2 Introduction. The Aim of this manual to provide information to the property owner or occupant of the land on which an Evapocycle System has been constructed to insure that the is correctly operated and maintained. Evapocycle General Description. The Evapocycle is an on-site domestic wastewater treatment and disposal that has been designed and developed for use on sites that have limitations that prevent the use of conventional ground absorption trenches. Risk Assessment and Maintenance Check List. The attached Risk Assessment and Maintenance Check List should be reviewed from time to time to insure that the Evapocycle as designed and constructed is correctly maintained. Important Records The following documents will be supplied on completion of the Evapocycle Construction and should be kept with this manual for future reference as required. 1. Conditions of EVAPOCYCLE Approval 2. Authority Approval. This document will indicate the Evapocycle design capacity and show the location of both the primary (constructed) and secondary (reserve) locations for the Evapocycle. 3 4. Maintenance Record. The attached Table shows the Maintenance record. Commissioning Each Evapocycle must be monitored at not less than weekly intervals to ensure the is operating correctly. Rainwater or Storm Water. No rainwater or storm water must be allowed to enter the. The additional volumes or rainwater or storm water will cause the Field Septic Disposal System (FSDS) and Evapocycle to fail. A separate rainwater and storm water disposal plan must be approved by the FSDS and Evapocycle designer. Vehicle Traffic All FSDS and Evapocycle components, including distribution lines must be protected from vehicles. Maintenance- FSDS Chambers. The FSDS (primary treatment) to which the Evapocycle is connected must be maintained (pumped out) in accordance with the manufactures approved recommendations. Each FSDS has been designed to be desludged (pumped out) every three to five years or when scum and sludge occupy 2/3 of the volume of the FSDS. Kitchen Grease Traps and food scrap baskets be regularly cleaned and correctly maintained to ensure continued effective operation. It is important that only approved Pump out contractors with appropriately trained field staff only be used to undertake these maintenance tasks. Full records are to be kept of desludging and pump out operations and that notification is provided, of unusual circumstances and any defects with either the septic tank or FSDS chambers that are discovered

4 during servicing, to the owner or responsible occupier and the council. All record sheets are to be retained for at least 10 years from their dates of issue. All septage material taken from the site during desludging/pump out operations is to be disposed of or utilised by an approved facility or agency. Measures are to be put in place during desludging/pump out that will prevent damage to the Septic Tank Environmental Protection (STEP) or the FSDS plastic liners and protect the environment. Maintenance Pump, Distribution lines and Switching Devices. All maintenance work associated with the pump, distribution lines and switching devices to be undertaken by an IES approved licensed electrician or registered plumber in accordance with the manufactures recommendations. All electrical work must be in accordance with the relevant provisions of the approved Standards. All plumbing work must satisfy the requirements of the approved codes and approving authority regulations. Maintenance-Greywater Surface Irrigation Areas. All greywater surface irrigation areas should be inspected by the owner/operator on a regular basis to ensure that the drippers are operating correctly. ADVICE TO THE OWNER/OPERATOR ON THE USE OF THE EVAPOCYCLE WASTEWATER MANAGEMENT SYSTEM. For the Evapocycle wastewater management to work well, there are some good habits to encourage and some bad habits to avoid: 1.
