1 LAMPS Taped Waste Items Lamps CANNOT be taped together. LAMP TYPES Fluorescent: All linear: ' & 8', CFL/PL, HID/HPS, U-Shape, Circleline and Biax, Ultraviolet, Germicidal All Hg Styles. Other Acceptable: Non Hg Incandescent, LED, PAR Flood, Halogen, etc. Intentionally broken lamps / bulbs. DO NOT CRUSH: Intentionally crushing can release mercury into the air and cause exposure to employees. Many states prohibit crushing lamps / bulbs and may require additional permitting and training
2 BATTERIES Taped Waste Items Many battery types require taping of the terminal(s). See below for additional guidance. BATTERY TYPES All chemistry types including: Lead Acid, Alkaline, Nickel Cadmium (NiCad), Zinc-Carbon (Zn), Rechargeable Lithium-ion (Li-Ion), Lithium (Primary), Nickel-Metal Hydride (NiMH), Mercury, Silver-Oxide, Zinc Air, etc. TAPE: There is one easy, but critical step prior to depositing batteries into the recycling containers. To prevent short circuit and possible fire, ensure the terminals cannot come into contact with other terminals, batteries, or metal objects by placing clear tape over the battery terminals, using the original battery packaging, or individually bagging each battery. Additionally, alkaline batteries do not require battery terminal protection, so you can deposit these batteries as-is in the proper NLR collection container

Secure recyclables in proper container including gaylord or similar type and secure to skid / pallet to avoid damage. Items must remain dry and stored indoors. De-manufacturing or disassembly into individual component parts may require state approval or licensing. Check with your local or state agency for further clarification. Broken CRT, LCD, or Monitors. Microwaves, Smoke Detectors, Household Appliances, some medical equipment, and White Goods
4 BALLASTS Ruptured Capacitors Anything that comes in contact with the heavy oil becomes hazardous waste. BALLASTS TYPES PCB, DEHP, Non-PCB, or Electronic Ballasts. DO NOT MI WASTE TYPES A separate DOT compliant container is required for storage and shipping of PCB and Non-PCB types
