The warnings, cautions, and instructions discussed in this user guide cannot cover all possible conditions and situations that may occur. It must be understood by the user that common sense and caution are attributes which cannot be built into the appliance, but must be supplied by the user. Electric Power If an electric circuit is overloaded with other appliances, the convection countertop oven may not operate properly. The appliance should be operated on a separate electrical circuit from other operating appliances. CAUTION: Do not use an extension cord with this appliance. 10 Operation 5 Before using the convection countertop oven for the first time: 1. Read all instructions. 2. Ensure the power cord is unplugged and the timer control knob is in the OFF position. 3. Clean all accessories with warm, soapy water or in a dishwasher. 4. Thoroughly dry all accessories and re-assemble into the convection countertop oven. 5. Plug the power cord into the electrical outlet. 6. Operate the convection countertop oven at the highest temperature (450 F) on TOAST mode for approximately 15 minutes to eliminate packing residue and initial traces of odor. NOTE: Initial start-up operation may result in minimal smell and smoke for approximately 15 minutes. This is normal and harmless. It is due to the burning of the protective substance the factory applied to the heating elements. Convection Cooking Convection cooking combines hot air movement by means of a fan with the regular functions (broil, bake and toast). In many cases, convection cooking provides significantly faster cooking than regular radiant type toaster ovens. The fan gently circulates air to every part of the food, quickly browning, crisping, and sealing in moisture and flavor. It produces an even temperature all around the food, therefore cooking food more evenly versus conventional ovens that have hot and cold spots. The convection feature also cooks and bakes at lower temperatures which saves energy and keeps the kitchen cooler. Broil NOTE: BROIL function only uses the upper heating element. For best results, it is recommended that you preheat the convection countertop oven for 15 minutes on 450 F. 1. Turn the temperature control knob to 450 F. 2. Turn the function control knob to BROIL. 3. Turn the timer control knob counter-clockwise to STAY ON and preheat the convection countertop oven for 15 minutes. 4. Place food on the wire rack and brush the food with sauces or oil as desired. 5. Place the wire rack as close as possible to the upper heating element without the food touching it. 10

11 6. Place the bake tray under the wire rack. 7. Turn the temperature control knob to the desired temperature. Cooking results may vary. Adjust times on the chart below to your individual requirements and check often during broiling to avoid overcooking. Meat Oven Temperature Broiling Time Rib Steak 450 F minutes T-bone Steak 450 F minutes Hamburger 450 F minutes Pork Chops 450 F minutes Lamb Chops 450 F minutes Chicken Legs 450 F minutes Fish Filets 350 F minutes Salmon Steaks 350 F minutes 8. Turn the timer control knob clockwise to desired time. 9. It is advisable to leave the door slightly ajar. 10. Turn food over midway through the prescribed cooking time. 11. When the programmed cooking time completes, a bell will chime. 12. To end broiling before the timer reaches OFF, turn the timer control knob counterclockwise to the OFF position. This procedure will manually turn the convection countertop oven off. NOTE: The wire rack should be placed in the convection countertop oven with the indentation pointing down. NOTE: All broiling times are based on meats at refrigerator temperature. Frozen meats may take considerably longer. Therefore, using a meat thermometer is highly recommended. Bake NOTE: BAKE function only uses the lower heating element. For best results, it is recommended that you preheat the oven for 15 minutes on 450 F. 1. Turn the temperature control knob to 450 F. 2. Turn the function control knob to BAKE. 3. Turn the timer control knob counter-clockwise to STAY ON and preheat the convection countertop oven for 15 minutes. 4. Place food on the wire rack and brush the food with sauces or oil as desired. 5. Place the wire rack as close as possible to the lower heating element or in the middle of the convection countertop oven. 11

12 6. Turn the temperature control knob to the desired temperature. 7. Turn the timer control knob clockwise to the desired time. 8. It is advisable to leave the door slightly ajar. 9. Turn food over midway through the prescribed cooking time. 10. When programmed cooking time completes, a bell will chime. 11. To end baking before the timer reaches OFF, turn the timer control knob counterclockwise to the OFF position. This procedure will manually turn the convection countertop oven off. Positioning the Wire Rack: Cookies Use the bottom or middle support guide. Layered cake Use the bottom support guide only and bake one at a time. Pies Use the bottom or middle support guide. NOTE: The wire rack should be placed into the convection countertop oven with the indentation pointing down. Roast NOTE: Roast using the BAKE function. For best results, it is recommended that you preheat the oven for 15 minutes on 450 F. Roast your favorite cut of meat to perfection. The oven can cook up to an 8 lb. chicken or turkey and up to a 6 lb. roast. A guide has been provided to assist you with roasting times. However, we suggest that you periodically check the cooking progress with a meat thermometer. For best results, it is recommended that you preheat the oven for 15 minutes on 450 F. We do not recommend the use of oven roasting bags or glass containers in the oven. NEVER use plastic, cardboard, paper, or anything similar in the oven. 1. Turn the temperature control knob to 450 F. 2. Turn the function control knob to BAKE. 3. Turn the timer control knob counter-clockwise to STAY ON and preheat the convection countertop oven for 15 minutes. 4. Place the wire rack as close as possible to the lower heating element. 5. Place food on any roasting pan and then place the pan on the wire rack. 6. If you wish to use the provided bake tray, you do not need to insert the wire rack because the bake tray supports itself on the oven support guides. 7. Turn the temperature control knob to desired temperature. 8. Turn the timer control knob clockwise to the desired time. Cooking results may vary. Adjust times on the chart on the next page to your individual requirements and check often during roasting to avoid overcooking. 12

Frozen meats may take considerably longer. Therefore, using a meat thermometer is highly recommended. CAUTION: Extreme caution must be used when removing the bake tray, wire rack, or any hot container from the hot convection countertop oven. ALWAYS use oven mitts when removing hot items from the convection countertop oven. NOTE: TOAST function uses both upper and lower heating elements. The convection countertop oven allows up to 6 slices of bread. When toasting only 1 or 2 items, place food on the wire rack and slide into the center of the convection countertop oven. 1. Turn the temperature control knob to 450 F. 2. Turn the function control knob to TOAST. 3. Place food on the wire rack and slide into the convection countertop oven. 4. Turn the timer control knob clockwise to the desired time. 5. When the programmed cooking time completes, a bell will chime. 6. To end toasting before the timer reaches OFF, turn the timer control knob counterclockwise to the OFF position. This procedure will manually turn the convection countertop oven off.
