2 Refundable Containers: In Yukon, all ready-to-drink beverage containers carry a deposit and refund, except for milk, milk products, milk substitutes (rice milk, soy milk), and meal replacement drinks. The value of the refund depends on the container type and size. Aluminum cans pop, beer, juice All 5 sizes Small plastic bottles 5 1 litre or smaller Large plastic bottles Beer Bottles 10 Small liquor mls 10 Large Liquor 500 mls or larger 25 Small Glass Bottles 1 litre or smaller 5 Large Glass Bottles Small Tetra Packs and Cartons 1 litre or smaller 5 Large Tetra Packs and Cartons Small Tin Juice Cans 1 litre or smaller 5 Large Tin Juice Cans Containers must be empty we do not accept containers with liquid or frozen liquid in them. WE ARE ONLY AUTHORIZED TO PAY A REFUND ON CONTAINERS WHICH WERE PURCHASED IN YUKON.

3 NON-REFUNDABLE ITEMS: WE ALSO TAKE, BUT DO NOT PAY A REFUND ON: FOOD TIN CANS (please remove labels) MILK JUGS (cloudy #2 plastic. There is a separate bag for these milk jugs and any other cloudy #2 plastic.) MOST HOUSEHOLD PLASTICS (WE CANNOT ACCEPT MOTOR OIL CONTAINERS). TETRA (IE SOUPS, SOUP CONCENTRATES, RICE MILK, SOYA MILK). Please bring these into the depot. They do NOT go with milk cartons. GLASS FOOD JARS SOFT PLASTICS (Clean, used plastic wrap, grocery and produce bags etc. Although we take these, they cannot be put into the sorting bag loose. Please stuff them inside one of the bags, tie it and then it can be put in the plastics bag.) PLASTIC LIDS (We accept these, but they cannot be put into the sorting bag loose. Please put them in a plastic container or plastic bag and seal it or tie it so the lids won t fall out.) #1 CLEAR (no colour), rigid plastics are sorted into their own bag. #2 Cloudy (milk jugs, vinegar jugs, ice cream pails) are sorted into their own bag. All other plastics go into the mixed plastics bag. If in doubt, put it into the mixed plastics bag.) CORRUGATED CARDBOARD AND BROWN PAPER BAGS BOXBORD, FIBER EGG CARTONS WAXED CARDBOARD MILK CONTAINERS (includes MILK SUBSTITUTES, SOYA BEVERAGES, and RICE MILK in this type of container) NEWSPAPER MAGAZINES AND OTHER GLOSSY PAPER MOST COLOURED PAPER WHITE PAPER WINDOW ENVELOPES AND ANY OTHER ENVELOPES INKJET, BUBBLEJET AND TONER CARTRIDGES RECHARGABLE BATTERIES/OLD CELL PHONES

4 E-Waste (Electronic Waste) Until further notice, we are able to accept e-waste. Some examples of e-waste are: Computers Keyboards Printers Stereos /Speakers Fax machines VCRs Phones Electronic cash registers MP3 players Monitors Computer Mice Scanners TVs Photocopiers Cell phones Microwaves PDAs handheld electronics/games E-waste should be brought to the Depot while we are open. Please call ahead if you have a large number of items or if you have any very large items.

5 Household Hazardous Waste (HHW): We have a Household Hazardous Waste Disposal day once a year, generally in September. Household Hazardous Waste (HHW) are the waste products that are found in our kitchens, bathrooms, yards, basements and garages formerly useful but hazardous products used in and around the house. Some examples of HHW are aerosol cans, mercury and Ni-cad batteries, and unfinished containers of laundry and stain removers, toilet cleaners, wax strippers, drain cleaners, oven cleaners, acetone, insect repellent and weed killer, used oil If you have any of these items that you would normally throw in the dump, please bring them to the depot for proper disposal on the collection day. We are unable to accept these items except on this special collection day. For more information, call the depot at This collection is for households only. Any businesses wishing to dispose of hazardous wastes can make special arrangements please leave a message at the depot and we will pass the message on.

6 Fluorescent Lights: Fluorescent lights contain mercury vapour, and should be disposed of in a safe manner. We have a bulb crusher at the Depot for dealing with both the tubes and the compact fluorescents. Please DO NOT drop off fluorescent tubes or compact fluorescent bulbs when the Depot is closed. They are highly breakable and should not be left leaning against the side of the building or in the share shed until we next open. Please, only bring them in while we are open so we can move them to a safe storage area.
