2 Install guide 8035 aution To avoid electrical shock and to prevent damage to the furnace, air conditioner, and thermostat, disconnect the power supply befe beginning wk. This can be done at the circuit breaker, at the appliance. P 1 Tools 1 Location ou will need #1 Phillips screwdriver (small) and Drill with 3/16-in. (4.8mm) bit f this installation. ï On replacement installations, mount the new thermostat in place of the old one if possible. ï On new Installations, follow the guidelines listed below. ï Locate the thermostat on an inside wall, about 5 ft. (1.5m) above the flo, and in a room that is used often. ï Do not install it where there are unusual heating conditions, such as: in direct sunlight; near a lamp, radio, television, radiat register, fireplace; near hot water pipes in a wall; near a stove on the other side of a wall. ï Do not locate in unusual cooling conditions, such as: on a wall separating an unheated room; in a draft from a stairwell, do, window. ï Do not locate in a damp area. This can lead to crosion that will shten thermostat life. ï Do not locate where air circulation is po, such as: in a cner an alcove; behind an open do. ï Do not install the unit until all construction wk and painting has been completed. ï This thermostat does not require leveling. Some have locking screws on the side front. These must be loosened. Note the letters printed near the terminals. ï ttach labels (enclosed) to each f identification. Loosen all screws on the old thermostat and remove it from the wall. ï Fill wall opening with non-combustible insulation to prevent drafts. P 4 3 Mount the 8035 ï Separate front from back of unit. Press up on the catch on bottom of thermostat and swing the body away from the base, lift up to remove the body from the base. Hold the base against the wall, with the s coming through the opening below the terminal block. ï Position the base f best appearance. (If you chose to use the optional wall plate, hold the wall plate against the wall, with the s coming through the opening. Then pull the s through the opening in the base unit. Position the base unit f best appearance.) ï ttach the base to the wall with the three screws provided. If you are mounting the base to sheet rock if you are using the old mounting holes, use the plastic anchs provided. Initially, all LD segments will go off. NOTE: eplace the batteries when this LO battery indicat appears on the display once a year. hen replacing batteries, you have approximately 1/2 minute befe your custom program is lost. 6 Options Please be aware of the following power options. 1) The 8035 can run on batteries only. (2 lkaline) The batteries will last well over 1 year. If the batteries are not replaced the thermostat will stop wking. 2) The 8035 can run on the if available. 24V ONL s shown in the wiring diagrams, The is the other side of the 24V heating transfmer.
