Part of the preparation process is the ability of the disabled person to access and use white goods e.g. oven, hob and/or fridge; this is often not achievable with their existing kitchen appliances and new ones need to be purchased. The Occupational Therapist should work in conjunction with their client to assess, review and clinically reason the need for any new appliances and state that they are deemed to be necessary and appropriate to fulfil the legal requirements of being able to prepare food as set down by the Act.
