3 Hot plates Semiconductor equipment Ceramic hotplates made of silicon nitride and aluminum nitride are manufactured in various shapes and forms. The specific characteristics of the ceramic create high heat ramps, a homogeneous temperature distribution and excellent control accuracy. A cooling function can be directly integrated into the heater plate for active cooling with pressured air or other cooling media. Larger heated areas are assembled from smaller heater segments. 5 Preheaters for process gases Semiconductor equipment The chemical resistance of the ceramic heating elements ensures the heating of corrosive gases, aggressive liquids and other material in the temperature range of up to 1,000 C in high vacuum as well as in air. Thanks to the high power and excellent control accuracy, processes with a high heat consumption can be run in a short time. Stick heater (length: 150 cm) Application oriented design The dimensions as well as the electrical parameters are adapted to the requirements of the application. Ceramic heating elements either can be assembled inside a tube as stick-shaped heaters or they can be arranged as flat heaters around containers and specimens for heating from the outside. For vacuum applications the heaters are thermally insulated by radiation sheets, in air they are insulated by heat insulation. 6 Radiant heaters Semiconductor equipment Selection of possible shapes Dimension: 260 x 84 mm Area radiant heaters and distinctively shaped radiators for the temperature range up to 1,000 C. Thanks to the high emission value of e > 0.95 and the wide maximum of the emission spectrum, the dark grey silicon nitride ceramic is an ideal radiant heater. The radiation power tops 15 W/cm 2 at 1,000 C. 15 mm Application oriented design 57 mm Spot radiators with a glowing tip of 15mm are used at up to 1,200 C, area heaters at temperatures up to 1,000 C. Larger heated areas are composed of smaller segments. For a homogeneous temperature distribution or required gradients, the power input will be adapted to the heat dissipation. 7 Glow igniters Glow igniters made of ceramics ensure safe and fast ignition of solid, liquid and gaseous fuels. Emissions are reduced and the ignition process runs automatically. Long lifetime ensures comfortable heating. 9 Heated rails and contour heaters Heated appliances for the machine building industry Heated rails and custom-made contour heaters for line- and point shaped heating of material in processing machines offer advantages thanks to fast heat transfer by radiation or direct contact. In comparison to the use of metal pieces, ceramic heating elements directly transfer heat to the heated surface. Heated rail (lenght: 300 mm) with integrated thermo sensor (Pt100) and holder for assembly in the machine heat transfer by direct contact Heating comb (length: 150 mm) welding of plastic parts heat transmission by direct contact The low mass and excellent heat conductivity of the ceramic heating elements ensure a fast reaction to changes in the heat extraction. They follow the controller idle-free, do not heat over the target temperature and remain in a tightly controlled temperature range at changing heat dissipation. High power for fast heat ramps can be installed. These advantages in comparison to conventional heating systems make higher cycle times and higher speed in processing machines possible. Heating element with plug which can be arranged in a plug appliance as even or spatial contour dimension: 10 x 4 mm max. temperature: 500 C Application oriented design The heating elements are adapted to the contour to be heated by assembling them to heat insulating material. Power leads are brazed to the ceramic and passed out of the system, a thermo sensor is integrated into the heating element in direct proximity to the heated surface. Ground surfaces ensure an excellent heat transfer by direct contact with the application. Non-linear area and spatial heaters are assembled by single plug heaters which are switched externally either in series or in parallel. Thus, temperature profiles over the heated contour as well as easy replacements are feasible. 11 Cartridge heaters Heated appliances for the machine building industry Cartridge heaters made of high performance ceramics have the edge on conventional cartridge heaters where tools with fast cycle times and fastly changing heat dissipation are heated. High heat conductivity and low mass of the heater body cause excellent temperature control behavior. 13 Press heaters Heated appliances for the machine building industry Ceramic hotplates for direct heating of material specimens with pressure of up to 2,000 MPa in the temperature range of up to 1,000 C. Dimension heated area: 100 x 100 mm Advantages The high pressure resistance of 2,000 MPa and the high Young s Modulus of 200 GPa of the silicon nitride ceramic remain stable nearly without elastic deformation within a wide temperature range up to 1,000 C. Ceramic hotplates transfer pressure in direct contact with the material. Heated press plates for material testing heated area up to 1,000 C ceramic brackets for connections resilient up to 550 C High ramp rates of up to 50 K/s can be achieved. Low thermal mass and good heat conductivity ensure a fast reaction to heat dissipation. In comparison to indirectly heated pressing tools the low heat capacity allows high cooling rates. Customer oriented design The construction of press heaters is made according to the requirements of the application. Low distances for heat transfer as well as surfaces with a homogeneous temperature distribution can thus be obtained. We use our experiences for the design of the assembly to avoid bending tensions, notch impact and large temperature gradients as well as to obtain optimal thermal conditions.
