2 Before using your Dryer Please read this booklet to be sure your dryer IS installed and used properiy It WIII help you get the best results and longest ltfe your dryer was desrgned to give. You are personally responsible for making sure that your dryer... l Is installed by a quailfled installer. l Is installed in an area protected from the weather l Is properly installed and leveled in a well ventilated room on a floor that can support the weight l Is located in an area where the temperature IS above 45 F (7 2-C). l Is connected to the right kind of outlet, electric supply and grounding. l Is properly connected to fuel and exhaust systems l Is used only for jobs normally expected of home clothes dryers. l Is properly maintained l Is not run where there may be explosive fumes. l Is not used by children or anyone unable to operate It properly Remove the Consumer Buy Guide label before using your dryer. It will be easier to remove. Wipe out the drum with a damp cloth to remove any dust. 3 loading Dryer your lint Screen The lent screen IS under the Ild on top of the dryer Ciean the iint screen before each iocd A screen that s blocked by Ilnt can cause longer drying trmes For best dryng results and energy savings, sort dryer loads carefully Separate loads according to the type of fabric and werght For example l Dry heavy fabrics (denrms. towels. cottons) separately from light fabrics (permanent press, synthetrcs) l Separate lint grvers [towels, sweatshirts, etc ) from lint takers (synthetics. blends, permanent press] l Keep dark colors and light colors separate l Keep colorfast Items away from noncolorfast fabrics Allow room for Items to tumble freely. The load will dry faster with fewer wrinkles When dryng permanent press, dry smaller-than-normal loads for the best wrinkle removal Use a mesh bag to hold small Items such as baby socks Read the Dryer Guide for more hints on sorting and loadlng To remove the screen, open the Ild and pull the screen strarght out Roll the lint off the screen with your fingers DO NOT rinse the screen or wash it. Wet lint is hard to remove. When replocrng the screen. push It firmly Into place Close the Ird

4 yourdryer 1. Put the sorted load in the dryer and close the door tightly. 2. Turn the Cycle Control Knob to the cycle you want. l Use LIGHT for sma I loads of lightweight fabrics The LIGHT Cycle runs for the least time Use LI GHT also to damp dry loads for lronrng l Use MED for norm& size loads of light or medium weight fabrrcs [sheets, piilowcases. shirts, etc ) l Use HEAVY for normal size loads of heavy fabrrcs (towels, jeans, corduroys\ l Use EX HEAVY for large loads or for heavy bulky Items (quilts spreads blarkets, etc ] SUGGESTION: You can set the Cycle Control Knob anywhere past, between or below the EX HEAVY and LIGHT settings For the ftrst few loads l Set the pornter lr the middle of the load setting l If the load IS drier than you wont, set it to the rrght (for less time1 the next time l If the load IS not as dry as you want, set tt to the left [for more time; the next time For example: l Use PERMANENT FRESS for a loriger period of cool-down time Set the pointer for the number of minutes of dn/ing time you wont [See Setting Dn/lng rimes on page 6 1 l If laundry IS left in the dryer after it has stopped tumbling, use the Tumble Press Control setting (page 6: to help remove the hrinkles 3. Set TEMPERATURE SELECTOR. l Turn the TEMPERATURE SELECTOR to the drying temperoture needed for the load See page 5 for suggested settings 4. Push the Start Button. l Make sure the door IS closed and Cycle Control IS set If the door IS opened during the cycle the dryer wrll stop To restart the dryer, close the door arid push the Start Button 5. To stop the dryer: l Open the door l Or, turn the Cycle Control Knob to one of the OFF postions l To change the setting while the dryer is running, tdrn the Cycle Control Knob, either way so It points to the seitlng you want NOTE: The Cycle Control Knob should point to OFF when the dryer is not being used IMPORTANT To help reduce wrinkling take the load from the dryer as soon as tumbling stops This IS very Important for permanent press, knits and other synthetic fabrics

6 Setting Drying Times Modern dryers are designed with dry/ins temperatures needed to safely handle modern fabrics Cooldown times have been added to heat settings You mrght notice slrghtly longer drying times The time It takes to dry a load depends on. l The kind of fabric, its weight and the size of the iood A large load of jeans WI/I take a lot longer to dry than a small load of light synthetics l The amount of moisture in the iood Towels hold a lot of moisture, synthetics don t. Synthetics dry faster l Temperature of the rinse water Cold rinses help save on energy and wrinkles, but a cold load WIII take slightly longer to dry than a warm one mamount of //nt on the screen A full lint screen slows the a/r flow and can make drying time longer l Room temperature The dryer heats room air If the room arr temperature IS not above 45 F (7 2 C), drying trme WIII be longer and removal of wrrnkles may be poor l Proper instaiiotion and exhousf sys~ terns For the fastest possrble drying time, Installing and exhausting your dryer properly IS important See rnstallation instructtons. Be careful not to overdry. Overdrying can cause shrinkage, damage to some fabrics and static cling. l Turn the TEMPERATURE SELECTOR to FLUFF AIR l Turn the Cycle Control Knob to the number of minutes you want In the PERMANENT PRESS Cycle l Push the Start Button. TUMBLE PRESS Control This setting IS useful for removing wrinkles from packing in surtcases or closets TUMBLE PRESS will help put them back into their pre-set shape l Set Cycle Control Knob to TUMBLE PRESS l Set TEMPERATURE SELECTOR to PERM T PRESS HEAVY HIGH l Push the Start Button For best results, TUMBLE PRESS only a few Items at a time, put them on hangers or fold them as soon as the dryer stops FLUFF AIR This temperature setting is useful for fluffing beddrng, pillows and clothrng, or dustrng drapes It IS also best to use when damp-drying heatsensitive items FLUFF AIR should be used for such Items as plastrc shower curtans or tablecloths. rubber-backed rugs, some pillows. stuffed toys, etc 6

7 If You Need Service or Assistance, We Suggest You Follow These Four Steps: 1. Before calling for assistance... Performance problems often result lrom little things you can find and fix yourself without tools of any kind. DRYER DOES NOT RUN l Is electric power cord plugged In? l Is the dryer door closed tightly Your dryer has a switch by the door that shuts off the dryer If the door is opened. l Did you push the Start Button? l Check clrcult breakers or both fuses In the fuse box DRYER RUNS BUT DOES NOT HEAT. l Is the Cycle Control Knob pointing to at least 10 minutes or LIGHT? (The last minutes are cool-down time ) l Is it a gas dryer? See if the gas IS turned on. If not, turn the Cycle Control Knob to OFF. Turn on the gas and wait five minutes for the automatic switch to reset. Then try starting it again l Is it an electric dryer? Check the circuit breakers or fuses in the fuse box. An electric dryer will have two fuses. If one is blown, the dryer may run, but not heat. DRYING TIME IS LONGER THAN USUAL. l Check the lint screen. Remove lint. Keep the screen clean for best drying results and times. l Modern dryers are designed to dry at the cooler temperatures needed. by modern fabrics They may need more time than you are used to. l Room temperature IS cold 2.
