3 p r o f i l e DESIGN & TESTING MANUFACTURING MANUFACTURING Keeping up with our philosophy of doing better & accurate jobs, excelling in in-house production facilities, we have over the years, added state of the art CNC & VMC Machines to achieve higher productivity and accuracy in the manufacturing processes. Consistent & continued R & D efforts have further helped us to upgrade the equipment from Analogue to Digital mode and at the same time making them more user friendly. All software incorporated in our equipment have been developed and put to use by our dedicated team of software engineers. The commonly used equipment of great importance like CTM s, Triaxials, Consolidations and Shear Testing Machines and many more have been upgraded to meet the stringent requirements of various national and international standards like BIS, BS, ASTM & DIN. Some of our products like cube moulds carry ISI certification as a mark of quality but all other products are manufactured to one or the other standard mentioned above. Further, the testing and calibration of the equipment is done with the help of instruments certified by NPL/NCCBM/RTC and thus have authentic traceability. 9 PETROLEUM & ITS PRODUCTS FLOW CUPS IS : 3944 For determining the efflux time of paint, varnishes, lacquers and other viscous products by a simple empirical test. It consists of a container with a stainless steel orifice through which the sample flows. A skirt is provided to safeguard the stainless steel orifice. Complete with a stand fitted with levelling screws. 10 HF56.30 Redwood Viscometer No.1 (Gas Heated) I P 70/62 For determining the viscosity of oils and waxy fuel oils as a time of flow in seconds. The No.1 Viscometer, is for oils having flow times in seconds range. The apparatus consists of silver plated oil cup provided with a cover. The oil cup has a precise stainless steel jet which can be closed by silver plated metal ball valve. A cylindrical copper water bath is fitted with a heating tube and a drain cock. The bath is mounted on a stand with levelling screws. Complete with a spirit level, a collar for thermometer, a stirrer with insulated handle and a 50 ml. Flask. HF56.35 Redwood Viscometer No.1 (Electrically Heated) Same as HF56.30 but the side tube is replaced with a heating element. A variable auto transformer is also provided. Suitable for operation on 220 volts, 50 Hz, single HF HF56.40 Redwood Viscometer No. II (Gas Heated) 1 P 70/62 This Viscometer is for oils whose flow time exceeds 2000 seconds and is suitable for use at temperatures upto C. The apparatus has a silver plated brass cup with a cover and its base is prolonged as a brass tube. A cylidrical copper water bath which is fitted with two heating tubes and a drain cock is mounted on a stand with levelling screws. Supplied complete with a circular spirit level, a clip for thermometer, a stirrer with insulated handle and a 50 ml. Flask. 11 HF58.05 Cleveland Flash (Open) & Fire Point Apparatus (Electrically Heated) IS : 1448 P:69 ASTM D-92 and IP36/63 For determining the flash & fire points of petroleum products except oils and products having an open cup flash below F. It has a Cleveland flash-cup in brass with an insulated handle, a metal heating plate with a circular opening covered by asbestos board, an electric heater with energy regulator, and a gas test jet assembly. Suitable for operation on 220V, 50 Hz, Single Phase supply. HF Cleveland Apparatus Thermometer Thermometer IP 28 0 C. Range -6 0 to C for use with Cleveland Flash & Fire Point apparatus HF58.15 HF Abel Flash Point Apparatus (Gas Heated) IS : 101, 1448 (P:20) For determining the closed cup flash point of petroleum products & mixtures and other liquids having flash point within C temperature range. Oil cup consisting of a cylindrical vessel open at the top and fitted on the outside with a flat circular flange projecting at right angles. Within the cup there is a gauge consisting of a piece of wire bent upwards and terminating in a point. The cup is provided with a close fitting cover. HF58.20 Abel Flash Point Apparatus (Electrically Heated) Same as HF58.15 but supplied with a hot plate and a regulator. The cup is provided with a lid which includes stirring device, a cover, shutter and a flame explosive device. The shutter is operated by a spring handle. A flexible shaft is provided in the hand operated stirrer. A Cast Iron stove is fitted with a metal top plate mounted on an upright member (Gas Manifold) and it feeds a needle valve controlled burner. B-3 HF58.35 Pensky Martens Flash Point (Closed) Tester (Electrically Operated) Same as HF58.30 but supplied with a hot plate instead of the Gas Burner. The energy regulator controls the heating. 12 HF58.40 Open Clip IS : 1448, 1209, P : 66 and IP 35/63 For determining the open Flash and fire point of petroleum products. It is a clip with gas jet which can be fitted on the upper rim of the oil cup. HF58.45 Pensky Martens Tester Thermometers These are thermometers used in Pensky Martens Flash Point Test. Cat. HF IP 2 C -80 O C to C HF58.70 Smoke Point Apparatus IS : 1448 (P :12), IP 57/55 Used for evaluating kerosene oil in respect of its ability to burn without producing smoke. The apparatus consists of a smoke point lamp with a wick tube, an air vent, a wick guide with air inlets, a lamp body and a chimney. A 50 mm scale is provided with the lamp, the zero of scale being level with the top of wick guide. Arrangement is provided for raising or lowering the oil container of the lamp. Complete in a wooden case. It consists of three crucibles as follows a) A porcelain crucible (b) skidmore pattern iron crucible with cover and (c) A sheet iron crucible with cover. Supplied complete with an Insulator block, a sheet iron hood, two glass balls and an iron tripod. HF58.60 Cloud and Pour Point Apparatus IS : 1448 (P:10), IP:15/60, ASTM D-29 For determining the cloud point of an oil provided it is transparent in layer 40 mm in thickness and for the pour point of any petroleum oil. It consists of a cylindrical glass jar fitted with a cork, a water tight cylindrical jacket with a disc of cork or felt at the bottom, a ring around the glass jar and a bath with cover. B-4

13 GREASE, ASPHALT TAR & BITUMEN TESTING HF60.05 Drop point of Grease Apparatus (Gas Heated) IP : 31/57, BS For determining the drop point of greases i.e. the temperature at which the grease under goes transition from the solid or semi-solid state to liquid state. It consists of a brass cup 7.5 mm internal dia at wider end, a metal case and cylindrical metal sleeve, a glass boiling tube, beaker, stirrer and 7 mm dia steel ball. HF60.10 Drop point of Grease Apparatus (Electrically Heated) Same as HF60.05 but supplied with an electric heater and stirrer. Suitable for operation on 220 V, 50 Hz, single HF60.15 Thermometers for Drop Point of Grease Apparatus These are thermometers used in drop point of grease tests. Bitumen, tar, wax, food stuffs, rubber, cement, asphalt and pharmaceutical creams, etc. It has a base with levelling screws on which a vertical pillar is mounted. A head together with dial, plunger rod & cone (or needle) slides on the pillar and can be clamped at any desired height. A rack, pinion and pointer assembly provides fine adjustment to the needle and the slipping clutch mechanism enables accurate measurements of penetration. The dial is B-5 HF graduated in 40 x 0.1 mm divisions. Easy reading is made possible by using a red needle against black graduated figures. Supplied complete with one 50 gms and 100 gms weight without cone or needle. HF60.35 Universal Penetrometer Same as HF60.30 but provided with coarse and fine movement for the head. This is achieved by micrometer differential gearing system. HF60.40 Universal Penetrometer with Automatic Time Controller Same as HF60.35 but has an automatic timer controller. The automatic timer supplies 220 V, D.C. output for exactly 5 seconds to a timing head (built in electromagnet). The timer head allows the plunger rod to fall freely for 5 seconds and clamps it automatically after 5 seconds. Suitable for operation on 220 V, 50 Hz, single HF 60.40

14 HF60.45 Penetrometer Accessories: HF Penetrometer Cone IS 1448 (P:60) and IP : 50 It is used in estimating the consistency of lubricating grease and petroleum. clamps it automatically after 5 seconds. Suitable for operation on 220V, 50 Hz, single HF60.50 Grease Worker (Hand Operated) IS : 1448 (P:60) IP:50, astm d-217 It is used for working the grease. It can also be used as a container when measuring the penetration of petrolatum. It consists of a worker pot in brass casting, a workertop and a perforated plate fixed to a rod which moves freely in the worker top. All the above are fixed to a rod which moves freely through the top plate. HF60.60 HF Penetrometer Needle IS : It is highly polished and tapered steel rod mounted in brass shank to fit into the plunger of penetrometer. HF Bitumen Penetration Kit Bitumen Penetration Kit for determining the consistency of semi-solid bituminous materials. It consists of a standard penetration needle mounted in a brass shank, a transfer dish 90 mm dia x 70 mm deep approx and two aluminium sample containers 55 mm dia x 35 mm deep and 55 mm dia x 57 mm deep. HF HF Transistorised Penetrometer Controller or Timer This unit supplies 220V, D.C. output exactly for 5 seconds to a timing head (Built in Electromagnet). The timer head allows the plunger rod to fall freely for 5 seconds and Cutter for Block Grease ASTM D-217 For trimming the grease block for penetration tests. It consists of a base on which two pillars are mounted vertically. A cutting blade fixed to two guides slides freely on the two pillars. An 'L' bracket is fixed on one side of the base at right angles to the blade and it acts as a guiding edge for the block. A handle is welded in between the blade guides. A maximum block of 150 mm x 100 mm cross section can be accomodated in ths cutter. HF60.65 Stop Watch Holder (Bench Type) It is made of cast aluminium. The push button operates the watch for start, stop and reset by a single lever mechanism which is adjustable for different watch sizes. Supplied without stop watch. B-6

15 VISCOSITY HF62.05 Standard Tar Viscometer (Gas Heated) IS : IP 72/58 For determining the viscosity of cut back bitumen and road tar. It has a cup known as 10 mm cup. The cup is a cylindrical brass tube with a dished bottom. An orifice is provided in the centre of the base which can be closed with a ball valve. A cylindrical copper water bath 160 mm dia x 105 mm with a side heating tube is mounted on a stand with levelling feet. A stirrer with a curved shield and four vertical vanes with an insulating handle and a thermometer support is provided. HF62.10 Standard Tar Viscometer (Electrically Heated) Same as HF60.02 but the gas heating element is replaced by an immersion heating element and an auto transformer for controlling the temperature is provided. HF HF62.20 Engler Viscometer (Gas Heated) IP 212, BS 434, ASTM D-1665 For determining the viscosity of lubricating and fuel oils. It has an oil cup with a lid carrying thermometer socket. The cup is fitted with a stainless steel jet, mounted in a highly polished spun brass water bath. The bath is fitted with a thermometer clip. The whole system is placed on the tripod stand with adjustable feet. Complete with a plug valve for the jet and a stirring device. HF62.25 Engler Viscometer (Electrically Heated) Same as HF62.20 but with an electric immersion heater and auto transformer. Suitable for operation on 220 V, 50 Hz, single HF62.30 Engler Viscometer Thermometer It is a thermometer used in Engler Viscometer tests. Cat. No. Type Range HF IP 8C C. HF62.35 Sliding Plate Viscometer For the determination of viscosity of paving grade asphalt having viscosities in the range of 10 5 to poises. Suitable for testing materials having either Newtonian or non-newtonian flow properties. The apparatus meets the requirements of "proposed method of test for viscosity of asphalt at controlled rates of sheer" and is under the jurisdiction of ASTM committee D-4 on Road and Paving Materials. The apparatus consists of the following :- B-7 One loading unit with eight constant rates of cross head speeds i.e. 5 mm/min, 2.5mm/min, 1.25mm/min, 0.5 mm/min, 0.25 mm/min, mm/min, mm/min and mm/min. One refrigerated water bath, one matched pair of glass plates 30 x 20 x 6 m size, two clamps, one micrometer, one hot plate and one thermometer for testing at temperatures from 40C to C. HF62.40 Ring and Ball Apparatus IS : 1205, IP:58/63 The determining the softening point of bitumen. The apparatus consists of two steel balls (9.5 mm dia), two tapered rings in brass, two ball centring guides, a ring holder and a bath 8.5 cm dia x 12 cm deep approx. HF 62.40

17 BITUMEN - PAVING MIX TESTS HB64.05 Marshall Apparatus (Electrically Operated) ASTM D-1559 For determining the resistance to plastic flow of cylindrical specimens of bituminous paving mixture loaded on its lateral surface. For use with hot mixture containing asphalt or tar and aggregate upto 25.4 mm max size. It consists of three cylindrical moulds cm dia x 7.6 cm high with base plates and extension collars, a specimen extractor, two compaction hammers (4.5 kg) a compaction pedestal, a breaking head assembly, a load transfer bar and a 50 kn loading unit. The motorised loading unit has a uniform rate of vertical movement of 50.8 mm/mnt. Suitable for operation on 220V, 50 Hz, single Pedestal for holding the mould (1No.) Breaking head assembly 100 mm (1No.) Collar for marshal mould 100 mm (3Nos.) Base for marshal mould (3Nos.) Proving ring 50 kn capacity HB Marshal Stability Test Apparatus with digital Display This model reduces uncertainty in mannully recording of the readings load unit and other accessories are the same as supplied in HB except that it has digital display unit for indicating of load and flow since the unit is micro processor based it records the flow at maximum load. Serial port. Serial port is a part of the system for Computer communication. The Unit comprises of i) Load Frame 25kN cap ii) Rammers 2 Nos. iii) Moulds 3 Nos. iv) Breaking Head assembly 1No. v) Digital Display HB64.10 Automatic Bituminous Compactor (Electrically Operated) This new 'HEICO' Compactor automatically stimulates hand compaction as specified in ASTM D-1559 and develops a uniformity in the test procedure. The apparatus consists of a chain drive coupled to the motor through a gear box, and carries a locking device which lifts and releases the hammer through a specified height. Fitted with a counter which trips the motor automatically after 50 or 75 strokes as set on it. 18 HB64.25 Centrifuge Extractor (Hand Operated) For determining the quantity of bitumen in hot mixed paving mixtures and pavement samples. It is a portable unit for use in field and laboratory. It consists of a cast aluminium bowl mounted on vertical shaft and a filter paper disc is pressed in between bowl and cover plate by a knurled nut. A whole system is enclosed in a cast aluminium body. There is provision to introduce the solvent through an inlet in housing cover. Complete with 25 filter discs. HB HB64.30 Centrifuge Extractor (Motorised) Similar to HB64.25 except that the bowl is coupled directly to a motor through flexible coupling. A variac is provided, which is preset to give 3500 r.p.m. to the bowl. The unit is suitable for operation on 220 V, single phase, 50 Hz supply. HB HB64.35 Ductility Testing Machine IS : 1208 For determining the ductility of asphaltic bitumen, native asphalt, cut back bitumen and blown type bitumen. It consists of three mould assemblies on a base plate. A separate mould for casting the specimens is also supplied. A water bath of 10 litres capacity with a perforated shelf for and a thermostat controller for heater. The machine has two standard rates of travel of 1 cm/mnt. And 5 cm/mnt. The movable bracket can be arrested or released without switching off the motor by a clutch arrangement. Suitable for operation on 220V, 50 Hz, single HB Refrigerated ductility testing machine with processor based temprature and speed controller. Same as HB64.35 except that it has stepper motor for control of speed and refrigeration system for controlling and maintaining temperature at 27 o o. 20 HB64.50 Benkelman Beam For determining the deflection of flexible pavements under the action of moving loads. The apparatus consists of a 365 cm long aluminium beam in two halves arranged to give the lever arm ratio of 2:1. Provision is made for levelling the apparatus. An anvil and a probe are fixed in opposite directions on the beam. A buzzer is provided for removing friction in the bearings. For movement of the assembled beam to different test points on the same pavement and clamping, spring loaded clamp is provided. The beam can be levelled by fine and coarse adjustments provided for the purpose. HB HB Digital Benkelman Beam For fast and accurate measurement Digital Benkelman beam is used for the measurement of deflection under load. It has a digital gauge with an accuracy of 10 microns.
