2 Introduction This instruction manual covers the operation of versions of the Domestic Ice Machine Model TS-061 manufactured after April Please read these instructions carefully and retain them for future reference. The appliance must be connected to a (nominally) 240V AC 50Hz. earthed electrical supply and be protected with a 13 Amp. fuse. The Domestic Ice Machine produces 12 ice cubes every cycle of 12 to 18 minutes approximately depending which size of cube is selected. It is equipped with a clear Function Display which includes ice cube size selection (S small, M medium and L large), start and stop buttons and a water level indicator. The unit has a separate mains electricity On/Off switch. When the machine is switched on the ice cube size defaults to small (S). This indicates that the machine was manufactured after April Machines manufactured before this date normally default to medium (M) cube size. Page 2 of 8

4 Preparing the Ice Machine for Use Unpack the machine and place it on a sturdy level surface. The machine should normally be operated in an ambient temperature of up to 20º C (68ºF). It is recommended that the packaging materials are retained for future secure movement or transport. The refrigerant inside the machine must have time to settle following transportation and a minimum stabilisation period of three hours is suggested prior to switching on the machine. There are two ventilation grilles in the machine cover, one in the lower left hand side and one in the upper rear. To assure correct machine operation these grilles must not be obstructed and a gap of at least 10 cm. (4 inches) between the machine and other appliances or walls must be maintained. Remove the Water Tank (the lower of the two removable drawers) from the machine front and pour in fresh tap water to the MAX line of the Water Level Indicator on the front of the water tank. If desired bottled water may be used in the machine. Place the Water Tank fully home into its recess. Remove the Ice Cube Container drawer and replace, again ensuring that it is fully home in its recess. Ensure the Cover with Window is closed. Machine Operation Plug the machine mains electricity lead in to a suitable supply and switch on the On/Off Switch situated in the lower right hand side panel. The On/Off Switch is illuminated and should light up. The machine may bleep several times whilst the internal components reset themselves. If this does happen the bleeping should last no longer than 20 seconds. If the bleeping continues for a longer period withdraw both the Water Tank and the Ice Cube Container slightly and re-insert them ensuring they are fully home within their recesses. When the Water Tank is withdrawn the WATERTANK indicator should change from green to red or red/orange, and when re-inserted the indicator should go green. If the WATERTANK indicator stays red or red/orange this could mean that the internal water level indicator is not operating correctly. Remove the Water Tank and ensure that the black float in the transparent level indicator on the back (internal) side of the tank is free, ie that the float is not stuck at the bottom of the indicator. If necessary tap the indicator to free the float. Page 4 of 8

5 The ice cube size S (small) of the SELECT button should be illuminated red as this is the default setting. Press and hold down for two seconds the START button on the Function Display. The machine will start up with the water pump, cooling fan and compressor starting to operate. Looking through the right hand side of the window in the cover water will be seen entering the water tray. Ice cubes will be produced in approximately 12 minutes (on the S selection). When ice cubes have been deposited in the Ice Cube Container the machine will bleep four times after which ice cubes may be taken out. Attempts to remove ice cubes from the Ice Cube Container earlier in the cycle may result in continuous bleeping depending on when during the cycle removal is attempted. If the machine does bleep continuously when the Ice Cube Container is removed then replace the Container. The machine will continue to produce ice cubes at approximately 12 minute intervals. Some variation in cube size should be expected on initial switch on however such variation should be minimised once the machine has settled down. When the Ice Cube Container is completely full the machine will automatically detect this and bleep 10 times and, if the container is not emptied, the machine will go into sleep mode after approximately 5 minutes. Emptying a full Ice Cube Container or replacing the Container in its recess will automatically start the ice making cycle. If the Ice Cube Container is not emptied the cubes will begin to melt and the water produced will drain into the Water Tank. When sufficient cubes have melted the ice making cycle will start again automatically. If the WATERTANK indicator goes red or red/orange this indicates that the Water Tank is getting low and requires topping up. The Water Tank must not be topped up during the last two or three minutes of the ice cube production cycle as any unfrozen water in the water tray is deposited back into the Water Tank when the water tray inverts. If the Water Tank is removed and the water tray inverts water will be deposited in to the base of the machine and on to the surface on which the machine is standing. The ideal time to top up the Water Tank is just after the four bleeps mentioned above. Topping up immediately the indicator turns from green to red or red/orange is not necessary. When topping up a machine which has been running for a number of cycles the water level should be topped up to approximately 5mm (¼ inch) below the MAX line of the Water Level Indicator. This is to allow for the Water Tank to accept the contents of the water tray after water tray inversion without the Water Tank overflowing. The machine can be stopped at any time by pressing the STOP button on the Function Display. If this is done the red START indicator will flash. Page 5 of 8

6 After Use When the Ice Machine is not to be used for some time (eg during the next 48 to 72 hours) it should be disconnected from the electrical supply and any remaining ice cubes should be removed and the Water Tank emptied. Any excess water in the Ice Cube Container and the Water Tank should be removed using paper kitchen towels or similar product. It is recommended that the machine is cleaned on a regular basis, perhaps once every three months, by using a solution of 1 part vinegar to 10 parts water. The machine should be allowed to complete one ice making cycle with this cleaning solution, left to stand for 6 hours then emptied, thoroughly rinsed with fresh water and dried as in the previous paragraph. An alternative cleaning solution is 1 part bicarbonate of soda to 5 parts water. Again one complete ice making cycle should be completed and the machine allowed to stand for 6 hours, emptied, rinsed and dried before further use. Solvents, detergents and abrasives must not be used for cleaning. Hints and Tips Do not place the ice machine on its side or upside down. Pay particular attention to this when the machine is being moved. Ventilation grilles must not be obstructed. Do not immerse the machine in water or other liquid. The machine has internal moving parts. Do not open the Cover when the machine is connected to the electricity supply and take particular care to prevent children from getting access to or playing with the machine. The ice making bars are very cold and touching them could result in ice burns. Do not use water that is below 8ºC (47ºF) as this may cause the ice cubes to fuse into one large block of ice. Always try small (S) cube selection first as this may give cubes of sufficient size. As with all electrical appliances, if used outdoors ensure that it is protected from the elements and, where possible, an earth leakage contact breaker is used. Page 6 of 8

7 Do not put the machine near heat sources. In case of damage to the appliance or its lead we advise not using the appliance and to return it for repair. Using parts not recommended by the manufacturer can be dangerous. Only use the appliance for its intended use. The refrigerant gas used in the ice machine (R134a) is chemical waste. Disposal of the machine must be done in a proper environmentally friendly way. Inquire about proper disposal with your municipal waste processing department. Problems and Malfunctions If the indicator light on WATERTANK is illuminated red or red/orange the water tank level is low and requires topping up. If the L and START indicator lights flash and the machine bleeps then the Ice Cube Container is not positioned properly. Withdraw the container and replace it in its recess. (Faulty drawer positioning is the most common cause of machine malfunction. Ensure that the Ice Cube Container and the Water Tank are correctly positioned in their recesses.) If the M indicator is illuminated and the machine bleeps, or the M indicator is flashing and the machine is not bleeping, the ice cube preparation process is stuck. It may be that ice cubes are stuck to the freezer element, an ice cube is stuck in the mechanism or the ice cubes have fused into a block of ice. If this happens switch off the machine and unplug it from the mains supply. Open the cover and leave it open until any ice blockages melt. Close the cover, plug the appliance in to the supply and switch on. In the event of any machine stoppages, malfunctions or indicator light sequences not already covered in these instructions switch the machine off for one minute and then switch it on again. This should clear any spurious faults. For any faults which cannot be cleared and for further assistance and service the contact information is shown on the next page. Page 7 of 8
