Regular maintenance operations such as cleaning the coils and air filters must be performed to keep the units in proper operating condition. ELECTRICAL CONNECTIONS All electrical wiring and connections must comply with applicable local standards. GENERAL PRECAUTIONS CAUTION Before undertaking any work on the unit, make sure that the power supply has been disconnected. Check that the power supply available agrees with nameplate voltage. Use adequate line protection. The unit must be grounded. 2 - Unit packaging Each unit is shipped with a Technical Guide. The decorative front panel is removed for shipping and is packed separate to protect it from any eventual transport damage. Transport packing must removed before putting the window unit in to service. WARNING Before initial start-up, remove the packing wedge from the fan on YO units. 2

4 5 - Installation Unit installation entails : - preparation of the masonry - physical unit installation - connection of the unit to an earthed mains outlet. Physical unit installation : - Remove the filter from the unit. - Remove the front panel. - Slide the unit out of its casing Unit clearances A minimum of clearance is necessary around the units to ensure proper air circulation and easy access for maintenance. Outdoor side Clearance required for units - Place the unit casing in the opening in the wall. Drill holes in the casing to suit the thickness of the wall to enable the casing to be fixed in the opening with screws and wall plugs (see diagram below). Indoor side 800 Note : The air inlet grille must be outside. Preparation of the masonry : Create an opening in the outer wall to suit the external dimensions of the window unit. - Install a bracket (B) under the outdoor part of the unit to provide additional support if necessary. - Fit the unit into its casing with a 1 or 2 downward slope towards the outside. This will facilitate evacuation of condensates. Note : If the wall is particularly thick, make cut-aways on the outside of the hole to enable proper air circulation. 5 6 - Condensat drainage The fan propeller on the outdoor side of the unit has a lip at its outer edge that projects condensates onto the condenser coil. Heat produced by the coil evaporates the water. This increases cooling and heating performances and eliminates the need to install a condensate evacuation line (operating limit : 85 to 90% humidity level). Install the overflow on YO units. 7 - User guide CAUTION : Each time the unit is stopped manually, wait at least three minutes before starting it again. YM 09 YO Control panels 1 - Fan speed selection The unit can be operated in ventilation only mode (i.e. without heating or cooling). Use the fan selector settings to operate. For air circulation in the Heating or Cooling modes, set the fan speed selector to I (low speed), II (medium speed), III (high speed). Blue lines correspond to operation in cooling mode, red lines correspond to operation in heating mode. 2 - Mode selection (on WSH models only) You may select either Heating or Cooling mode or the Ventilation only mode. 3 - Thermostat Adjust the thermostat to the setting that provides the highest level of comfort heating or cooling. Higher numbers provide lower room temperatures, lower numbers provide higher room temperatures. To reduce the temperature in the conditioned space (cooling mode), turn the thermostat button clockwise. To increase the temperature in the conditioned space (heating mode), turn the thermostat button counter-clockwise. 4 - Air-Sweep Mode When the Air Sweep mode is activated, the air flow is automatically swept from left to right. If you want the air to be blown in a particular direction, simply switch off air sweep just before it reaches that position. For vertical adjustment, move the horizontal deflectors manually. 5 - Ventilation The unit either recycles indoor air (closed position) or exhausts air outdoors (open position). Use the closed position when a substantial amount of cooling is required. The closed position can also be used to recirculate indoor air when using the Ventilation Only mode. The closed position should be used to obtain maximum heating on the heating/cooling model. The open position enables removal of stale air from the room by exhausting it outdoors. Fresh outdoor air is drawn into the room through the normal air passages found in most buildings. Stale air extraction damper closed position. Stale air extraction damper open position. 6 - "Compressor" LED This only concerns YO-YM models fitted with this option : the LED lights up when the compressor is operating. 7 - Stopping the unit To stop the unit, set the selector to the O position 5

6 8 - Maintenance The units are designed to operate for long periods of time with a minimum of maintenance. However, the following operations must be performed regularly. The air conditioner does not operate B. The air conditioner operates but produces no cooling C. Evaporator frosted D. No heating PROBABLE CAUSE AND REMEDY 1. Check that the unit is plugged in and that the circuit is not overloaded by other electrical appliances. 2. Check fuses and /or circuit breaker and make sure that power is getting to the unit. 3. If the fuse has been changed and it blows when the unit is restarted, or if the circuit breaker cuts out immediately after it has been reset, do not hesitate to contact your approved service centre. 1. Make sure that the thermostat is set to the right position for cooling. 2. Make sure that there are no obstacles in front of the unit that might impede proper air circulation. 3. Make sure that the horizontal dampers open correctly. 4. Remove the decorative front panel and check that the thermostat bulb does not touch the coil fins since this can cause compressor short-cycling. 5. Make sure that the filter is clean 6. Check that the evaporator coil is not frosted up 1. Make sure that the filter is clean. Wash with water if necessary. 2. To clear frost from the coil, place the selector at the Ventilation Only position. 3. Make sure that all the frost has been cleared from the coil before resuming normal operation. 1. 8 DE-COMMISSIONING DISMANTLING & DISPOSAL This product contains refrigerant under pressure, rotating parts, and electrical connections which may be a danger and cause injury! All work must only be carried out by competent persons using suitable protective clothing and safety precautions. Read the Manual Risk of electric shock Unit is remotely controlled and may start without warning 1. Isolate all sources of electrical supply to the unit including any control system supplies switched by the unit. Ensure that all points of electrical and gas isolation are secured in the OFF position. The supply cables and gas pipework may then be disconnected and removed. For points of connection refer to unit installation instructions. 2. Remove all refrigerant from each system of the unit into a suitable container using a refrigerant reclaim or recovery unit. This refrigerant may then be re-used, if appropriate, or returned to the manufacturer for disposal. Under NO circumstances should refrigerant be vented to atmosphere. Where appropriate, drain the refrigerant oil from each system into a suitable container and dispose of according to local laws and regulations governing disposal of oily wastes. 3. Packaged units can generally be removed in one piece after disconnection as above. Any fixing down bolts should be removed and then the unit lifted from position using the points provided and equipment of adequate lifting capacity. Reference MUST be made to the unit installation instructions for unit weight and correct methods of lifting. Note that any residual or spilt refrigerant oil should be mopped up and disposed of as described above. 4. After removal from position the unit parts may be disposed of according to local laws and regulations.
