Read and grasp all the information in these instructions before the appliance is installed. 2 Installing the appliance Risk of fire due to short circuit! If the mains cable/connector of the appliance or of another appliance touch the rear of the appliance, the mains cable/ connector may be damaged by the appliance vibrations, leading to a short circuit. u Stand the appliance so that it is not touched by connectors or main cables. u Do not plug the appliance or any others into sockets located near the rear of the appliance. Fire hazard due to dampness! If live parts or the mains lead become damp this may cause short circuits. u The appliance is designed for use in enclosed areas. Do not operate the appliance outdoors or in areas where it is exposed to splash water or damp conditions. u Only use the appliance when it is installed. Fire hazard due to refrigerant! The refrigerant R 600a is environmentally friendly but flammable. Escaping refrigerant may ignite. u Do not damage the piping of the refrigeration circuit. Fire hazard and danger of damage! u Do not place appliances emitting heat e.g. microwaves, toasters etc. on the appliance! Note* The bags at the rear of the appliance are important for proper operation. Their contents are nontoxic and nonhazardous. u Do not remove the bags! NOTICE* Risk of damage due to condensate! If your appliance is not a Side-by-Side (SBS) appliance: u do not install the appliance directly alongside a further refrigerator/freezer. q In the event that the appliance is damaged, contact the supplier immediately before connecting to the mains. q The floor at the site must be flat and level. q Do not install the appliance in a location where it is exposed to direct radiation of the sun, next to a cooker, heater and similar. q Do not install the appliance without assistance. q Standard EN 378 specifies that the room in which you install your appliance must have a volume of 1 m 2 per 8 g of R 600a refrigerant used in the appliance. If the room in which the appliance is installed is too small, a flammable gas-air mixture may form in the event of a leakage in the refrigeration circuit. The quantity of refrigerant used in your appliance is indicated on the type plate on the inside of the appliance. q Fit the appliance in stable kitchen units only. q The following ventilation gaps must be observed: The depth of the ventilation channel at the rear of the unit must be at least 38 mm. There must be a ventilation space of at least 200 cm 2 in the plinth and at the top of the unit. 2

3 Changing over door hinges Basically the principle applies: the larger the ventilation space, the more energy-saving the appliance is in operation. u Detach the connecting cable from the rear of the appliance, removing the cable holder at the same time because otherwise there will be vibratory noise! After installation: u Remove the protective film from the decorative trims and drawer fronts.* u Remove all transit supports. u Unscrew the red transport lock. Close the vacated retaining hole using the stopper (60). For appliances of 872 mm and 1022 mm height: u remove lower door rack. u Push tension spring Fig. 1 (11) outwards, using a screwdriver.* u Lower soft stop mechanism Fig. 1 (2) for removal. u Unscrew holder Fig. 1 (1). u Unscrew the ball stud Fig. 1 (3) (Torx 25). 3.2 Demount door u Dispose of packaging material. Note u Clean the appliance. If the appliance is installed in a very damp environment, condensate may form on the outside of the appliance. u Always see to good ventilation at the installation site. u Lift off covers Fig. 2 (4). u Only slacken fastening screws Fig. 2 (5). u Remove door: push outwards, unhinge and set aside. Fig Change freezer compartment door* 3 Changing over door hinges NOTICE* Risk of damage to side-by-side appliances due to condensation! When a side-by-side appliance (S ) is fitted together with a second appliance (as a SBS combination), the door hinges must remain as delivered. u Do not change over the door hinges. Ensure that the following tools are to hand: q Crosstip screwdriver q Flat-blade screwdriver q Cordless screwdriver Torx 15 Cordless screwdriver Torx 20 Cordless screwdriver Torx 25 Slide the appliance 2/3 of the way into the recess. Pull out the power plug. Open the door. 3.1 Detach the soft stop mechanism* Fig. 3 u Fold away cover of turn hinge Fig. 3 (6). u Unscrew turn hinge Fig. 3 (6) together with compartment door. u Unscrew closing element Fig. 3 (7). u Close the vacated holes with the accompanying stoppers Fig. 3 (8). u Fit closing element Fig. 4 (7). u Fit compartment door at the top. u Fit turn hinge Fig. 4 (6) and fold the cover. 3.4 Changing bearing parts Fig. 4 CAUTION Risk of injury if hinges fold! u Leave hinges open. Fig. 1 CAUTION Risk of injury if soft stop contracts! u Detach with care. 3

4 Water connection u Transfer top and bottom fastening screws Fig. 2 (5) to the opposite side. Screws are self-tapping. Use cordless screwdriver: u Unscrew Fig. 5 (9) the hinges from the door, transfer them and screw them on tightly (4 Nm). u Close vacated fastening holes with stoppers Fig. 5 (10). 4 Water connection* Danger of electric shock! u Disconnect the appliance by unplugging it before you connect it to the water line. u Shut off the water supply before you connect the water feed lines of the IceMaker. u The connection to the drinking water system may be carried out only by a qualified gas fitter and plumber. Risk of poisoning! u The water quality has to comply with the drinking water ordinance of the respective country (e.g. 98/8 u The IceMaker serves exclusively for making ice cubes in household quantities and has to be operated with water suitable for the purpose. 3.5 Re-fit door Fig. 5 u Attach appliance door to the prefitted fastening screws Fig. 2 (5). u Screw in mounting screws Fig. 2 (5)tightly (4 Nm). u Re-fit covers Fig. 2 (4). 3.6 Re-fit soft stop mechanism* - The water pressure has to be between 0.15 MPa and 0.6 MPa (1.5 bar - 6 bar). - The water supply to the appliance must be via a cold water pipe which withstands the operating pressure and complies with the hygiene regulations. Use the accompanying stainless steel hose (1.5 m). Do not reuse old hoses. A 3 m hose is available from the customer service department and has to be fitted by an expert. In the hose connecting piece is a sieve with seal. - Between the hose and the domestic water connection there has to be a stopcock to interrupt the water supply in case of need. - All the fixtures and fittings used for water supply have to comply with the applicable regulations of the respective country. - Do not damage or kink the water inlet pipe when installing the appliance. Fig. 6 u Screw the ball stud Fig. 6 (3) firmly into the new fastening hole (with 4 Nm) (Torx 25). u Push tension spring Fig. 6 (11) inwards again.* u Screw on the bracket Fig. 6 (1) tightly (3 Nm). u Attach soft stop mechanism Fig. 6 (2) to ball stud. Risk of injury due to the door dropping out! If the fastening parts are not screwed into place firmly enough, the door may drop out. This may lead to severe injuries. What is more, the door may not close and therefore the appliance may fail to cool properly. u Screw the hinges and the ball journal of the soft stop mechanism firmly into place, with 4 Nm. u Screw the holder of the soft stop mechanism firmly into place, with at least 3 Nm. u Check all of the screws and retighten if necessary. Fig. 7 u Connect the angled part of the enclosed stainless steel hose to the shut-off valve. The solenoid valve is at the bottom back of the appliance. It has a metric R3/4 connecting thread. u Connect the straight part of the stainless steel hose to the solenoid valve. u Open the stopcock of the water supply and check that the entire water system is leakproof. Before initial use: u Have the water pipe bled of air by the proper expert. 4

5 Installation NOTICE Malfunction of the water intake! If the water intake is shut off during operation but the IceMaker remains in operation, the water intake pipe may ice up. u Switch off the IceMaker if the water supply is interrupted (e.g. holiday). 5 Installation All the mounting components accompany the appliance. Check installation dimensions: A Max. weight of unit door 23 kg 712 mm 714 mm mm 872 mm 874 mm mm 1022 mm 1024 mm mm 1218 mm 1220 mm mm 1395 mm 1397 mm mm 1770 mm 1772 mm mm B Fig. 8 Make sure the following tools are on hand: q Cordless screwdriver Torx 15, 20, 25 q Allen key 13 q Screwdriver The intermediate base and side wall of the kitchen unit have to be at right angles to one another. Align the kitchen unit using a spirit level and angle. If necessary, use shims. In the case of side-by-side installation, two appliances next to one another, build the appliances into separate kitchen units. Fig. 9 Note u Before assembling the door of the unit, make sure that the admissible weight of the unit door is not exceeded. u Otherwise damage to the hinges and resultant malfunction cannot be ruled out. 6 Installation 5.1 Installing the appliance Fig. 10 u Detach the connecting cable from the rear of the appliance. Remove the cable holder otherwise there will be vibratory noise. u Lay the connecting cable with the help of string in such a way that the appliance can be easily connected following installation. Fig. 11 For appliances with permanently plumbed in IceMaker: u Connect the IceMaker (see 4).* All appliances: u Slide the appliance 3/4 of the way into the recess. u Remove the covers Fig. 10 (4,6,7). u Fit the equaliser trim Fig. 12 (11) concentrically onto the appliance: Slide it into the recess and engage it in the keyholes. u Screw all the mounting brackets Fig. 13 (12) to the pre-drilled holes in the appliance door using hexagon screws Fig. 13 (13). For 16 mm-thick unit walls: u Clip spacer Fig. 14 (14) and spacer Fig. 10 (15) onto the hinges. Fig. 12 Fig. 13 Fig. 14 u Attach the top cover Fig. 15 (16) and the bottom cover Fig. 15 (17) to the mounting brackets. u Fasten the top mounting bracket Fig. 15 (17) with screws Fig. 15 (19) and the bottom one with screws Fig. 10 (19) so that the brackets can still be moved a little to the left and right. Fig. 15 u Strip the protective film off the cover trim Fig. 16 (20). u Apply the cover trim Fig. 16 (20) to the projection of the cover Fig. 15 (16) on the handle side, flush with the front, and adhesively affix it to the side wall of the appliance. u If necessary, shorten the cover strip Fig. 16 Fig. 16 (20) at the bottom: The cover strip Fig. 16 (20) has to end 3 mm above the upper edge of the lower mounting bracket Fig. 10 (17). Slide in and align the appliance: u Slide in the appliance until the covers Fig. 15 (16)abut Fig. 15 against the side wall of the kitchen unit. For 16 mm-thick unit walls: u Allow the spacers to abut against the side wall of the kitchen unit. For 19 mm-thick unit walls: u Align the front edges of the hinges so as to be flush with the side wall of the kitchen unit. Fig. 17 Fig. 18 For kitchen units (16 mm and 19 mm) with door stop components (knobs, sealing lips etc.): u Allow for the extra distance (depth of the door stop components): Allow hinges and covers Fig. 15 (16) to protrude by the extra distance. All appliances: u Vertically align the appliance by means of the height-adjustable feet, using the accompanying open-ended spanner Fig. 10 (21). w The appliance is now correctly positioned in depth. The distance from the front edge of the side wall of the unit to the appliance body is 42 mm all the way round (allow for door stop components, such as knobs and sealing lips.) Note Incorrect installation will lead to malfunction! If the distance is not kept, the door may not close. This may lead to icing, to condensate forming and to malfunction. u Be sure to keep to the clearance of 42 mm all the way round. (Allow for door stop components, such as knobs and sealing lips.) Tightly screw the appliance into place in the recess: 6

7 Installation u By screwing long Spax screws Fig. 19 (22) through the top and bottom hinge plates. Fig. 19 On the handle side at the top: u Loosen the screws Fig. 20 (19) a little. u Tightly screw the top mounting bracket Fig. 20 (17) to the unit wall using Spax screw Fig. 20 (25) ø4x19. u Break off the projecting end of the cover Fig. 20 (16). Fig. 20 u Tighten the screws Fig. 20 (19). u Put on the cover Fig. 20 (16). On the handle side at the bottom: u Loosen the screws Fig. 21 (19) a little. u Tightly screw the bottom mounting bracket Fig. 21 (17) to the unit wall using Spax screw Fig. 21 (25) ø4x19. u Break off the projecting end of the cover Fig. 21 (16). It is no longer required. u Tighten the screws Fig. 21 (19). Fig. 21 u Put the cover Fig. 21 (23) on the bottom mounting bracket Fig. 21 (17). u Close the appliance door. 5.2 Fitting the unit door u Attach the crosspiece Fig. 23 (31) together with the assembly aids Fig. 23 (30) to the inside of the unit door. u Concentrically align the crosspiece Fig. 23 (31): Mark a short centre line on the unit door and put the tip of the arrow on the crosspiece over it. Fig. 23 w Distances to the outer edge are equal at the left and right. For particle board doors: u Tightly screw the crosspiece Fig. 23 (31) into place using at least 6 screws Fig. 23 (34). For frame and panel doors: u Tightly screw the crosspiece Fig. 23 (31) into place using 4 screws Fig. 23 (34) at the edge. u Raise and remove the assembly aids Fig. 23 (30), turn them and slide them into the adjacent openings. Fig. 24 u Attach the unit door to the adjusting bolts Fig. 24 (33) and loosely screw the locknuts Fig. 24 (32) onto the adjusting bolts. u Close the door. u Check the gap between the door and the surrounding unit doors. u To laterally align the unit door: Move the unit door in the X direction. u To align the unit door in height Y and in lateral inclination: Adjust the adjusting bolts Fig. 24 (33) using a screwdriver. w The unit door is flush and in alignment with the surrounding unit fronts. u Tighten the lock nuts Fig. 24 (32). Fig. 22 u Check 8 mm-presetting. (Distance between appliance door and lower edge of crosspiece) u Slide up the assembly aids Fig. 22 (30) to the height of the unit door. Lower stop edge of the assembly aid = upper edge of the unit door to be fitted. u Unscrew the crosspiece Fig. 22 (31) by undoing the locknuts Fig. 22 (32). Fig. 25 Ensure that both metal edges are flush (symbol //): u Drill pilot holes in the door of the unit (possibly make preliminary hole with a bradawl). u Screw the appliance door to the unit door with screws Fig. 25 (34) passed through the mounting brackets Fig. 25 (12). 7

8 Connecting the appliance The door stop cushioning can be adjusted if necessary using the accompanying Allen key 5:* u For stronger spring force: turn clockwise.* u For lesser spring force (asdelivered): turn anticlockwise.* Fig. 26 u To align the unit door in depth: Undo top screws Fig. 26 (35), bottom hexagon screws Fig. 26 (13), then move the door. u Do not allow the knobs and sealing lips to abut - vital for proper function! u Allow an air gap of 2 mm between the unit door and the body of the unit. For large or sectioned unit doors: u fit a 2nd pair of mounting brackets Fig. 13 (12). u Use the holes pre-drilled in the handle area of the appliance door for this purpose. Check the following points to ensure the appliance is fitted properly. Failure to do so may lead to icing, condensate forming and malfunction: w The door has to close properly w The unit door must not butt against the unit body w The seal must have a firm fit at the upper corner on the handle side. To check, darken the room, place a torch inside the appliance at the top and close the door. If light shines through, check the assembly. 6 Connecting the appliance * NOTICE Risk of damage to the electronic control system! u Do not use stand-alone inverters (conversion of d.c. to a.c./ three-phase) or energy saving plugs. Fire and overheating hazard! u Do not use extension cables or multiple socket outlets. Fig. 27 u Check the fit of the door and adjust if necessary. u Tighten all screws. u Tighten the locknuts Fig. 27 (32) using the ring spanner Fig. 27 (38), while holding fast the adjusting bolts Fig. 27 (33) with a screwdriver. u Attach top cover Fig. 28 (39) and snap into place. u Attach side cover Fig. 28 (40), push it to the limit and then press until it audibly snaps into place. u Attach covers Fig. 28 (41) sideways, then draw them forwards with a screwdriver so that they snap into place well. The type of current (alternating current) and voltage at the installation site have to conform with the data on the type plate (see Appliance at a glance). The socket must be properly earthed and fused. The tripping current for the fuse must be between 10 A and 16 A. It must be easily accessible so that the appliance can be quickly disconnected from the supply in an emergency. It must be outside the area of the rear of the appliance. u Check the electrical connection. u Plug in the power plug. Fig. 28 u Put on and engage the covers Fig. 10 (4,6,7).
