4 SOFTNESS EVALUATION TEST The evaluation is based on a panel test involving 50 subjects that judged the softness of towels, cotton-cloths and mixed cotton-synthetic (50/50) cloths after normal washing and softening treatment. Rinse treatments with and were made equally on the three types of material at 1, 5 & 10 cycles. 8 SOFTNESS EVALUATION Fig.1,2 & 3 show a deterioration in performance upon increasing the concentration of (from 6% to 9%). Similar attitude is observed when the concentration of is increased (from 2% to 3%). The softening performance on cotton and mixed cotton/polyester 50/50 is markedly better with at a concentration of 2% with respect to at 6% concentration.
