Signs + or - The desired duty point lies for fans with preceding + sign, outside its optimum using area. It is recommended to use a bigger fan size. The desired duty point lies for fans with preceding - sign, outside its optimum using area. It is recommended to use a smaller fan size. Fan type examples: R L M E A R E M W C R Z R : fan - serie : fan - execution : fan - size : motor - pole / efficiency - class : motor - size coded 19: motor manufacturer A = Siemens C = AC Motoren J = Simotop Techtop L = Lafert M = Domel AMCA Seal About AMCA The Air Movement and Control Association (AMCA) is an international, not-for-profit association of the world s manufacturers of fans, louvers, dampers, air curtains, air flow measurement devices, ducts, acoustic attenuators and other air system components. AMCA is dedicated to the certification of performance ratings on fans, louvers, dampers, air curtains, airflow measurement stations, acoustic attenuators, and other air system components for industrial, commercial, and residential markets.
Certified Rating Program (CRP) AMCA International's Certified Ratings Program (CRP) assures that a product line has been tested and rated in conformance with AMCA International's test standards and rating requirements. Each certified product line is subject to continuing check tests in AMCA International's laboratories. Participation in AMCA International's CRP is voluntary and open to members and non-members. AMCA International maintains an up-to-date listing of certified products. The Certified Ratings Programs is the most important function of the Association. Their purpose is to give the buyer, specifier, and user of air movement and control equipment assurance that published ratings are reliable and accurate. Manufacturers' catalogs and published ratings must be submitted to AMCA International's staff for approval before publication. The data in the column AMCA Seal show the standards according to which the respective fans have been tested and certified. - not AMCA licensed AP: SAP: AEP: AESP: FEG: FAP: FSAP: AMCA licensed for Air Performance AMCA licensed for Sound and Air Performance AMCA licensed for Air and Efficiency Performance AMCA licensed for Air, Efficiency and Sound Performance AMCA licensed for Efficiency Grade AMCA licensed for Efficiency Grade and Air Performance AMCA licensed for Efficiency Grade, Sound and Air Performance c = Flow velocity at the outlet Average speed of the conveying medium attributable latest dimension of the fan. For fans with casings (e.g. RZR 10) the area is defined as: - For Installation types A or C (i.e. with free outlet): Area over the cut-off - For installation types B or D (i.e. with ducted outlet) Area in the flange-cross section For plug fans without diffusers (e.g. RLM 50) the area is defined as the circumference multiplied with the outlet width of the blades (B 2 ).
The diameter of the impeller is defined as the diameter measured over the fan blades (blade tip diameter D 2 ). For plug fans with diffusers (e.g. RLM E6) the area is defined as the circumference multiplied with the outlet width of the blades (B 2 ). The diameter of the impeller is defined as the diameter measured over the shroud/back plate. q V = flow rate dp t = total pressure increase p d2 = dynamic pressure at fan discharge The dynamic pressure is related - for duct connection at pressure side (Installation B or D) to the flange section, - for free discharge (Installation A or C) to the discharge section. dp fa = static pressure increase p v = pressure losses at inlet Losses generated by elements reducing free flow section at fan inlet such as inlet guard, drive guard, pulley, reduction of flow section in a chamber, etc. By introducing a value at Pressure loss factor in Options these pressure losses can be taken into account. Pw = power on shaft The power on shaft indicates the required fan power on the shaft (without taking into account losses of drive, motor and inverter). P N = motor rating When calculating a belt driven fan the software selects automatically a single speed motor with the required power margin according to the standards of NICOTRA Gebhardt. If another motor than the selected one is required (e.g. 2 speed motor or a bigger power margin, other IE-Class, etc.), this can be achieved by activating the following function Motor.
P 1 = electrical power input of the motor or inverter (FU) The value P 1 indicates the power input of the motor or inverter (if the motor is controlled by an inverter) required from the mains. It includes the power on shaft plus the losses generated by the motor itself, the belt drive and eventually the inverter (FU). t = total efficiency of the fan (w/o drive, motor and inverter) Definition: ηt V Δp PW t fas = static system efficiency indicates the system efficiency of the fan set including fan, motor and drive. For belt driven fans it includes the losses generated by the belt drive, for inverter controlled fans the losses of the inverter are included. Definition: ηfa S V Δp P1 fa LwA = A-weighted sound power level for the inlet or discharge side According to DIN , part 38 a distinction is made between the following eight arrangements. Depending on the selected installation, the software calculates a value for the inlet or discharge side. L W1 Fan- Total sound power level L W2 Casing sound power level L W3 Inlet duct sound power level L W4 Discharge duct sound power level
L W5 Free suction sound power level L W6 Free discharge sound power level L W7 Casing and free inlet sound power level L W8 Casing and free discharge sound power level nv = fan speed (rpm) Price = Gross sales price of the fan The gross sales price includes for belt driven fans (e.g.: RZR 10) only the price of the fan w/o accessories. For direct driven fans (e.g.: REM 10) this price includes always the motor. For direct driven, inverter controlled fans RZM 10 this price includes the motor and the base frame. For direct driven, inverter controlled fans RLM 50 this price includes the motor, the base frame, and the volumeter. The gross sales prices for accessories will be found in Options / Prices after selecting Next. r.price = relative Price This indication will give you a quick cost estimate of every selection. The lowest price will be indicated as 100%. Based on this price the costs of the other technical solutions will be related individually to 100%.
SFP = Specific Fan Power The specific fan power is a energy parameter for air handling units to DIN EN It enables to compare similar installations and fan systems. There are 7 categories defined SFP-1 (< 500 W / (m³/s))... SFP-7 (> 4500 W / (m³/s)). A low specific fan power requires a high fan efficiency as well as a low pressure drop in the installation. Definition: SFP P1 V dpfa fas ErP-status 1/ Fans In the EU-Regulation No 327/2011 minimum requirements are defined for the energy efficiency of all types of fans with motor input power from 0,125 kw up to 500 kw. These minimum requirements are mandatory from onwards (Step 1). From , step 2 applies even with more stringent requirements. From the corresponding time only fans which meet these minimum requirements may be imported or placed on the market in the EU-countries. The column ErP-status shows the appropriate ErP-status for each fan. Following entries are possible: - does not meet the minimum reqirements 2015 meets the minimum requirements for 2015 not applicable EU-Regulation 327/2011 is not applicable for this fan (e.g. it is an fan for potentially explosive atmosphere or the motor power consumption of the fan is below 0,125 kw) For belt- driven fans the ErP-Status is related to the corresponding motor, automatically defined by the selection program, as well as to a V- belt drive. The designated ErP-Status can be improved by choosing a - more efficient motor (e.g. choosing a IE3 motor instead of IE2) - more powerful motor with better efficiency - Flat belt drive instead of V - belt drive 2/ Ventilation units Roof and box fans fall under the EU-Regulation No 1253/2014 for ventilation units. The Regulation defines the minimum energy efficiency requirements for these units. Ventilation units shall comply with the ecodesign requirements from 1 January In a second step stricter requirements will come into force from 1 January 2018.
From the corresponding time only ventilation units which meet these minimum requirements may be imported or placed on the market in the EU countries. The column ErP-status shows for each unit at Best Efficiency Point (BEP) the following: - the unit does not comply with the ecodesign requirements 2016 the unit meets the ecodesign requirements for the unit meets the ecodesign requirements for 2018 not applicable the EU-Regulation 1253/2014 is not applicable for this unit (e.g.: it s a unit for potentially explosive atmosphere or a smoke extract fan for short time operation).
