NEWSLETTER JUNE 18, 2017 UPCOMING EVENTS 4 th of July Parade Place: Flag Pole Date: 4th of July Time: 9:00 a.m. WWHOA Board Meeting Place: Gotha Community Center Date: 7/11 Time: 6:30 p.m. WillowWood Warriors Place: various Dates: Wednesdays Time: 8:00 a.m. 8:30 a.m., as needed Sip & Chat Books Discussion Place: Le Café de Paris Date: 6/13 Time: 6:00 p.m. Soil Erosion! Due to the drought and then the down pours that we have had, there is soil erosion caused by water run off behind two of the storm water outfalls that feed into the pond. Please stay away from these areas. If you know any site contractor that would provide an estimate for repair, please send me contact info, Leah. 4 th of July Bike Parade on the 4 th of July (of course)

Board & Committee Updates WWHOA Reminders: 2 nd half of the Annual Assessment due by July 1 st. Letters have been sent to those who still owe the second half. Remember that a late fee is assessed on July 31 st if not paid. ARB The June inspection has happened this weekend. Thank you ARB team working to keep our property values up! All homeowners will receive a letter of how they did. Remember that this was a snap shot view - one look at one time of the day. Please use this letter to interpret what a visitor sees when touring WillowWood. Items that were watched for included: bare areas in yard, overgrown landscaping, mold and personal property visible from the street (especially trash cans not placed to be as unsightly as possible). This is a great time to reach out to neighbors for recommendations on contractors, plant suggestions and teamwork on getting jobs done. Sno-Cap is a product that WWHOA has used on the iron staining on the front walls to great effect. Another homeowner has had great results from a 70% solution of pool chlorine and water to remove mold on roof tiles. Sprinkler Times Still TWO (2) days for watering Both well water and utility water is constrained by the following: From the second Sunday of March to the first Sunday of November we have sprinkler days of either Wednesday & Saturday or Thursday & Sunday. If your home has an odd-numbered or no address (our WWHOA systems have no address per the O.C. water police), water on Wednesdays & Saturday. And if your home is an even-numbered address, water on Thursdays and Sundays. BUT never water between 10 a.m. & 4 p.m. More details at Remember that well water is part of the restriction. All water but recycled water (purple pipes) comes from the aquafer DRINKING WATER!

Another use for 311 Stormwater drain blockage and erosion. Those metal grates along the roads are maintained by Orange County. Call 311 to report blockage, erosion and other damage. Do you recall that 311 also addresses sidewalks, tree over hangs of roadway and sidewalks & traffic signage? September Election for board members Becoming more of a hot topic!!!!!!!!!!!!. Only 3 months until the Annual Homeowners Meeting. WWHOA Landscape improvements As we all work to spruce up our property, the WWHOA is doing it too. We ll be adding more jasmine to the entryway, as well as perennial peanut and bromeliads. Plenty of community service hours available to helping teens to dig holes and move mulch!! Contact Leah for details. CARP in the POND It s been noted that we have at least one carp in Hidden Pond. Not the fish of choice and does not respond to bait fishing. If you are able to catch it by any means that works, a prize will be awarded!!! We do not want them in our lake.

AROUND THE WOOD WANTED LIVE CREPE FOR DEAD We have a dead crepe myrtle tree in our Flag Pole area. I m looking for anyone who might have one that wants it removed from their yard. I would coordinate the removal by myself and another strong back or two. We would want the same color of course. Noted in Saturday s Sentinel, Tom MacCubbin wrote the following: No grass seems to like the shady spots, but some tolerate the filtered sun. Generally, if you have more than 25 percent shade, it is not a spot for Florida turf varieties. In the heavy shade, it would be best to choose another ground cover like Asiatic jasmine, foliage plants or mulch. Some St. Augustine grasses offer shade tolerance, but even these do not like the heavy shade. You might choose from Captiva, DeltaShade, Palmetto, Seville and a few others for a lightly shaded area. If you decide to give turf a try, summer is never the best time to establish sod in shade. Needed waterings and summer rains often lead to rot problems that cause new turf to decline. Fall through early spring would be a better time to try sodding the shady spots. I have a bed of holly fern I want to thin, interested in some free plants? Leah

Congratulations to all graduates!!
