Place magazines/catlogues in No plastic overwrap Telephone books Phone books Directories No hardcover or paperback books (donate, sell or drop off at AMRD for reuse) Paper gift wrap, Greeting cards Paper wrap for: Gifts, Flowers, Dry cleaning, etc. No non-paper gift wrap No foil/plastic No ribbons or bows No musical greeting cards with batteries
2 PAPER continued Writing/home office paper and Correspondence Note pads Loose leaf paper White or coloured computer paper Copier and printer paper Printed paper Plain and window envelopes Shredded paper Place shredded paper inside a firmly tied, see through recycling bag (no opaque or black bags). No padded envelopes PAPER PACKAGING FOR DRY GOODS Corrugated cardboard boxes Boxes from: Shipping Grocery and liquor store Pizza, etc. Flatten large corrugated boxes and cut down to no larger than 24 wide (60 cm) X 24 tall (60 cm); staples and tape OK. No cardboard boxes with wax coating, e.g., empty shipping boxes made available for residents to transport their groceries home Cardboard/boxboard Boxes from: Cereal Shoes Tissues Pizza Frozen entrees Desserts Detergent, etc. Carrier trays for: Bulk bottled water, soft drinks, cans, food, etc. Cores for: Paper towel and toilet tissue Flatten and place boxboard directly into a see through recycling bag or tie bundles. Do not place inside another box. Remove liner bags and food residue. No paper towels or napkins (include with compostable waste, if applicable) No tissues

Remove paper sleeves and place loose in recycling bag. No straws No non-paper insulating wraps

Remove caps and place Soup, beverage boxes or cartons Boxes or Cartons from: Milk Milk-type beverages Cream Soup Broth Sauces, etc. *Juice/Drink boxes are best recycled at a Depot for refund Empty and rinse cartons. No propane cylinders Aluminum cans and lids Aerosol cans and caps Cans that contained: Food Air fresheners Shaving cream Deodorant Hairspray Empty cans, remove caps and place loose in No steel paint cans No full or partially full aerosol cans No propane cylinders Steel cans and lids Cardboard and metal wound containers All food cans Pet food cans Tins for cookies Tins for tea Tins for chocolates Including metal lids Containers from: Frozen juice concentrate Potato chips Cookie dough Coffee Nuts Baby formula Empty and rinse cans. Put lids inside can. No steel paint cans No coat hangers No pots, pans or baking trays No propane cylinders No metal toys No appliances No scrap metal No metal hardware No wiring or metal cords No extension cords Drop-off scrap metal, propane tanks, paint cans and empty spray paint containers at the AMRD.

Remove caps, spray pump and pull-up tops, and place Plastic trays and tops Trays from: Deli chicken Single-serve meals Prepared foods Baked goods Housewares and hardware, e.g., screws, picture hangers, etc. Containers that are clear or have black bottom trays with clear domes. Empty and rinse trays. No white or coloured foam trays (take to a Recycling Depot) No liquid- absorbing pads No stretch wrap for meat, poultry, fish or cheese No plastic blister packs, e.g., plastic sleeves for items like chewing gum and pills Plastic tubs and lids Tubs from: Margarine Spreads Dairy products such as: yogurt cottage cheese sour cream ice cream, etc. Empty and rinse tubs. No plastic containers labelled as biodegradable (dispose of in garbage) Single use coffee and tea pods Pods for coffee machines such as: Keurig Tassimo Mr Coffee Remove lids. Place lids and filters in garbage. Empty and rinse pods. Place pods loose in Place grounds in compostable waste. No lids No grounds No filters

No plastic paint cans No plastic pails larger than 25L (larger pails should be disposed of via a commercial hauler) No pails for lubricants and oils (call the Recycling Hotline at for drop off locations) Plastic clamshells Clamshells from: Baked goods Fruit Produce Eggs, etc. Containers are clear with hinged or click-closed tops. Empty and rinse containers. Place in No containers labelled as biodegradable (dispose of in garbage).
9 RECYCLING DEPOT ONLY ITEMS These items are not accepted at curbside but can be brought to the following Recycle BC depots for free recycling: Abbotsford Bottle Depot Walsh Avenue, Abbotsford Abbotsford Mission Recycling Depot (AMRD) Valley Road, Abbotsford Aldergrove Return-It Depot Fraser Highway, Aldergrove R&T Recyclables & Bottle Depot South Fraser Way, Unit 23, Abbotsford Not sure how to dispose of it? No crinkly cellophane wrap, e.g. for tea, floral arrangements No stretch or cling wrap No zipper-lock bags No plastic shipping envelopes No biodegradable or compostable bags No multi-layer or laminated plastic film (e.g. chip bags, candy wrappers) No plastic bubble packaging No lumber or construction wrap No garbage bags (all colours) Glass bottles and jars Clear bottles and jars Coloured bottles and jars, etc. Empty and rinse bottles and jars. Labels OK. Metal lids can be placed set aside glass bottles and jars and take to a Recycling Depot. No drinking glasses, dishes, or cookware Whole or broken window glass or mirrors No ceramic mugs or other ceramic products No light fixtures
