Just a little preventive care on your part can save you a great deal of time and money over the life of your air conditioner. You'll find many answers to common problems in the chart of troubleshooting tips. If you review the chart of Troubleshooting Tips first, you may not need to call for service at all. CAUTIN Contact the authorised service technician for repair or maintenance of this unit. Contact the installer for installation of this unit. The air conditioner is not intended for use by young children or infirmed persons without supervision. Young children should be supervised to ensure that they do not play with the air conditioner. If the power cord is to be replaced, replacement work shall be performed by authorised personnel only. Installation work must be performed in accordance with the national wiring standards by authorised personnel only (If applicable). Take care not to catch fingers on fan and/or when adjusting horizontal louvres. This air conditioner uses R410A refrigerant. IMPRTANT NTES: 1. Do not operate unit without the air filter. 2. Do not operate unit near any heat source or open fire. 3. Do not expose the unit to direct sunlight. 4. Always store or move the unit in an upright position. 5. Do not cover the appliance when in operation or immediately after use. 6. Always ensure that when the water pump drain hose is fitted that the hose is run to an effective drain point. 7. Always drain condensate before storing unit. 8. Portable air conditioner must be returned to an Authorised Service Centre for service. 1

3 Safety Precautions To prevent injury to the user or other people and property damage, the following instructions must be followed. Incorrect operation due to ignoring of instructions may cause harm or damage. The seriousness is classified by the following indications. WARNING This symbol indicates the possibility of death or serious injury. CAUTIN This symbol indicates the possibility of injury or damage to property. Meanings of symbols used in this manual are as shown below. Never do this. Always do this. Plug in power plug properly. therwise, it may cause electric shock or fire due to excess heat generation. Do not modify power cord length or share the outlet with other appliances. It may cause electric shock or fire due to heat generation. Always ensure effective earthing. It may cause fire and electric shock. Do not use the power cord close to heating appliances. It may cause fire and electric shock. Do not damage or use an unspecified power cord. It may cause electric shock or fire. If the power cord is damaged, it must be replaced by the manufacturer or an authorised service centre or a similarly qualified person in order to avoid a hazard. Do not direct airflow at room occupants only. This could damage your health. Always install circuit breaker and a dedicated power circuit. Incorrect installation may cause fire and electric shock. Do not open the unit during operation. It may cause electric shock. Do not use the power cord near flammable gas or combustibles, such as gasoline, benzene, thinner, etc. It may cause an explosion or fire. Ventilate room before operating air conditioner if there is a gas leakage from another appliance. It may cause explosion, fire and burns. Do not disassemble or modify unit. It may cause failure and electric shock. 2

4 CAUTIN When the air filter is to be removed, do not touch the metal parts of the unit. Do not clean the air conditioner with water. Ventilate the room well when used together with a stove, etc. It may cause an injury. Water may enter the unit and degrade the insulation. It may cause an electric shock. An oxygen shortage may occur. When the unit is to be cleaned, switch off, and turn off the circuit breaker. Do not put a pet or house plant where it will be exposed to direct air flow. Do not use for special purposes. Do not clean unit when power is on as it may cause fire and electric shock, it may cause an injury. This could injure the pet or plant. Do not use this air conditioner to preserve precision devices, food, pets, plants, and art objects. It may cause deterioration of quality, etc. Stop operation and close the window in storm or hurricane. Hold the plug by the head of the power plug when taking it out. 5 Safety Precautions Prior to peration Preparing for operation 1. Plug in the power plug properly. 2. Do not use a damaged or non-standard power cord. 3. Do not share the same outlet with other appliances. 4. Do not use an extension cord. 5. Do not start/stop operation by plugging/unplugging the power cord. Usage 1. Exposure to direct airflow for an extended period of time could be hazardous to your health. Do not expose occupants, pets, or plants to direct airflow for extended periods of time. 2. Due to the possibility of oxygen deficiency, ventilate the room when used together with stoves or other heating devices. 3. Do not use this air conditioner for non-specified special purposes (e.g. Preserving precision devices, food, pets, plants, and art objects). Usage in such a manner could harm such property. Cleaning and maintenance 1. Do not touch the metal parts of the unit when removing the filter. Injuries can occur when handling sharp metal edges. 2. Do not use water to clean inside the air conditioner. Exposure to water can destroy the insulation, leading to possible electric shock. 3. Power cord conductors are distinguished according to color as follows (see Fig.2). 2. For your safety and protection, this unit is earthed through the power cord (see Fig.3). Please contact the manufacturer or its service agent or a similar qualified person if you want to replace it. 3. Make sure that the unit is correctly earthed. The wall outlet should be provided with reliable earth wire. 4. The unit should be provided with an individual circuit and the circuit breaker/fuse rating should be the same as that of the power cord and wall outlet. SET Button : o o : Used to adjust (Up) temperature settings (1 C/2 F increments). o o : Used to adjust (Down) temperature settings (1 C/2 F increments). 4 MDE Button: Selects the appropriate operating mode: CL -- DRY -- FAN -- HEAT Note: "Heat" is not applicable for cooling only models. 8 6 PWER Button: Power switch n/ff. 7 Water TANK FULL Indicator: Flashes red when the water level of the water tank exceeds the maximum set level or if the water tank is not correctly positioned in the cabinet. 8 Digital Display: Shows the setting temperature and Auto-n/ff time. While the unit is selected with DRY or FAN mode, it shows the room temperature. Note: This appliance provides a feature that allows you to change the temperature display between "Celsius" and "Fahrenheit". To change the temperature display on the main unit, press the " " key pad & " " key pad " o o simultaneously to alternate between the C & F scale. Celsius scale allows o o adjustments in 1 C increments while Fahrenheit scale allows adjustment in 2 F increments. Temperature Conversion Chart C F perating Instructions For The Air Conditioner Before Starting The Unit 1) Select a suitable location, make sure you have easy access to an electrical outlet. 2) Install the Flexible Exhaust Hose and the Adjustable Window Slider Kit as depicted in Fig.5 & Fig.5a. Fig.5 Fig.5a NTE: Step 2 is required only while using the " cooling mode ". 3) Plug the unit into a V~, 50Hz earth grounded electrical outlet. D NT USE AN EXTENSIN CRD. If it is necessary to use an extension cord with this unit, use an approved air conditioner extension cord only. 4) Insert the power cord fixing strap into the hole in the back of the unit, and bundle up the excess cord. 5) Make sure the water tank is correctly positioned inside the cabinet otherwise the unit will not operate. 6) Press the " PWER" button to turn on the unit. 7

9 Electrical Requirements 1. All wiring must comply with local service rules and national standards and be performed by authorised personnel only. If you have any questions regarding the following instructions, contact an authorised service provider. 2. Check available power supply and resolve any wiring problems BEFRE installing and operating this unit. 3. For your safety and protection, this unit is earthed through the power cord plug when plugged into a matching wall outlet. If you are not sure whether your wall outlets are properly earthed, please contact an authorised service provider. 4. The manufacturers nameplate is located on the right side panel of the unit and contains electrical and other technical data specific to this unit. 5. To avoid the possibility of personal injury, always switch off and disconnect the power supply to the unit before installing, re-installing and/or servicing. perating Instructions 1. CLING PERATIN (perating temperature range: 17 C-43 C/62 F-110 F) - Press the "MDE" button several times until the "CL" indicator is on. - Press the "TEMP ADJUST" buttons " " or " " to select your desired room temperature. The temperature can be set within a range of 17 C-30 C/62 F-88 F. - Press the "FAN SPEED" button to choose the fan speed. 2. DEHUMIDIFYING PERATIN (perating temperature range: 13 C-43 C/54 F- 110 F) - Press the "MDE" button several times until the "DRY" indicator is on. - Under this mode, you cannot adjust the fan speed and the temperature. The fan motor will always operate at High speed. - Keep windows and doors closed for best dehumidifying results. - For optimum dehumidification D NT connect the duct to the air conditioner. CAUTIN: During Cooling and dehumidifying modes, if the unit is powered off (unplugged, power failure, etc.) and restored immediately, thereafter, the compressor can not start in 3 minutes because of the built-in protection function. 3. HEATING PERATIN (not applicable for cooling only models) (perating temperature range: 5 C-30 C/41 F-88 F) - Press the "MDE" button several times until the "HEAT" indicator is on. - Press the "TEMP ADJUST" buttons " " or " " to select your desired room temperature. The temperature can be set within a range of 17 C-30 C/62 F-88 F. - Press the "FAN SPEED" button to choose the fan speed. - Do not connect the duct to window. 8

10 4. FAN PERATIN - Press the "MDE" button several times until the "FAN" indicator is on. - Press the "FAN SPEED" button to choose the fan speed. The temperature cannot be adjusted. - Do not connect the duct to window. 5. TIMER PERATIN Setting the N timer (When the air conditioner is off): - Press the TIMER "N/SET" button. - Repeatedly press the TIMER "N/SET" button to select the desired time for automatically starting the unit. The Digital Display will indicate the n time. The time setting is programmed in: hours. - The N time can be set from 0.0 to If 0.0 is set, the Timer N function will be cancelled. Setting the off timer (When the air conditioner is on): - Press the TIMER "FF/SET" button. - Repeatedly press the TIMER "FF/SET" button to select the desired time for automatically starting the unit as above. - The FF time can be set from 0.0 to If 0.0 is set, the Timer FF function will be cancelled. Setting the on/off timer (When the air conditioner is either on or off): Both Timer N and Timer FF functions can be set as above when the air conditioner is either on or off. However, if the Timer N time is longer than the Timer FF time, the unit will perform timer off first then timer on. If the Timer FF time is longer than the Timer N time, the unit will perform timer on first. Notes: If the timer N is before the timer FF setting when the unit is operating, the Timer N function will not be performed. If the timer FF is before the timer N setting when the unit is off, the Timer FF function will not be performed. 6. WATER TANK DRAINAGE A) During Cooling Mode: - Install the Flexible Exhaust Hose and the Adjustable Window Slider Kit. - When the water level inside the tank reaches a predetermined level, the unit will stops operation automatically while the fan motor will continue to operate. - Carefully remove the water tank from the cabinet and dispose of the water. Replace the water tank back to its original position. B) During Dehumidifying Mode: - Remove the top drain plug from the back of the unit and connect the drain hose, then connect the other end of the drain hose to the water tank as depicted in Fig.6. After removing the inlet cover from the water tank so that the condensed water will flow into the tank through the drain hose. - When the water tank is full, just pull it out and dispose of the water. 9

Window Kit Installation Assemble the duct hose kit and connect the duct hose to the unit as shown in Fig. 8. Your window kit has been designed to fit most standard "vertical" and "horizontal" window applications. However, it may be necessary for you to improvise/modify Fig.8 some aspects of the installation procedures for certain types of window. Please refer to Fig. 9 & Fig. 9a for minimum and maximum window openings. Horizontal window Vertical window Window Slider Kit Minimum:67.5cm(2.22ft). Maxmum:123cm(4.04ft). Note: If the window opening is less than the above mentioned minimum length of the window slider kit, cut the section of the window slider with holes in it to make it shorter to fit the window opening. 13 2. IMPRTANT: Install the portable air conditioner in a flat and spacious location where the air outlets will not be covered up. A minimum clearance of 30cm from a wall or other obstacles should be kept (See Fig.10). The appliance should not be used in a laundry. The power outlet must be accessible after appliance is positioned. Installation work must be performed in accordance with national wiring standards by authorised personal only (if applicable). Fig.10 30cm 30cm 3. DUCT UTLET INSTALLATIN: Fig.11 A) WINDW 1. Attach one end of the duct to the exhaust air outlet of the portable air conditioner. According to the arrow direction shown in Fig.11 push it downwards, be sure to fix thoroughly. 2. Attach the other end of the duct to adaptor B. 3. Put the end of duct to a nearby window using the window kit (See Fig.12). B) WALL 1. Attach one end of the duct to the exhaust air outlet of the portable air conditioner. According to the arrow direction shown in Fig.11, push it downwards, be sure to fix thoroughly (See Figs. 13 and 13a). 2. Install the adaptor A onto the wall by using 4 expansion plugs and screws, be sure to fix thoroughly. (See Fig.13a) 3. Attach the other end of the duct to adaptor A. 4. 14 The duct can be compressed or extended between 500mm and 1500mm, but it is desirable to keep the duct length to a minimum. For optimum dehumidification D NT connect the duct to the air conditioner during Dehumidifying mode. IMPRTANT: D NT VER BEND THE DUCT (See Fig.14) 4. WATER TANK SAFETY FEATURE This unit is equipped with a water tank which has an adhesive tape attached in the factory to protect the water lever switch during transportation. Before first use of the unit, please remove the water tank and remove the adhesive tape (See Fig.15) and then carefully replace the water tank in its original position. Never push or kick it, otherwise a malfunction may occur. When the water level reaches a predetermined level, the digital display will indicate "P1" and the water full indicator flashes in red. Carefully remove the water tank from the cabinet and dispose of the water (See Fig.16). Replace the water tank back in its original position. The red light and "P1" symbol will disappear. The unit will continue operating properly. Fig.15 Note: When removing the water tank from the cabinet, please do it slowly and gently to prevent water splashing. Any time when the water tank is removed/displaced, and/or full of water, the water full indicator will flash red and the digital display will indicate "P1". Fig.16 13

15 INSTALLATIN INSTRUCTINS MAINTENANCE IMPRTANT: 1) BE SURE T UNPLUG THE UNIT BEFRE CLEANING R SERVICING. 2) D NT USE GASLINE, THINNER R THER CHEMICALS T CLEAN THE UNIT. 3) D NT WASH THE UNIT DIRECTLY UNDER A TAP R USING A HSE. THIS ACTIN CULD RESULT IN AN ELECTRICAL HAZARD F FATALITY. 4) IF THE PWER CRD IS DAMAGED, IT SHULD BE REPAIRED BY AUTHRISED PERSNEL NLY. 1. AIR FILTER - Clean the air filter at least once every two weeks for optimum performance. - Removal Pull out the filter cover and remove the air filter from the filter cover (See Fig.18). - Cleaning Wash the air filter by immersing it gently in warm water (about 40 C/104 F) with a neutral detergent. Rinse the filter and dry it in the shade. - Mounting Attach the air filter to the filter cover using the attachment hooks on the inner surface of the cover. Refit the filter cover back on the unit. Fig UNIT ENCLSURE - Use a lint-free cloth soaked with neutral detergent to clean the unit enclosure. Finished with a clean dry cloth. 3. UNIT IDLE FR A LNG PERID - When you plan to leave this unit unused for a long time, carefully take the unit to the place where is convenient to drain the water and remove the bottom rubber plug from the back drain hole and let the water in the chassis drain out. All the water in the chassis should be drained out prior to storage (See Fig.19). Note: When panel displays "P2", perform as above to drain all water in the chassis out. Then replug the power cord. If "P2" is still displayed, contact your authorised service provider. 14 Fig.19 Fig.18

(Cooling mode) The windows or doors of the room are not closed. There are heat sources inside the room. Exhaust air duct is not connected or blocked. Temperature setting is too high. Empty the water in the water tank. Reset the temperature. Reset the temperature. Make sure all the windows and doors are closed. Remove the heat sources if possible. Connect the duct and make sure it can function properly. Decrease the setting temperature. 3. PWER SHUTS FF IN HEATING MDE (HEATING/CLING MDELS NLY) 4. NISE R VIBRATIN 5. GURGLING SUND 6. CMPRESSR DES NT WRK AND THE DIGITAL DISPLAY AREA SHWS P2 Air filter is blocked by dust. The over temperature protection function may have been activated. When the temperature at the air outlet exceed 70 C/158 F, th e device will be stopped. The floor is not level or not flat enough. The sound comes from the flowing of the refrigerant inside the air-conditioner. The water in the chassis is full. 15 Clean the air filter. Switch on again after the unit has cooled down. Place the unit on a flat, level surface if possible. It is normal. Remove the bottom drain plug and drain the water outside. (See Fig.19)

It is an important document. Please keep it with your proof of purchase documents in a safe place for future reference should you require service for your Electrolux appliance. General Terms and Conditions 1. In this warranty (a) 'Electrolux' means Electrolux Home Products Pty Ltd ABN in respect of Appliances purchased in Australia and Electrolux (NZ) Limited in respect of Appliances purchased in New Zealand; (b) 'Appliance' means any Electrolux product purchased by you accompanied by this document; (c) 'Warranty Period' means (i) where you use the Appliance for personal, domestic or household purposes in Australia the period of '24' months and in New Zealand the period of 24 months; (ii) where you use the Appliance for commercial purposes, in Australia the period of '6' months and in New Zealand the period of 6 months, (if the period stated is 0 months you are not covered by this product warranty); (iii) for Airconditioner accessories that are supplied as part of an Appliance by Electrolux the period of 12 months; following the date of original purchase of the Appliance; (d) 'you' means the purchaser of the Appliance not having purchased the appliance for re-sale, and 'your' has a corresponding meaning. 2. This warranty only applies to Appliances purchased and used in Australia or New Zealand and is in addition to (and does not exclude, restrict, or modify in any way) any nonexcludable statutory warranties in Australia or New Zealand. 3. Electrolux warrants that, when dispatched from an Electrolux warehouse, the Appliance is free from defects in materials and workmanship for the Warranty Period. 4. During the Warranty Period Electrolux or its Authorised Service Centre ( ASC ) will, at no extra charge, subject to these terms and conditions, repair or replace any parts which it considers to be defective. You agree that any replaced Appliances or parts become the property of Electrolux. This warranty does not apply to light globes, batteries, filters or similar perishable parts. Electrolux or its ASC may use reconditioned parts to repair your appliance. 5. Parts and Appliances not supplied by Electrolux are not covered by this warranty. 6. To make a claim under this warranty the Appliance and/or its accessories must be returned to an ASC For information about your nearest ASC please phone in Australia, or in New Zealand. 7. Proof of purchase is required before you can make a claim under this warranty. 8. You may not make a claim under this warranty unless the defect claimed is due to faulty or defective parts or workmanship. Electrolux is not liable in the following situations (which are not exhaustive): (a) The Appliance is damaged by: (i) accident (ii) misuse or abuse, including failure to properly maintain or service (iii) normal wear and tear (iv) power surges, sags, electrical storm damage or incorrect power supply (v) incomplete or improper installation (vi) incorrect, improper or inappropriate operation (vii) insect or vermin infestation. (b) The Appliance is modified without authority from Electrolux in writing. (c) The Appliance's serial number or warranty seal has been removed or defaced. (d) The Appliance was serviced or repaired by anyone other than Electrolux or its Authorised Service Centres. 9. This warranty, the contract to which it relates and the relationship between you and Electrolux are governed by the law applicable in the Australian State where the Appliance was purchased or the law applicable in New Zealand if the Appliance was purchased in New Zealand. Where the Appliance was purchased in New Zealand for business purposes the Consumer Guarantee Act does not apply. Limitation of Liability 10. To the extent permitted by law: (a) Electrolux excludes all warranties other than as contained in this document; (b) Electrolux shall not be liable for any loss or damage whether direct or indirect or consequential arising from your purchase, use or non-use of the Appliance. 11.
