All persons who use and service the machine have to be acquainted with this manual and must be informed about its potential hazards. It is also imperative that you observe the accident prevention regulations in force in your area. The same applies for general rules of occupational health and safety.

CENTRAL SAFETY RULES Safety is a combination of common sense, staying alert and knowing how your dust collector works. WARNING: To avoid mistakes that could cause serious injury, do not plug the dust collector in until the following steps have been read and understood. 1. READ and become familiar with this entire instruction manual. Learn the machine s application, limitations and possible hazards. 2. AVOID DANGEROUS AONDITIONS. DO NOT use machine in wet or damp areas or expose

4 them to rain. Keep work area well lit. 3. DO NOT use machine in the presence of flammable liquids or garses. 4. KEEP BYSTANDERS AT A SAFE DISTANCE FROM the work area, especially when machine is operating. NEVER allow children near the machine. 5. DO NOT FORCE THE MACHINE to do a job for which it was not designed. 6. DRESS FOR SAFETY. DO NOT wear loose clothing, gloves, neckties, or jewelry(rings, watches) when operating tool. They can get caught and draw you into moving parts. ALWAYS wear nonslip footwear, and tie back long hair. 7. WEAR A FACE MASK OR DUST MASK. 8. ALWAYS remove the power cord plug from the electrical outlet when making adjustments, changing parts cleaning machine. 9. AWOID ACIDENTAL START-UPS. Make sure that the power switch is in the OFF position before plugging in the power cord. 10. NEVER LEAVE A MACHINE RUNNING UNATTACHED. Turn the power switch to OFF. DO NO T leave tool until it has come to a complete stop. 11. NEVER STAND ON A MACHIEN. Serious injury could result if the machine tips or is accidentally hit. 12. DON T OVERREACH. Keep proper footing and balance at all times. Wear oil-resistant rubbersoled footwear. Keep floor clear of oil, scrap and other debris. 13. MAINTIAN MACHINE PROPERLY. ALWAYS keep machine clean and in good working order. Follow instructions for lubricating and changing accessories. 14. CHECKDAMAGED PARTS. Check for alignment of moving parts, binding of moving parts, breakage of parts, improper mounting or any other conditions that may affect the machine s operation. Any part that is damaged should be properly repaired or replaced before use. 15. WARNING: Dust generated from certain materials can be hazardous to your health. SPECIFIC SAFETY RULES FOR DUST COLLECTION SYSYTEMS When using your Dust Collection System, follow basic safety precautions including the following: WARNIGN: TO REDUCE THRE RISK OF FIRE, ELECTRIC SHOCK, OR INJURY. READ AND UNDERSTAND THIS INSTRUCTION MANUAL AND ALL LABELS ON THE DUST COLLECTOR BEFORE OERATING. USE ONLY AS DESCRIBED IN THIS MANUAL. 1. THE FILTRATION HOUSING contains a high speed fan blade that can amputate fingers, grab loose clothing and neckties, and propel dust at high velocities. DO NOT OPERATE WITHOUT AL APRTS IN PLACE. 2. DO NOT attempt to clean, remove the dust bags, or service the unit when the power is ON. Turn the unit OFF and disconnect the cord from the power source. 3. STATIC SHOCKS ARE common in dry areas or when the relative humidity of the air is low. The use of a humidifier in the home will help raise the relative humidity, and may reduce static shocks. 4. SPARKS inside the electrical parts can ignite flammable vapors or dust. 5. DO NOT vacuum, or use the Dust Collector near flammable or combustible liquids, gases, gasoline or other fuels, lighter fluid, cleaners, oil-based paints, natural gas, hydrogen, or explosive dusts like coal dust, magnesium dust, grain dust, or gun powder. 6. TO AVOID HEALTH HAZARDS from vapors or dusts, do not vacuum toxic materials.

5 7. TO AVOID HTALTH HAZARDS from vapors or dusts, don t vacuum toxic materials. 8. DO NOT use or store near hazardous material. 9. DO NOT use outdoors or on wet surfaces. 10. PUT THE UNIT on a stable, level surface. 11. POSITION the vacuum hose and electric cord away form traffic areas. 12. DO NOT ALLOW THE UNIT OT BE USED AS A TOY. Close attention is necessary when used by or near children. 13. DO NOT LEAVE the Dust Collector plugged in. Unplug form the outlet when no tin use and before servicing. 14. TO AVOID INJURY from accidental starting, unplug the power cord before changing or cleaning the filter/dust bag or chip bag. 15. DO NOT use without the filter /dust bag and /or chip bag in place. 16. DO NOT unplug by pulling on the cord. To unplug, grasp the plug, not the cord. 17. TURN OFF THE CONTROLS before unplugging. 18. DO NOT use with a damaged cord, plug, or other parts. If your Dust Collection System is not working as it should, has missing parts, has been dropped, damaged, left outdoors, or dropped into water, return it to an authorized Service Center. 19. DO NOT pull or carry by cord, us the cord as a handle, close the door on the cord, or pull the cord. Keep the cord away from heated surfaces. 20. DO NOT handle the plug of the Dust Collector with wet hands. 21. DO NOT put any object not the ventilation openings. Do not vacuum with any ventilation opening blocked; keep free of dust, lint, hair or anything that may reduce air flow. 22. KEEP hair, loose clothing, fingers, and all parts of the body away form opening and moving parts. 23. EXTENSION CORDS in poor condition or that are too small can cause fire and shock hazards. When using and extension cord, be sure it is in good condition. 24. CONNECT to a properly grounded outlet only. 25. USE ONLY heavy duty plastic trash bags when replacing the chip bag. 26. CAUTION: If using this Dust Collector to help keep airborne wood dust in heavy usage within acceptable limits, you must regularly monitor air borne dust and maintain your Dust Collector t avoid exceeding dust limits. Each application is unique. Your maintenance schedule must, therefore, be tailored to your specific use of this Dust Collector. 27. SAFETY is a combination of common sense, staying alert, and knowing how your Dust Collector works. WARNING: OT AVOID MISTAKES THAT COULD RESULT IN SEROUS, PERMANENT INJURY, DO NOT CONNECT THE POWER CORD UNTIL THE FOLLOWING STEPS HAVE BEEN HAVE BEEN SATISTACTORILY COMPLETED.

Place the base right side up and install the collector support (Figure 3) using four M x15 hex bolts and four flat washers. Figure 3. Installing collector support. 4. Place the motor/impeller housing onto the collector support plate and fasten with four M x 15 hex bolts, four hex nuts, and eight flat washers as shown in Figure Make sure the dust collector motor is unplugged! 2. Install the swivel casters onto the base with sixteen M5-.8 x 10 Phillips head screws, nuts, and flat washers (see Figure 2). Figure 4. Installing motor/impeller housing on collector support. 7 5. Install the rubber gasket onto the motor/ impeller housing opening. 6. Install the collector onto the motor/impeller housing with six M6-1x15 hex bolts, as shown in Figure Install the upper bag support onto the collector, as shown in Figure 7, using two M4-.7 x 8 Phillips head screws. Secure the two collection bag support rods to the base plate with four M5-.8x15 Phillip head screws and four flat washers, and to the collector using two M5-.8 x 15 Phillip head screws, two flat washers, and two hex nuts as shown in Figure 6. Collector Support Bolts 1. Adjust the two hex bolts located on the collector support plate (Figure 8) so the bolt heads press against the motor/impeller housing. 2. 8 Collection and Filtration Bags 3. Bag clamp springs should be located between the belt and latch (Figure 10); if not, the bag clamp will not work. Adjust the springs if needed. Components and Hardware Needed: Qty Collection Bag...1 Filtration Bag...1 Bag Clamps...2 To install the collection bag: Springs Latch 1. Place the collection bag over the bottom edge of the collector and secure the bag clamp as shown in Figure 9. Belt Clamp Wide Foam Strip Cleated Tips of Belt Figure 10. Correct bag clamp spring position. To install the filtration bag: 1. Hook the top of the filtration bag onto the upper bag support rod, slip the filtration bag over the top of the collector, and secure the bag clamp. The dust collector should look similar to Figure 11 when fully assembled. Figure 9. Securing collection bag onto collector. 2. If belts are not already installed on the collection and filtration bags, thread the cleated end of each belt through the left hole and out the right hole of each bag. Make sure cleated tips face out. Figure 11. Filtration and collection bags installed.

9 Troubleshooting SYMPTOM POSSIBLE CAUSE CORRECTIVE ACTION Motor will not start, or it growls on start up. Motor runs slower than normal. Loud, repetitious noise, or excessive vibration coming from dust collector. Dust collector does not adequately collect dust or chips; poor performance. 1. Power supply fuse or circuit breaker has tripped. 2. Toggle switch is broken inside. 3. Start capacitor is at fault. 4. Motor fan cover is dented, stopping the fan from being able to spin. 5. Motor is at fault. 1. Poor electrical connection. 2. Low power source voltage. 3. Motor is at fault. 1. Dust collector is not on a flat surface and wobbles. 2. Impeller fan is damaged and unbalanced. 3. The motor mounting is loose. 4. Impeller is loose on the motor shaft. 5. Motor fan cover is dented, causing the motor fan to hit the cover while spinning. 1. Dust collection bag is full. 2. There is a restriction at the inlet grate. 3. The dust collector is too far away from the point of suction, or there are too many sharp bends in the ducting. 1. Disconnect power, and inspect circuit for electrical shorts and repair. Replace circuit breaker if it is old or has tripped many times. 2. Disconnect power, and use an ohmmeter to check switch terminals for continuity, and replace switch if required. 3. Replace start capacitor. 4. Replace motor fan cover (and fan, if damaged). 5. Replace motor. 1. Inspect the power supply for loose, corroded, or overheated electrical connections and repair. 2. Have the power source voltage checked; reduce the length of extension cord. 3. Replace the motor. 1. Stabilize the dust collector. 2. Unplug dust collector, and inspect the impeller for dents, bends, loose fins. Replace impeller if any damage is found. 3. Make sure all fasteners on the dust collector are tight. 4. Replace the motor and impeller as a set if the motor shaft and the impeller hub are damaged. 5. Replace motor fan cover. 1. Empty bags. 2. Remove dust line from dust collector inlet and clean debris from the inlet grate (and wire- connector, if installed). 3. Relocate the dust collector closer to the point of suction, and rework ducting without sharp bends. Refer to the Dust Collection Basics handbook 4. The lumber is wet and not flowing through the dust lines smoothly. 4. Process lumber with less than 20% moisture content.
