White State Forest Nursery. Orders are accepted from Nov. 1, 2016 through April 15, 2017, though some species sell out quickly. Prices range from $0.16 to $0.80 per seedling. The catalog is available at MDC regional offices and nature centers, online at mdc.mo.gov/seedlings or by contacting the State Forest Nursery at or at StateForestNursery@mdc.mo.gov At the February HMMG meeting, Linda Rexroth distributed the Geobins that MG s ordered. She reports there are very few left over for purchase, if you still want to have one. Cost is $25 per bin. You may contact Linda directly to purchase. Our Program speaker will be Charles Paxton. An option for home gardens is straw bale gardening, which can be done anywhere, even your driveway with a few simple supplies, a little muscle, and let er grow! April 23rd Earth Day Event is Sunday, April 23 at Peace Park next to MU campus. Our plant sell license has been obtained but times, more information and MG Volunteer opportunities will be forthcoming. May 12 th Fun Family Fishing Night, 6-8 p.m. Enjoy a Friday evening of fun and relaxation at J FG. Bring your family and friends to fish the 7-acre stocked fishing pond and be the first to include your picture on the JFG trophy board with your big catch! Enjoy s mores by the bonfire or just sit back and relax with a cold drink. Cost is $5 per person [4 yrs and younger free] and includes rental of fishing pole, bait, one s more and drink per paid person. Fishing is catch and release only, no fishing license required. Visitors will have the opportunity to rotate through fun and interactive activities exploring the life cycle of a dairy cow, milk production, how milk goes from farm to table, and many products made from milk. Additionally, visitors can learn importance of dairy products for good health. Event will assist local farmers, businesses, organizations to engage consumers in educational experiences about food and agriculture. Event is FREE and open to the public, but some activities will have a small fee to participate. June 16th Fun Family Fishing Night, 6-8 p.m. Enjoy a Friday eve of fun and relaxation at JFG. 6 Page 6 Heart of Missouri Master Gardener Newsletter Heart of Missouri Master Gardners Operational/Focus Area Structure Adopted by membership on April 19, 2016 Committee Members: Alice Havard, Mary Ann Gates, Marie Pasley, Steve Ferguson At the regular meeting of the HMMGs on April 19, 2016, the following plan was adopted as the organization s structure for all future program delivery. It was decided that a Coordinator or Coordinators would be selected to lead the program delivery efforts in each Focus Area. This structure and coordinators responsibilities are subject to periodic review and update as determined by the membership. The Focus Areas and Coordinators assigned are as follows: Focus Area 1 Gardening Projects and Community Outreach Establish long-term relationship with Garden Establish and maintain a Trial Garden at the Farm Ongoing Gardening Projects: Grow Well Missouri Extension Grounds Habitat for Humanity Family Impact Center Landscape Coordinator(s): Ferguson, Pasley, Havard, Puleo, Gates and Paxton Focus Area 2 Membership, Training & New Member Orientation Develop and maintain a Membership Directory (include skills list to support Speakers Bureau) Better Scheduling and sign up for Activities Establish and maintain a new member mentoring program that may include Assign existing members as mentor for new graduating members Calling new Members Require new members to complete Capstone project(s) for hours Require Trainees to attend meeting before graduation Better time and project reporting/monitoring annual re-certification of members Coordinator(s): Puleo, Rexroth Focus Area 3 Speakers Bureau, Booths and Festivals Establish, maintain and promote Speakers Bureau Support Teaching Areas: Ask a Master Gardner Container Garden Seminar Osher Adult Learning Center Talks at the Library Sustainable Living Seminar Staff and support Booth Program: Earthday Chestnut Festival Southfarm Farmers Market Create TV Festival Coordinator(s): Green, White, Paxton

August pm 2 people to hand out drinks/s more packs 8 people to assist with fishing- getting fish off hooks, baiting hooks, untangling line stuck in the weeds Dairy Days- 6 people per shift Saturday, June am to 4 pm.
