9 Suggested Ratings Water Closets Water closets used in India can be classified into Three different types: European Water Closet. Combination Water Closet Asian / Indian Closet RATINGS 1. European water closet with cistern or flushometer rated at not more than 6 liters per flush 2. European water closet with dual flush cistern or dual flushometer rated at not more than 6 liters for full flush and 3 liters for liquid flush. 3. High - efficiency European water closet rated at not more than 4.8litres per flush. 4. High - efficiency European water closet rated at less than 4.8litres per flush. Urinals Shower Heads / Hand Held Showers Flushing devices for urinals shall be classified as: Electronically Manually Suggested Ratings 1. Urinal with flushing device rated at not more than 3.8liters per flush. 2. Urinal with flushing device rated at not more than 2 liters per flush. 3. Urinal with flushing device rated at not more than 1 liters per flush. Suggested Ratings 1. Shower head with flow-rates not exceeding 9.5 lpm. 2. Shower head with flow-rates not exceeding 7.5 lpm. 3. Shower head with flow-rates not exceeding 5.7 lpm.
10 Faucets Faucets may be classified as: Private Public Metered Non Metered Suggested Ratings Private Use: 1. Non metered faucets or faucets with aerators with flow-rates of not more than 8lpm. 2. Non metered faucets or faucets with aerators with flow-rates of not more than 5.7lpm. 3. Non metered faucets or faucets with aerators with flow-rates of not more than 5.7lpm. Public Use: 1. Non metered faucets at the drinking fountain with flow rates not more than 8 lpm 2. Metered faucets with delivery of 1litre per cycle or non-metered faucets with flow rate of not to exceed 2 lpm. 3. Metered faucets with electronic actuator with flow rates of 1litre per cycle. 4. Non metered faucets with electronic actuator or a push tap at the drinking fountain with flow rates not more than 8 lpm. Suggested Ratings : Sink Faucets Sink faucets with flow rates not to exceed 8 lpm Sink faucets with flow rates not to exceed 5.7 lpm Handheld Abulation Spray (Ablution faucet with hose and trigger) Suggested Ratings: 1. Handheld ablution spray with flow rates of not more than 8 lpm 2. Handheld ablution spray with flow rates not to exceed 5.7 lpm
11 Dishwashers Definition: The quantity of water used in liters per full machine wash and rinse. Suggested Rating: 1. Dish washer using not more than 22liters of water per full load of wash and rinse cycle. 2. Dish washer using less than 22 liters of water per full load of wash and rinse cycle. Clothes Washers Definition: The quantity of water in liters used to wash each cubic meter volume of machine drum capacity. Suggested Rating: 1. Cloth washers with water consumption less than 650 liters per cubic meter of drum volume. 2. Cloth washers with water consumption of less than 550 liters per cubic meter of drum volume. EXEMPTED 1. Flow rates of various fixtures indicated above are at a working pressure of 5.5 bar. The maximum and minimum working pressure recommended by the UPC are 5.5bar and 0.5 bar (installations with flushing cisterns) / 1.0bar (installation with flush valves) respectively. 2. Fixtures and Appliances shall met the requirement of UPC-I or approved standard. Emergency Showers
