found on the box label (see the figure Example of a Box Label with Lift-and-Peel Section ). The serial number provides important information for recording a unit's location. An infrared barcode scanner may be used to read the box label's bar code for the serial number and unit information. Use the C-Bus Toolkit to assign the unit a unique address, and then mark the unit address and part name directly onto the unit before physical installation. You can use the lift-and-peel label from the unit box, or write the unit address and part name directly on the unit Schneider Electric. All Rights Reserved. 9

Lift-and-peel section HAZARD OF UNEXPECTED OR UNINTENDED OPERATION Properly configure, label, and record the location of each unit. Retain location records and provide them to the person(s) responsible for configuring and commissioning the network. Failure to follow these instructions can result in unintended C-Bus network operation. Components Needed for Configuration The following components are typically required for unit configuration. PC with the C-Bus Toolkit software installed. Unit to be configured. A PC to C-Bus network communication unit such as a C-Bus PC Interface (SLC5500PC) or C-Bus Ethernet Network Interface (SLC5500CN). Adequate C-Bus power (SLC5500TPS/SLC5500HPS or device power supplies) to support all connected devices. NOTE: A Powerlink NF3000G3C controller may be used with a PC Interface (SLC5500PC) to configure and operate C-Bus units Schneider Electric. All Rights Reserved.

11 A3 Square D Clipsal Outdoor Light-Level Sensor 11/2007 Instruction Bulletin Mounting the Sensor Base Follow the steps in this section to mount the unit and connect it to the C-bus network. Refer to the figure Components of the Light- Level Sensor. Removing the Cover from the Sensor Unit 1. Using a small Phillips screwdriver, remove and retain the cover screws at each corner of the sensor cover. 2. Remove and retain the cover. Mounting the Base to the Wall 1. Drill out the mounting holes in the sensor base. Refer to the figure "Components of the Outdoor Light-Level Sensor". 2. Smooth the edges of the drilled holes and remove any burrs and remove any debris from inside the base before mounting it. 3. If necessary, drill mounting holes in the surface where the sensor unit will be attached. 4. (Optional Step) Add a small amount suitably rated sealant such as silicon sealant to the unit's mounting holes before inserting the mounting screws. 5. Align the appropriate mounting holes in the sensor base with the mounting holes in the wall. 6. Thread the mounting screws into the mounting holes in the base. 7. Using a flat-bladed or Phillips screwdriver, tighten the screws until the back of the unit is held flat against the wall. Installing the Conduit Fittings In the sensor base, prepare the number of openings required for your sensor wire installation. 1. Using a large fat-bladed screwdriver, remove the 20mm or 25mm threaded conduit fitting receptacle caps. 2. Install the customer supplied conduit fittings into each cable opening to be used. 3. Remove and retain any unused conduit receptacle caps, apply PVC cement to the cap threads, and thread the caps into the receptacle. Tighten the cap using a flat-blade screw driver Schneider Electric. 12 Square D Clipsal Outdoor Light-Level Sensor A3 Instruction Bulletin 11/2007 Rear Cable Entry Conduit Fittings (Optional) Follow the steps below to prepare the sensor base for attaching conduit fittings if rear cable entry is desired. 1. Using a drill and 20mm or 25mm diameter hole saw, cut a 20mm or 25mm hole. A center counter-sink guide is provided on the back of the sensor base to guide cutting. See the figure "Components of the Outdoor Light-Level Sensor". 2. Smooth the edges of the opening and remove any debris that may have fallen into the sensor base while cutting the hole. 3. Coat a customer supplied conduit fitting with a suitably rated weather-resistant sealant such as silicon sealant. Wiring Wiring Guidelines Follow the guidelines below when working with the Outdoor Light- Sensor. Level Verify that the power supplying the system is turned OFF before handling electrical power conductors. Observe national and local electrical codes. Isolate the Outdoor Light-Level Sensor from the Class 1 wiring. Consult your national and local electrical codes for requirements about isolating Class 1 wiring and Class 2 wiring terminals. Consult the "Electrical Wiring Connections" figure for all electrical connections. Prevent wire cuttings and debris from entering the unit. Megger Testing Guidelines Do not Megger test C-Bus data cabling or terminals. Megger testing of data cabling or terminals can degrade the performance of the C-Bus network. It will not harm the units if electrical power terminals only are Megger tested. But because units contain electronic components, the Megger readings will not be correct. To obtain valid readings, disconnect the power lines from the units Schneider Electric. All Rights Reserved.

13 A3 Square D Clipsal Outdoor Light-Level Sensor 11/2007 Instruction Bulletin HAZARD OF EQUIPMENT DAMAGE Do not Megger test C-Bus data cabling or terminals as it can degrade the performance of the C-Bus network. Failure to follow this instruction will result in damage to the C-Bus network. Connection to the C-Bus Network The Outdoor Light-Level Sensor is connected to the C-Bus network throug h a C-Bus network cable that uses unshielded twisted pair (UTP) Category 5 data cable. For optimal performance, use the connections recommended below for each end of the cable. Attach the terminal screws to the end of the cable. NOTE: The C-Bus network connection is polarity sensitive. The polarity is marked on the unit beside the terminals. NOTE: Do not solder wired used to connect the unit to the C-Bus through the terminal screws. Connecting C-Bus to Wiring Terminal Blocks Follow the instructions below to complete the C-Bus network connection. 1. Locate the terminal blocks on the unit. 2. Using a small flat-blade or Phillips screwdriver, loosen the terminal screws by turning them counter-clockwise. 3. Connect the terminated C-Bus network wires to the terminals on the unit. Turn the terminal screws clockwise to tighten them. 4. Verify that the polarity of the connections is correct Schneider Electric. All Rights Reserved.

Polarity markings D. Screw caps E. Cover mounting screw holes Re-Attach the Front Cover 1. Locate the screw caps inside of the sensor cover. 2. Using a small flat-bladed screwdriver or similar tool, gently pry the screw caps off the posts. Retain the screw caps. 3. Align the cover on top of the base and insert the four cover screws into the openings (one at each corner). 4. Tighten t he screws to 4.5 lb-in. ( 0.5 Nm). Do not exceed the specified torque value. 5. Place the screw caps into the screw openings. The caps help prevent moisture from entering t he unit and wiring Schneider Electric. 16 Square D Clipsal Outdoor Light-Level Sensor A3 Instruction Bulletin 11/2007 CALIBRATING THE LIGHT-LEVEL SENSOR The light-level sensor must be calibrated in order to achieve the desired illumination level. Two methods for calibrating the light-level sensor are given below; one for sensors used indoors and outdoors, the other for sensors used indoors. Both methods use the C-Bus Toolkit software. NOTE: 1000 lux is approximately equivalent to 100 foot-candles. Calibrating the Sensor (Indoor or Outdoor Use) To calibrate the light-level sensor for indoor or outdoor use, you will use a pre-determined illumination value. NOTE: It might be necessary to adjust the settings to account for the difference in ambient light present on the sensor and that at the working surface. These differences can arise from the physical location of the sensor, the sensor's proximity to light sources, or shadows or diffusion effects. 1. Determine the preferred level of illumination in lux or footcandles. 2. In the C-Bus Toolkit software, open the user interface for the SLC5031PEWP. 3. Set the lux/foot-candle value by using the slider bar called "Target Lux/Foot-candle" (top right side of the program window). 4. Set the "Margin" slider to approximately 10% of the target lux/foot-candle. 5. Download the settings to the sensor unit Schneider Electric. All Rights Reserved.

17 A3 Square D Clipsal Outdoor Light-Level Sensor 11/2007 Instruction Bulletin Measuring and Setting the Level of Illumination (Indoor Use Only) The following method uses the C-Bus Toolkit software to measure and set the ambient light level. 1. Using C-Bus Toolkit software, open the user interface for the sensor. 2. In the room or area that is to be lit, adjust the ambient light to the desired level. 3. Look at the Ambient Light area on the left side of the program window. This area shows the current light level in lux/footcandles. Use this reading for the next step. 4. Use the lux/foot-candle reading to set the "Target Lux/Footcandle" slider in the top right side of the program window. 5. Set the "Margin" slider to approximately 10% of the target lux/foot-candle. 6. Download the settings to the sensor unit Schneider Electric. All Rights Reserved. 17
