We hope you will consider us for future purchases. Follow the instructions below to ensure that you install the refrigerator safely and that it runs efficiently. PLEASE READ AND SAVE THESE INSTRUCTIONS This Use & Care Manual provides specific operating instructions for your model. Use your appliance only as instructed in this manual. These instructions are not meant to cover every possible condition and situation that may occur. Common sense and caution must be practiced when installing, operating and maintaining any appliance. Important - Before you install your appliance, PLEASE CHECK FOR ANY DAMAGE OR MARKS. If you find that it is damaged or marked, you must report this within 7 days if you wish to claim for damage or marks under the manufacturer's warranty. This does not affect your statutory rights. Important Safety Instructions FLAMMABLE LIQUID WARNING! IF PRESSURIZED AEROSOL CONTAINERS BEAR THE WORD 'FLAMMABLE' AND/OR A SMALL FLAME SYMBOL, DO NOT STORE THEM INSIDE ANY REFRIGERATOR OR FREEZER. IF YOU DO SO, YOU MAY CAUSE AN EXPLOSION. When you dispose of refrigerators and freezers, remove any doors. Children can suffocate if they get trapped inside. This appliance contains insulation formed with flammable blowing gases. Avoid safety hazards by carefully disposing of this appliance. The appliance must be plugged into its own dedicated Volt, 50 Hz, AC electric outlet. Ensure that the electric outlet is properly earthed to ground. Consult a qualified electrician if you are unsure. Do not use an extension cord or adaptor plug. If the power cord is damaged it should be replaced by a service technician or a similarly qualified person. Introduction Page 3 Unplug the appliance before cleaning and before changing any of the light bulbs to avoid electric shock. Never unplug the appliance by pulling on the power cord. Always grip the plug firmly, and pull straight out of the receptacle to prevent damaging the power cord Location Choose a place that is not too cold. The temperature should be above 10ºC. Locate the appliance in a dry place, avoiding areas of high moisture or humidity. Don't put the appliance in frosty or unprotected areas, for example in a garage or on a veranda. Don't put the appliance in direct sunlight. Don't put the appliance near stoves, fires or heaters. When correctly installed, your appliance should.... have adequate clearance to the back and sides for air circulation. be aligned to the surrounding cupboards. have doors that return to the closed position from a partially open position. (Manual push closing is still a requirement). Clearances Around Your Appliance Before you move your appliance into the place where it will operate, check that it will have adequate clearance. Clearance is required for air circulation and too little clearance may affect the performance of your appliance. We recommend minimum clearances of: 30mm on each side. 25mm above the refrigerator. 50mm minimum/ 75mm maximum clearance behind refrigerator. Top: 25mm Sides: 30mm Back: 50mm min. 75mm max.

Installing Your New Appliance: Installation The appliance should arrive with the front levelling feet wound up. The appliance may require to be tilted backward at the top by about 10-15mm from vertical. (See Diagram 1). This will allow the door to gravitate to the closed position. The complete closure of the door seal is reliant on manually pushing the door closed providing a consistent door seal. 1. Move the appliance to its final position. 2. If it is not tilting back as described above, minor adjustments can be made to the two front levelling legs by turning the feet in an anti-clockwise direction. (Diagram 2). This will increase the height of the feet. If you have difficulty turning the foot, you could have someone tilt the appliance back so that you have better access. If it is not tilted back enough and the levelling legs are fully extended, additional packing might be required (see note 4 for appropriate materials). Height adjustable front leveling legs 10-15mm Diagram 1 3. Compare the alignment of the appliance to the surrounding cupboards. The top of the refrigerator / freezer should be level from side to side. (Diagram 3). If you need to adjust the level, use the levelling feet as explained in step If the appliance now rocks from one corner to the opposite rear corner, this means the floor is uneven. You may need to put some packing under a roller at the rear of the appliance. You could use thin pieces of solid material, such as thin board, vinyl floor tiles or laminate. 5. You may now need to fine-tune the installation by repeating steps 2,3 and 4. Parallel to cupboards Diagram 2 Spirit level Adjust levelling leg or add packing if floor is uneven. 6. Wipe off any dust that has accumulated during shipping and clean following the directions on page 11. Diagram 3 7. Plug the appliance into the power point. Don't use a double adaptor or extension cord. 8. It is recommended that you let the appliance operate for two or three hours before you put any food in it. This will confirm that it is operating correctly and make the conditions appropriate for food storage. Congratulations! You have successfully installed your refrigerator / freezer. Page 4

Refrigerator / Freezer Operation Initial Start-up Your appliance was cleaned and polished before it left the factory. Before use, dust and wipe over inside and out, using a clean dry cloth. This product is designed to operate on a power supply of 220 / 240 volts 50 hertz. Connect to a separate power point with a correctly earthed three pin socket. Do not use double adaptors. Controlling The Temperature In The Refrigerator Compartment The refrigerator transfers heat from food placed inside the refrigerator to the outside air. This process makes the rear, the sides and the area adjacent to the doors feel warm, particularly at the initial start up. This is normal. Make sure you fully close the refrigerator door after you load or remove food. Ensure shelves are pushed completely back to prevent them holding the door open. If the unit is unplugged, power lost, or turned off, you must wait 5 minutes before restarting the unit. If you attempt to restart before this time delay, the refrigerator will not start. When the control knob is turned to its lowest setting and past the point of resistance, the appliance will not operate. WARNING! Power is still supplied to the appliance. To make the refrigerator operate, you must turn the knob clockwise. For all models value 'Less Cold corresponds to the warmest temperature and value 'Colder the coldest. When the ambient room temperature is 16ºC, a setting of half way between Less Cold and Mid would be appropriate. When the ambient room temperature is 25ºC, a setting of half way between Mid and Colder could be selected. Controlling The Temperature In The Freezer Compartment The freezer slide control is used to balance the air flow between the freezer and the refrigerator compartments. The main temperature control is the control knob in the refrigerator compartment. For optimum (best) performance, position the freezer control on Less Cold. If the food is not frozen enough, you may be required to move the slide control towards the Colder position. WAIT 24 HOURS AFTER CHANGING SETTINGS: When you change temperature settings, make small adjustments and wait 24 hours before assessing whether you need to make any further changes. Defrosting Defrosting takes place automatically. The defrost water flows down to the evaporating tray, which is located in the machine compartment, and is evaporated automatically. Page 7

Refrigerator / Freezer Operation General Information The refrigerator/freezer transfers heat from food placed inside to the outside air. This process makes the rear and sides of the outer cabinet, particularly at the initial start-up, feel warm to touch. This is normal. Make sure you fully close the doors after you load or remove food. Ensure the crisper and shelves are pushed all the way in to prevent the doors being held open. If the unit is unplugged, power lost, or turned off, you must wait 5 minutes before restarting the unit. If you attempt to restart before this time delay, the appliance will not start. Features And General Hints Try not to leave the doors open for too long, especially in warm and humid climates. It is recommend that you wrap all foods for freezer storage in freezer bags. If going away for an extended period, turn the appliance off, remove all foods and dry the interior. Disconnect the electrical cord and leave the doors open. If there's a power failure, do not open the freezer door. Frozen foods will stay frozen for up to 24 hours depending on temperature and load conditions if the door is kept closed. Ice Making To make ice cubes, fill the ice tray with water and place it in the ice box. To remove ice cubes easily, run water on the tray before gently twisting the tray and inverting. Suggestions on Food Storage Refrigerator Compartment Store fresh food in the refrigerator compartment. How food is frozen and thawed is an important factor in maintaining its freshness and flavour. Do not store food that goes bad easily at low temperatures, such as bananas, pineapples and melons. Give hot food time to cool prior to storing. Placing hot food in the refrigerator could spoil other food, and lead to higher power bills! When storing, cover food with cling wrap or store in a container with a lid. This will prevent moisture from evaporating, and helps food keep its taste and nutrients. Do not block air vents with food. Smooth circulation of chilled air keeps refrigerator temperatures even. Do not open the door frequently. Opening the door lets warm air enter the refrigerator, causing temperatures to rise. Avoid placing moist food deep inside refrigerator shelves. It could freeze upon direct contact with the cold air straight from the vents. Always clean food prior to refrigeration. Vegetables and fruits should be washed and wiped, and packed food should be wiped clean, to prevent adjacent food from spoiling. When storing eggs in the racks provided, ensure that they are fresh, and always store them in and up-right position, which keeps them fresh longer. Freezer Compartment Do not store bottles in the freezer compartment - they may break when frozen. Do not re-freeze food that has been thawed. This causes a loss of taste and nutrition. When storing frozen food like ice-cream for an extended period, place it on the freezer shelf, not in the door rack. Page 8

Removing the Chiller Drawer and Door Instructions for Model RJ202T In order to access the light housing, the chiller door and chiller drawer need to be removed. To Remove The Chiller Door: There is a node on each side at the top of the chiller door. These nodes allow the door to swivel open and shut and also secure the door to c shaped clips on each side of the refrigerator liner. The clip on the left liner wall faces the back of the refrigerator, while the clip on the right liner wall faces the front. To remove the door, push back against the left top corner of the door, while pulling the right top corner of the door forward. Remove the chiller door. Pull the chiller drawer forward to the point of resistance, raise slightly and slide out. To Replace The Chiller Door: 1. Slot the node on the top left corner of the chiller door, left, into the clip on the cabinet lining. 2. Push the node on the top right corner of the chiller door, back into the clip on the cabinet lining. Page 9

The reversing of doors or replacement of light bulbs is not covered by warranty. Assistance, if required can be arranged by calling service ( ). Normal service call and labour charges apply. Illustrations for Model RJ182T Lamp Replacement Switch off and remove power cable from socket prior to changing the light bulb. Don't risk an electric shock. Instructions for Models RJ182T & RJ202T Apply pressure with your finger tip to the top centre of the light lens. This will release a catch on the back face of the lens that holds it to the light housing. Note: For safety reasons the lens is also held in position by a phillips-head screw. Remove the lens. Unscrew the light bulb in an anti-clockwise direction. Screw the new bulb in. Don t allow your fingers to touch the new bulb as the oils from your skin can cause hot spots on the globe, shortening its life. Clip the light lens on and ensure screw is in place. Illustrations for Model RJ202T Not all 15 watt screw-in lamps will fit the lamp housing. Appropriate replacement lamps can be purchased from Electrolux or by calling Page 10

Cleaning / Important Warnings Safety This product is not intended for young children and infirm persons unless adequately supervised by a responsible person. Please Follow These Tips Below DO Check the power point is properly grounded - if you are not sure, get an electrician to check it. Switch off the appliance at the power point before you clean or move it. If the supply cord is damaged you should have it replaced by the manufacturer, its service agent or similarly qualified person. This will prevent a safety hazard. DON'T Never let children play with the appliance. Never store spray cans, explosive liquids or flammable liquids in the refrigerator. Never store fizzy drinks in the freezer compartment. Never lick icy foods when they first come out of the freezer. This can burn your lips and mouth. Never try to repair the appliance yourself. Never use electric heaters or dryers to defrost a freezer because you could receive an electric shock. Never use electrical appliances inside the food storage areas. This appliance contains insulation formed with flammable blowing gases. For safety reasons, take care when you dispose of it. Do not damage the refrigeration circuit. WARNING! WHEN YOU DISPOSE OF YOUR OLD REFRIGERATOR / FREEZER, REMOVE ANY DOORS. CHILDREN CAN SUFFOCATE IF THEY GET TRAPPED INSIDE. Cleaning The Appliance Before Cleaning: REMOVE THE POWER CABLE FROM THE WALL SOCKET. THIS WILL ENSURE THERE IS NO R I S K O F G E T T I N G A N ELECTRIC SHOCK. External Cabinet It is a good idea to polish the cabinet at least once a year using a high grade wax like the one you use on your car. After that, an occasional wipe over with a clean, damp cloth will help remove finger marks. NOTE: Do not wax plastic parts or decorative trim. Wash these in warm (not hot) water using unscented detergent. Interior The interior of the refrigerator and freezer compartments should be regularly cleaned. It will be easiest to clean when the food supply is low. Wash the interior with a soft cloth and use an unscented mild detergent with luke warm water. Thoroughly dry all surfaces and removable parts. Avoid getting water on the controls. If you have taken out any removable parts, replace them and switch the power on before re-stocking the appliance with food. Keep The Door Seals Clean Take care to keep door seals clean. Sticky food and drink can cause seals to stick to the cabinet and tear when you open the door. Wash the seal with mild detergent and warm water. Rinse thoroughly and dry. WARNING! Never use hot water, solvents, commercial kitchen cleaners, aerosol cleaners, metal polishes, caustic or abrasive cleaners, or scourers to clean this appliance, as they will damage it. Many commercially available cleaning products and detergents contain solvents that will damage your appliance. When cleaning, use only a soft cloth with an unscented mild soap and luke warm water. Page 11

Reversing the Door Opening Direction In this example, the operation is reversed from right side hinging to left side hinging. Precautions: Fig. 1 shows right side hinging assembly. Turn off the appliance. Unplug the power cable. Remove all food from the appliance. Remove shelves and baskets. Do not lay the appliance down flat on its back or sides. This will impair its operation. When tilting the appliance to access the underside, support it so that it will not fall to the floor. NOTE: All parts removed must be retained to reinstall the door. Ensure all washers are reassembled in original order. Instructions: In the front of the panel on top of the freezer compartment there are 2 rectangular plugs. Use a flat blade screwdriver as a lever to remove them. Use a phillips head screwdriver to remove the screws that the plugs were concealing. There are 2 round holes to the back of the top panel. Remove the screws from these holes. The top panel can now be removed. Hold the freezer door in the closed position while removing the 3 screws that secure the top hinge. The freezer door can now be lifted off, along with the top hinge. Remove the top hinge pin from the hole in the top of the freezer door. Now unscrew the hinge pin from the hinge. Turn the hinge over and screw the pin in from the other side of the hinge. On the left of the top of the fig. 1 appliance, are 2 screws which need to be removed and re-inserted into the corresponding holes on the right of the top of the appliance. While supporting the refrigerator compartment door, remove the 2 screws securing the centre hinge to the cabinet. Remove the hinge, the plastic washer on the top pin, and the plastic gasket behind the hinge and carefully put the door aside. Page 12

Reversing the Door Opening Direction Fig. 2 shows a left side hinging assembly. Remove the plug (if supplied with your appliance) from the hole in the top left of the refrigerator door and press firmly into the hole on the top right of the door. Remove the cap, screw, and washer from the far left of the centre frame and re-insert in the far right of centre frame. Use a flat blade screwdriver to remove the 2 plastic screws from the left side of the centre cabinet. Re-insert them in the holes that the centre hinge was previously fitted on. If possible, get help to secure the fridge, as it will need to be tilted back in order to remove the two screws that secure the hinge to the bottom right side of the appliance. Unscrew the left front foot and transfer it to the corresponding hole under the right bottom corner. Unscrew the foot and remove it from the bottom hinge, then screw the foot in from the other side of the hinge. Unscrew the hinge pin from the bottom hinge, then secure it on to the reverse side of the bottom hinge. Make sure all washers are reinstalled in their original order. With the refrigerator door in the closed position, secure the bottom hinge, (previously removed from the other side) onto the bottom left corner, tightening the 2 screws firmly. With the bottom pin of the middle hinge lodged in the hole on the top left of the refrigerator compartment door, secure the reversed middle hinge and the reversed gasket to the left of mid fig. 2 cabinet using the 2 hinge screws Put the plastic washer on the middle hinge top pin, then mount the freezer door on the middle hinge top pin. With the reassembled top hinge pin located in the hole in the top inside left corner of the freezer door, fix the top hinge to the top left corner of the appliance using the 3 top hinge screws. Replace the top cover, using screws and. Replace the rectangular hole plugs. Page 13
