1 Product Data MECH Mechanical Filter Air Cleaner Carrier s long and successful history of HVAC innovation continues with the introduction of a new air cleaner product line. Now available to distribution is a product for the residential new construction (RNC) and retrofit markets. As the indoor air quality market continues to grow, dealers and consumers can choose from 2 mechanical filter air cleaners: the MECH014A- FIL model or the MECH020A-FIL model. MECHANICAL FILTER AIR CLEANER The mechanical filter product offering boasts of increased cleaning efficiency and a low, system-friendly pressure drop. The framed, slide-in media cartridge can trap airborne particles down to.3 microns in size, resulting in improved customer comfort and health, and improved system operation. The filter portion of the media cartridge is an electret material, meaning a static charge is manufactured into the filter to help attract and retain particles. The media cartridge is easy to replace simply slide the dirty filter out and slide the new, clean filter in. The cabinet, which houses the media cartridge, has adjustable height capabilities to align with Carrier furnaces and fan coils. The cabinet at the 16-1/2-in. height matches up to the side of Carrier condensing furnaces without a transition. The silver sage unit supports up to 400 lb. in all orientations. CABINET ONLY OPTION Another air cleaning option available to customers is the cabinet only option. 2 immediate investment in air quality equipment. A cabinet only installation can accommodate a 1-in. standard furnace filter until the customer decides to upgrade to a mechanical filter or an electronic air cleaner. Labeling the cabinet with the contractor s name and phone number becomes a frequent reminder to the equipment owners that the cabinet is upgradeable. Contractors can use follow-up annual maintenance visits or service calls to remind customers that they can upgrade to a more effective air cleaning product.
