2 The XPT for use in a wide range of applications + The pillow-shaped design of the Thermoplates permits optimum flow with sufficient turbulence, creating excellent conditions for efficient heat exchange while minimising pressure loss. Thermo Plate heat exchangers consist of an arrangement of two metal plates that are completely welded together along the sides. These plates are also connected by spot welds distributed across the entire heat transfer area. The position, number and pattern of the spot welds determine the operating pressure and the flow pattern. The spacing between the welded pairs of Thermoplates is variable, depending on the medium used between the plates. During the manufacturing process, the welded plates are pressed apart using water or gas until they reach the desired channel cross-sections. The resulting hollow space for the medium is referred to as the lamellar side. The channel cross-section influences both the heat transfer and the pressure loss. For certain applications additional weld seams are included, to optimize the flow distribution. The inclusion of such flow channels also changes the flow velocities and the heat transfer coefficients. The pillow-shaped design causes turbulence in the current and creates a self-supporting structure. No forces are transferred outward from the individual Thermoplates, i.e. to the next plate or on the mantle these forces would otherwise need to be absorbed by the casing. Multi-channel design on the lamellar side In XPT heat exchangers it is possible for the medium to be channeled in a counter, parallel or cross-flow configuration. Thermoplates, round design In principle, Thermoplates can be manufactured in any size. Also, they can be produced in a variety of shapes and are thus easy to fit into or onto existing tanks, columns, etc.

3 Type XPT Applications Fully welded Thermo Plate heat exchangers are individually optimized for each project in accordance with the technical and commercial specifications, e.g. for heating and cooling, for use as condensers or as falling film evaporators. XPT heat exchangers are also suitable for applications involving contaminated gases or liquids. The smooth, undulating surface allows for CIP cleaning or high-pressure cleaning with good results in comparison to other types of heat exchanger. For certain applications the heat exchangers can be fitted with permanently installed CIP systems. 4 XPT model Solutions Process Therm The Process Therm system is a recuperator (heat recovery system) that allows the re-use of exhaust air, thus reducing energy consumption. The Process Therm unit is installed in the exhaust air duct. With its fully integrated CIP system, it is also capable of handling dust-laden air. The energy recovered is fed to a preheater, e.g. to preheat incoming air. Its compact design, with 150 to 200 m 2 per cubic meter of apparatus volume, allows the Process Therm to be integrated in practically any existing plant. All in all, the Process Therm promises short payback periods and a significant reduction in CO 2 emissions. Therm-X The Therm-X is a self-cleaning heat exchanger developed for heat recovery, cooling and warming fibrous or contaminated process fluids. It consists of centrically arranged Thermoplates, which are constantly cleaned by integrated brushes. This keeps contamination to a minimum and optimizes the heat transfer process. The brushes prevent particles from being deposited on the Thermoplates, thereby extending the operating life of the system The heat exchanger can be operated with various heating or cooling media such as steam, water and ammonia. The heat exchanger is shaped like a tank, thus allowing heat transfer even at irregular flow rates or if there are intervals or interruptions in the medium throughput. Spiral The Spiral heat exchanger can handle contaminated fluids or sludge on the exposed side, while clean media are passed over the inner surface of the plates. Thanks to the spot welds there is no need for spacer pins, meaning that it is impossible for large quantities of fibers to accumulate. The side of the Spiral heat exchanger that is exposed to contamination can be opened for inspection and cleaning purposes. The curved channels provide ideal conditions for flow and heat transfer using a wide range of different fluids, while also keeping the apparatus size to a minimum. Compared with conventional spiral heat exchangers, the pillowshaped surface results in higher levels of turbulence and thus improved heat transfer rates. Gas/Gas Because it is made of stainless steel or high-alloy materials, the Gas/Gas heat exchanger is suitable for use with aggressive gases or atmospheres. The free space between the plates is adjusted to suit the individual requirements of the application. The size of the apparatus can be varied considerably depending on the space available in the plant. The great advantage of the Gas/Gas heat exchanger is the fact that it is capable of handling dust-laden air or gases, which would normally block apparatuses with narrow channels. TP HEX The TP HEX can be made of any kind of cold-formed materials. Its greatest advantage is its elongated form with the resulting longitudinal flow on both sides, which has a highly positive effect on the thermal efficiency. The narrow channels of the TP HEX give the apparatus a small diameter, which in conjunction with the special shape of the Thermoplates, creates the desired turbulence. The heat transfer in the TP HEX is better than in conventional tube bundle heat exchangers, in which part of the permitted pressure drop is lost in reversing the flow direction. Another advantage is the small amount of space between the plates, which results in a compact design with a large heatexchange surface within a limited construction volume. This is especially advantageous for existing plants with limited space. COND XPT condensers are designed and produced in a wide range of individually adapted designs, have proven themselves over the course of many years of service, and are constantly being optimized. They are suitable for wide range of processes and known for their robustness. We supply condensers made of stainless steel and other highalloy materials. The condensers are primarily used as head condensers in distillation plants and exhaust condensers in incineration plants.
