31 Priority Mode Free Multi selects heating or cooling on First Call basis like all similar products. The mode can only be changed when all areas are satisfied or the system reset. Priority mode is an option on PBE models CU-3E18 to CU-5E34 When set (switch on outdoor unit) the largest indoor unit becomes the priority unit and sets the mode for the rest of the system. This prevents a small space hijacking the entire system. PRIORITY

78 What is AQUAREA? Aquarea is a full range of air to water heat pumps to provide hot water for either heating or domestic hot water. Proven and tested in Europe this range offers very high efficiency and low running costs combined with the legendary Panasonic record for reliability and quality. We have both split and Monobloc formats for maximum flexibility and a range of water tanks to go with them. Aquarea is designed to be competitive but with higher efficiency levels than leading competitors to maximise energy savings. As an added bonus Aquarea can be installed in areas where a gas supply is not available. All in all it is a very credible competitor to conventional gas or oil fired boilers.

79 Uses for Aquarea Aquarea produces hot water at up to 55C. This is ideal for fan coils, low temperature radiators and under floor heating. Aquarea can also be used with a hot water tank with a 3KW boost heater to produce domestic hot water at up to 75C. It is easy to use as in combination with a conventional boiler and also with solar panels. While 55C is a lower temperature than conventional radiators are designed for it should be borne in mind that a modern high efficiency condensing gas boiler also uses lower temperature water than an old fashioned non condensing system in order to work correctly. In a retrofit installation this usually means fitting a condensing boiler will require new radiators as well to run efficiently. The system above uses a combination of Aquarea with a gas boiler and solar panels for maximum effiiciency. Heating is carried out by a combination of low surface temperature radiators, under floor heating and fan coils. Domestic hot water is also produced by this system. Some Aquarea models can produce chilled water for cooling as well. An ideal use for this would be to use fan coils upstairs with under floor heating downstairs.

80 HT Aquarea HT Aquarea produces hot water at up to 65C. This is ideal for replacing a condensing boiler. Heat pumps work best with lower water temperatures but HT gives the option of doing a retrofit in two stages. Stage 1 is to continue to use the existing radiators. This minimises disruption and initial cost while giving the advantage of having a heat pump. STAGE 1 Standard radiators with water up to 65C. COP of 2.78 Stage 2 could be done at some stage in the future and would involve changing the radiators for new low temperature radiators and dropping the water flow temperature to suit. STAGE 2 Low temp radiators with water up to 45C. COP of 4.40 In the example shown on the right the COP shown is for a 12KW HT model at 7C outdoor temperature with water at 55C for stage 1 and 35C for stage 2.
