INSTALLATION REMARKS ON INSTALLATION Note that: installation must be carried out by authorised technical personnel; the appliance must be installed and operated in compliance with local and national law and European regulations. The applicable Italian regulation is UNI 10683; if installed in a condominium, the appliance must be approved by the administrator. Positioning the product The product is designed to operate in all climatic conditions. In special circumstances, such as strong wind, its safety equipment may switch the appliance off. Contact the authorised Edilkamin Technical Assistance Centre. We give some general instructions below, however these do not obviate the need to comply with local regulations and do not affect the installer's liability for the installation. Checking the suitability of the installation space The room must have a volume of at least 20 m 3 The floor must be able to bear the weight of the product and its accessories Level the appliance The appliance must not be installed in a bedroom, bathroom or in the same room as other equipment which draws air for combustion from the room itself, or in any area with an explosive atmosphere. Any extraction fans operating in the same room/ area of the product, may affect its draw In Italy, check the compatibility pursuant to UNI and UNI 7129 in the presence of gas-fired products. 11 INSTALLER

INSTALLATION 12 FLUE SYSTEM (Fumes duct, flue and chimney pot) This chapter has been drawn up pursuant to European regulations EN 13384, EN 1443, EN 1856 and EN The installer must observe both these and any other local regulations. This manual does not in any way substitute such regulations. The product must be connected to a flue system which ensures that the fumes produced by combustion are exhausted in complete safety. Before positioning the appliance, the installer must check that the flue is suitable. FUMES DUCT, FLUE The fumes duct(which connects the combustion chamber smoke outlet with the flue) and the flue itself must, among other regulatory requirements: receive the fumes from a single product (the outlets of multiple appliances may not be conveyed into a single flue) be routed vertically for the most part have no downwards sloping sections preferably have a circular internal cross section, or with a ratio of the sides of less than 1.5 terminate at roof level with a proper chimney pot: the flue may not discharge directly on the wall or into an enclosed space, even if the space in question is open to the sky be made of material rated fire reaction class A1 per UNI EN or analogous national regulations. be certified, with a chimney plate if metal be of uniform cross section or vary in cross section only immediately after the outlet, not at some mid point of its length. THE FUMES DUCT Further to the general prescriptions for the fumes duct and flue, the fumes duct: may not be made of flexible metal material must be insulated, if routed through unheated areas or outdoors must not be routed through rooms where the installation of combustion heat generators is prohibited or there is risk of fire, or that cannot be inspected must enable the recovery of soot and be open for inspection have at most 2 bends with a maximum angle of 90 must have a single horizontal section with a length of no more than 3 metres, depending on the draw. Note, in any case, that long sections encourage the accumulation of dirt and are harder to keep clean. INSTALLER

INSTALLATION THE FLUE: Further to the general prescriptions for the smoke duct and flue, the flue: must only be used for discharging fumes must be correctly sized to satisfy the requirements for fume discharging (EN ) should preferably be insulated, in steel with a circular internal section. If rectangular, the corners must have a radius of not less than 20 mm, with a ratio of the internal dimensions of <1.5 must normally be at least 1.5 metres in vertical length must have a constant cross section must be waterproof and thermally insulated to ensure a good draw preferably provide a collection chamber for unburnt residues and condensates if pre-existing, must be clean, to prevent fire hazards in general, we recommend fitting a tube inside the existing masonry chimney if its diameter is greater than 150 mm. INTUBATED SYSTEM: Further to the general prescriptions for the fumes duct and flue, the intubated system: must operate in negative pressure must be open to inspection must observe local regulations. THE CHIMNEY POT must be anti-downdraught must have an internal cross section equivalent to that of the flue and a fumes outlet at least double that of the interior of the flue for dual flues (which should be spaced at least 2 m apart) the chimney pot receiving the fumes from the solid fuel appliance or that from the higher storey, must be at least 50 cm higher than the other it must extend beyond the back flow zone (in Italy, refer to UNI point ) it must allow for maintenance of the chimney. EXTERNAL AIR INTAKE In general, we suggest two ways to ensure a proper flow of combustion air. Indirect air intake Install an air outlet at floor level with an effective surface area (net of the screen or other protections) of at least 80 cm 2 (diameter 10 cm). To prevent draughts, we recommend installing the intake behind the cooker or behind a radiator. Installing it in front of the appliance will create unpleasant draughts. Direct air intake* Install an air intake with an effective size ((net of the mesh or other protective equipment) that is at least equal to that of the air intake at the back of the product. Connect the air intake to the appliance's air intake with a tube (which may also be flexible). Increase the diameter of the pipe if the pipe is not smooth: assess any load loss. A maximum length of 3 metres is recommended, with no more than 2 bends depending on the draft of the flue. The air maybe drawn from an adjacent room only if: the flow is taken from permanent and unobstructed openings communicating with the outdoors; the air pressure in the adjacent room is never lower than that of the outdoor pressure; the adjacent room is not a garage, subject to fire hazard, a bathroom or a bedroom; the adjacent room is not a shared room in the condominium. In Italy, UNI provides that ventilation is sufficient even if a pressure difference between the outdoors and indoors of no more than 4 PA is guaranteed (UNI EN ). The installer who issues the declaration of conformity is responsible for ensuring these conditions. *Direct connection to the air intake will not make the product airtight. It is therefore necessary to additionally ensure an air intake from within the room where the product is installed (i.e. for glass cleaning). 13 INSTALLER

INSTALLATION CHECKING THE ELECTRICAL CONNECTIONS (the power socket must be located in an easily accessible position) The cooker is equipped with an electrical power cable for connection to a 230V 50 Hz socket, preferably with a circuit-breaker. Variations in voltage of more than 10% can compromise the operation of the cooker. The electrical system must be compliant; check the operation of the earth in particular. Edilkamin is not responsible for malfunctions resulting from an improperly earthed system. The power line must be of adequate section for the power of the appliance. The power cable must not come into contact with the flue or other hot parts of the cooker. The power supply cable must be inserted behind the pellet loading drawer. Power the cooker by moving the switch from 0 to 1 (it is also placed behind the pellet loading drawer). There is a 10 A fuse on the socket with switch located at the rear of the stove. behind the pellet loading drawer. 14 power supply switch fuse compartment INSTALLER

MAINTENANCE Before doing any maintenance, disconnect the appliance from the mains. Regular maintenance is essential to keeping the appliance in good working order. Failure to service the product properly will prevent it from working properly. Any problems due to failure to service the stove will void the warranty. DAILY MAINTENANCE These jobs should be done with the product off, cold and preferably disconnected from the mains. A suitable vacuum cleaner is required. The entire procedure takes just a few minutes. Operations are represented in the figures with the same number on this page. Do not dump the cleaning residue into the pellet tank. Make sure that the ash tray, once re-mounted, is properly positioned in its housing, if not the glass may break by hitting it. Make sure that the grate is properly placed in its housing after maintenance operations, if not, the stove may have ignition problems. Using the cooker without cleaning the grate can cause the gas in the combustion chamber to ignite and lead to detonation 36

MAINTENANCE DAILY MAINTENANCE 1. Open the combustion chamber door (P). 2. Empty the ash tray (B) and grate (C) into a non-flammable container (the ashes may still contain embers and/or hot parts) or vacuum if cold. Vacuum out the interior of the combustion chamber, the bed, and the compartment around the grate into which the ash falls. 3. Scrape the grate with the provided scraper and clean out any obstructed holes. C P b If necessary, clean the glass when cold using a dedicated product (e.g. Glasskamin), which your dealer should stock. Use specific products for cleaning the door glass (see our Glasskamin price list). Do not spray the product onto the painted areas or onto the door gasket. As an alternative to a cleaning product, you can use a cloth soaked with a bit of white ash and some newspaper. Take care that the ash has no solid parts which may scratch the glass. The ceramic glass used on the product can resist temperatures up to 750 C and is tested and checked before and after installation for cracks, bubbles and draughts. However, despite its excellent temperature resistance, the glass is fragile and we advise always handling the door with care; do not slam it shut or force it. Doing so may break it.

MAINTENANCE Cleaning the outside of the stove Do not use aggressive detergents to clean the outside of the stove. Use alcohol - make sure not to use materials which may start a fire. Do not use cold water to clean the stove when it is hot; doing so can damage it. Cleaning the oven Only clean the oven when it is cold. Use a cloth with lukewarm water and a non-abrasive detergent. Do not use abrasive sponges or other scratchy materials. It is best to clean the oven every time you use it. it is easier to clean if there is no baked on dirt, and this prevents cooking residue from burning the next time the oven is used, which also releases unpleasant odours. Cleaning the glass cooktop Proceed as for cleaning the glass. To remove incrustations due to cooking residues, use teflon brushes or non-abrasive materials. Cleaning the cast iron cooktop After its first few uses, the cast iron cooktop takes on a purplish hue. Some rust stains or food residues may appear on the cooktop during the lifetime of the cooker. Clean with a brush or abrasive pad in the direction of its grain. 38 Cleaning the sides of the oven. The oven grille support can be removed from the cooker to ease cleaning operations. Diagram below.

MAINTENANCE MONTHLY MAINTENANCE CLEANING THE SMOKE SIDE We advise cleaning the stove in this way when you note problems with combustion. If the stove has been installed and used properly, this needs to be done every two months or so. Proceed as follows (diagram below) remove the grille and fat tray from the oven undo the bolts securing the fixed tray remove the tray clean the area where the fumes circulate around the oven with a vacuum cleaner. 39

MAINTENANCE SEASONAL MAINTENANCE (to be carried out by the technical assistance centre) This consists of cleaning the stove inside and out. If the product is used intensively, we recommend cleaning the fumes duct and flue every 3 months. You should clean the chimney system at least once a year (check local regulations for details). If you fail to regularly clean and inspect the system, there is an increased risk of the chimney pot catching fire. SUMMER SHUTDOWN During the period of disuse, keep the cooker doors, hatches and lids closed. We recommend emptying out the pellet tank. SPARE PARTS For any spare parts, contact your dealer or technician. Using non-original spare parts may damage the appliance and relieves the manufacturer from all liability for damage due to this. Do not make unauthorised modifications. DISPOSAL At the end of its service life, dispose of the product as required by regulations. We recommend against using compressed air to clean the combustion air inlet. 40 SEASONAL CLEANING Cleaning the flue system To prevent the risk of fire, we advise cleaning the flue before the season starts and whenever you note a buildup of tar and soot. Cleaning the stove Clean the appliance thoroughly, by removing the cooktop and replacing its gasket. Contact your dealer for any further information and for spare parts. Instructions for the cast iron cooktop At the end of the season, clean any stains off the cooktop with an abrasive pad, working along its grain. Finish by wiping off with a cloth and some olive oil. This protects the cooktop against rusting during the summer. In accordance with art. 26 of Legislative Decree no. 49 of 14th March 2014, Implementation of Directive 2012/19/UE on the disposal of electrical and electronic devices (RAEE). The crossed-out dustbin symbol displayed on equipment or its packaging indicates that the product at the end of its life must be collected separately from other waste. At the end of its useful life, the user should therefore deliver the product to a suitable local sorted collection centre for electrical and electronic devices. Sorted collection for recycling, treatment and environmentally compatible scrapping contributes to the prevention of negative effects on the environment and health, and promotes the re-use and recycling of the materials of which the equipment is made.
