3 1. INTRODUCTION The company PROTON GROUP LLC thanks you for choosing air heaters PROTON. This manual is an integral part of the product and must always accompany it, and should be transferred to the user. To provide proper wiring and application of the unit, please, study this manual thoroughly before installation. We recommend keeping the manual safe in order to address it during operation. The user should strictly follow safety instructions while installing, using and servicing the unit. The access to the unit must be restricted for unauthorized and unqualified personnel. The appropriate training of the maintenance staff should be provided. The manufacturer disclaims any responsibility for damages caused by wrong installation and misuse of the unit. The manufacturer disclaims any responsibility for damages done by people who didn t study the manual. The manufacturer preserves the right to introduce any amendments to the manual without prior notification. The manufacturer preserves the right to alter the construction which doesn t impact its functioning and basic technical parameters. The air heater is intended only and exclusively to be installed and used for purposes which it has been designed. Any misuse or noncompliance with the manufacturer s instructions may lead to property damages, personnel injuries or death. 4 2. SAFETY PRECAUTIONS Before any actions connected with the air heater, please, study this manual to provide safety. Installation and connection of the equipment to networks must be performed by qualified personnel only, having appropriate access. During installation, start-up, repair and maintenance of the air heater follow the safety rules. Install the unit on a firm base or surface, which can stand its weight. Contacts of a temperature sensor of a fan and protection of the air heater must be connected to a control board and a thermal protection relay for emergency shutdown of power network feeding finned electric heating elements. The electric power network feeding the air heater and control elements must have extra protection against phase failure. Check compliance of parameters of the electrical supply network to the ones indicated on the unit s rating plate before connecting to the power supply. Check grounding. Prohibit the use of the unit without grounding as it may cause property damages, personnel injuries and death. It is forbidden to use the air heater with closed louvers. Ingress of foreign particles and liquids into the unit is forbidden. 4

5 3. GENERAL INFORMATION ErP 2015 PROTON EL It is an air heater with electrical heating. Usage of PROTON EL is extremely effective in the conditions of no-access to the hot water supply. These models are equipped with the ribbed T(ubular) E(lectric) H(eater)s made of high-alloy stainless steel which ensure high intensity of heat exchange and long-lasting trouble-free work of equipment. It is designed for heating air and its even distribution in buildings. Its work is based on axial fan functioning, which charges the air and pass it through finned tubular electric heaters. Heated air is supplied into a room and is directed to the working area by directing louvers. 5

7 5. CONSTRUCTION Major components of the air heater PROTON EL Casing The casing consists of metal components dyed by powder paint, galvanized fasteners and structural components. Fan The fan is fixed in a special diffuser on the back of the unit, thanks to which air flow is evenly distributed on the finned tubular electric heaters surface. This provides its most effective application. This solution decreases noise level created by the flowing air. The fan is equipped with a special small grill which protects the heater from falling in of debris, leaves etc. as well as prevents possible personnel injures or death caused by rotating fan s blades. Rated power supply of PROTON EL fans is 230 V/50 Hz. Motor protection grade is IP54. Operating temperature range is from -40 C to +50 C. Finned tubular electric heaters Heating elements are made of high-alloy stainless steel. For better heat extraction, toroid-like coils with width of 10 mm with additional corrugation are added to the heating elements. The frame for mounting elements is made of galvanized steel. Joint boxes are equipped with clamping cables with IP54 protection. Thermal sensors of overheat protection of the finned tubular electric heaters are fastened on their top and bottom sides. Directing louvers They are made of steel and dyed by special paint, and provide minimal air resistance at the outlet from the air heater. Aesthetic look and high protection from corrosion guarantee durability and safety. 7

8 6. MOUNTING CONSOLE Installation on a mounting console CM 3D Order of installation 6 А М8х М8х М8х B М8х М8х16 М8х Fasten brackets 1 and 2 on the air heater s body using screws 3 and rings 4. Follow the brackets position A, B. 2. Fasten the console under necessary angle (position 5 ) using anchoring screws (are to be bought separately). 3. Install the air heater on the console in the position 1 into the hole on the console (position 4 ). Then putting together holes on the bracket 2 and upper hole on the console 5, fix everything by screws Mount the air heater under necessary angle and fix by screws 6. Attention! Use screws M8x16 to fix the console to the body of the air heater. Noncompliance with this recommendation may cause deformation of the inside elements of the air heater. 8

CONTROL ELEMENTS ECOMATIC PRO ECOMATIC PRO is a control element with help of which advantages of heating and ventilation systems become more noticeable and perceivable as its use provide comfortable inside temperature and significant energy savings due to fast response of the system to changes of climatic conditions in a room. Using PROTON PRO you increase equipment lifetime protecting it from functioning under alarm mode. DEL 550 Control board Protection devices and controls must be always applied for proper use of equipment powered by electric network. The control board DEL 550 has been developed ad hoc for the electric heater EL with single-phase three-speed AC-motor and programmable controller RTS 30. Using this equipment the following options are available: programming by week mode 5+1+1; setting certain temperatures by day/night; connection of the groups of finned tubular electric heaters (finned TEHs) depending on temperature (automatic mode); choice of fan speed (manual mode). For convenient running, the board has operation and alarm light indicators. The control board is placed in plastic casing with IP54 protection and has a transparent door with additional gasket. You can see signals of operating/alarm statuses through the door that increases ease of use. Provides control over Single-phase three-speed AC-motor. 12 8. CONTROL ELEMENTS RTS 30 Programmable сontroller (is in set with the control board DEL 550) RTS 30 is a programmable controller of temperature and fan s rotation speed. Programmable temperature mode with accuracy of up to 0,5 C. Automatic or manual mode of control over fan revolution speed. Week programmability by day/night, working days (days off). Remote controller RC 30 (option). Connection of temperature sensor(-s) NTC 65 (option). High level of energy savings. Reduction of the noise level NTC 65 External thermal sensor (is in set with the control board DEL 550) The sensor is designed to fix temperature in a room and transfer data to a controller. The sensors have IP65 construction, that allows to apply them in industrial buildings (dusty, moist, explosive environments). High accuracy. Ability to connect a group of large buildings.
