2 RECYCLING PAPER AND CARDBOARD PLASTIC BOTTLES, JUGS, TUBS Including: Paperback books, catalogs and magazines Non-foil wrapping paper Flatten all boxes (Do not tie up) Remove plastic liners from dry food boxes METAL ALUMINUM AND TIN CANS, SCRAP METAL AND CLEAN FOIL Empty of all food or liquid (No lids) GLASS JARS AND BOTTLES Including: Small non-working metal appliances, pots, tools (Limit 2 ft. x 2 ft. x 2 ft., 35 lbs.) Empty aerosol cans Place lids in can, crimp the can shut. No sharp or greasy metal. Ball clean foil together. Empty of all food or liquid (Labels OK) RECYCLING TIPS Empty and rinse out all food residue. Labels do not need to be removed. Empty recyclables out of bags and boxes into the cart so they can be easily sorted at the recycling center. IGNORE THE NUMBERS, RECYCLE PLASTICS BY SHAPE! 4 GARBAGE GUIDELINES PLEASE BAG ALL ITEMS COMPOSTABLES GUIDELINES NO PLASTIC NON-RECYCLABLE PAPER NON-RECYCLABLE PLASTIC FOOD SCRAPS NON-RECYCLABLE METAL UNCOATED PAPER PLANTS, FLOWERS & YARD DEBRIS NON-RECYCLABLE GLASS OTHER GARBAGE Visit cedar-grove.com for approved compostable products. TIP: Cut branches into 4 sections no wider than 4 in diameter. No candles, decorations, twine or wire. GARBAGE TIPS Please bag all garbage. Double bag pet waste, packing pellets, vacuum dust, sawdust and cold ashes. Please DO NOT put liquids, hazardous waste or recycling in garbage. Recycle Styrofoam blocks and packing peanuts at StyroRecycle, There is a charge for extra garbage. Each garbage unit set out for collection that does not fit in the container with the lid closed and is above the normal service level listed on your utility account will be subject to additional charges of $11.22 per bag/box/can. COMPOSTABLES TIPS 1. Collect food scraps and leftovers in a: Paper grocery bag Reusable plastic, metal, glass or ceramic container with lid Approved compostable bag 2. Empty your collection container into the compostables cart frequently. 3. Layer food scraps with yard waste, newspaper or shredded paper to absorb liquids. There is a charge for extra yard waste. Put extra yard waste in kraft paper bag, cardboard box, or 32-gallon can with handles and lid (65lb limit). Please label Yard. Do not put food or food-soiled paper in extra yard waste bags or cans. C 100% postconsumer recycled content
5 CONTAINER SET OUT GUIDELINES COMPOSTABLES SERVICE NUMBERS Contact the City of Auburn Utilities department to: Start new service for garbage, recycle or compostables. Change or cancel service. Billing questions or information. Call: Visit: Customer Service Center, 1 East Main Street, 2nd Floor SERVICE INFORMATION RECYCLING GARBAGE 2 feet 2 feet 3 feet Your garbage and compostables containers will be collected weekly. Recycling will be collected every other week on your garbage day. Container options include: Garbage 10, 20, 35, 64 and 96-gallon Recycling 35, 64 and 96-gallon Compostables 35, 64 and 96-gallon MISSING CONTAINERS Please report any damaged or missing containers immediately to the City of Auburn Utilities at A replacement container will be delivered in 3 5 business days, if possible. NO credit will be given for missed collection due to missing container. Place containers at the curb by 7AM. Place containers two (2) feet apart with lids opening toward the street. Place containers at least three (3) feet from obstructions such as cars, trees, fences, mailboxes. Place wheels as close to the curb as possible without blocking sidewalks, driveways or on-street parking. MISSED COLLECTIONS Call Waste Management directly within 24 hours of your collection day to schedule a courtesy pick up. Waste Management Hours: M-F, 7AM - 7PM Sat, 9AM - 1PM CITY OF AUBURN CODE MANDATORY GARBAGE COLLECTION Garbage collection is mandatory for properties billed by the City of Auburn. It is the responsibility of the homeowner or property manager to see that his/her tenants have adequate garbage service and containers. COLLECTION POLICY FOR INCLEMENT WEATHER Waste Management is committed to providing reliable collection for all customers. If severe weather conditions prevent the safe collection of garbage, recycling or compostables, please remove containers from the street at the end of the day. WINTER IS COMING! GUIDELINES FOR SETTING OUT EXTRA MATERIAL AFTER A WEATHER DELAY Garbage Place next to garbage container labeled Garbage in: Securely tied plastic bags 32-gal cans with handles & lid Recycling YARD WASTE Recycling Place next to recycling cart labeled Recycling in: Cardboard box 32-gal cans with handles & lid No recycling in plastic bags. HOUSEHOLD HAZARDOUS WASTE FREE! Drop-off your household hazardous waste to the Auburn Wastemobile on Saturdays or Sundays from 10AM 5PM. The Outlet Collection 1101 Outlet Collection Dr. SW Auburn, WA (on the outside next to Nordstrom Rack) For accepted items and questions about disposing of unusual waste, contact the Household Hazards Line at or haz.waste@kingcounty.gov. GARBAGE: up to twice the regular amount of garbage will be collected on your next regularly scheduled collection day the following week for no additional charge. RECYCLING: the next collection for recycling is on your regular collection day in two weeks. There is no charge for extra recyclables that don t fit in your cart. COMPOSTABLES: up to twice the regular amount of yard debris will be collected on your next regularly scheduled collection day the following week for no additional charge. Billing credits are not issued due to weatherdelayed service.
