3 The four founding Visscher brothers, Joe, Len, Ted, and Pete. OUR STORY A rich history The Visscher story begins over four decades ago in the deepest forests of Canada s most rugged province, British Columbia. In 1961, after several years in the BC logging industry, the four young Visscher brothers founded a retail lumber yard in the Fraser Valley town of Chilliwack. By the late 1970 s, Visscher Lumber switched to a remanufacturing operation, and in 1976 the brothers opened a metal forming plant. Today, the Visscher Family of Companies also operates two wood processing plants in Chilliwack with four kilns for on-site drying of lumbers. On-site warehouses, as well as worldwide representation, ensure a steady supply of wood products for markets in North America, Europe, and the Pacific Rim. Visscher Specialty Products With the capability to run any wood profile in-house, it was a natural progression for Visscher to become a specialty wood product manufacturer. Thus, Visscher Specialty Products was born and today produces pre-cut kits including series of spa enclosures and gazebos. Our on-site warehousing and remanufacturing facilties give us access to the best lumber available for our products, and facilitate quality control at each stage of production. Our 20,000 sq.ft. plant houses some of the most advanced wood processing equipment in the industry. 45 YEARS In 2006 the Visscher Family of Companies celebrated their 45th year in business. 5 MATERIALS OVERVIEW Western Red Cedar Cedar is one of the longest lasting natural woods and the most durable. This makes it the best material for outdoor buildings. We use Western red cedar as our base material in most of our spa enclosures for its outstanding qualities. Its durability comes from its unique composition. Being from the gymnosperm family, its wood is conditioned to be incredibly strong and to hold up in all weather conditions. The natural aromatic oil in cedar makes it an excellent repellent to insects and protects it from fungi and other bacteria. The fragrant oil also protects the wood enabling it to resist rot. These points make it ideal for a hot tub enclosure. The wood stays cool throughout the summer and, if coated with a quality transparent stain, will retain its warm amber colour for years to come. If left to age naturally, the cedar will become a beautiful silver grey colour. Metal Roofing Our metal roofs have been expertly designed for durability and flair. A metal roof will not decompose and can withstand all weathers. The Duraclad metal is strong and durable and is used in most of our gazebos, creating a long lasting and virtually maintenance free roof. It is available in different colours enabling you to match your existing structures. The Dekk-Tile is a contemporary Clay-tile style metal that will add flair and elegance to your outdoor building. It creates vivid shadows that will enhance any structure. It has low gloss resin based high performance colour coatings in 26 gauge with a 25-year paint warranty. The roof arrives in pre-assembled panels making this easy to erect. Painted Pine Posts The painted pine posts used in our Vista Pavilion series allow for a neutral colour to blend into the newer style homes. Strong and durable, they boost the natural flow of the architectural design into the structures creating a softer merge with the metal roof and powder coated railings. Fibreglass Posts The Vista Pavilion rock posts are manufactured using the best quality fibreglass and finished in a neutral stone effect for that classic architectural design. Fibreglass offers optimum performance in providing a wide range of tensile, flexural and impact strength properties. The lightweight and flexible materials allow you to construct the gazebo with ease. It can deliver more strength per unit weight than any other un-reinforced plastic and most metals making this the ideal post material. Fibreglass components hold their shape under severe mechanical and environmental stresses. The posts are highly resistant and will not rust or rot when housing your hot tub. Railings The powder coated aluminium rust-free railings, finished in an elegant gun metal colour, add chic and flair to the new and exciting range of Vista Pavilion series. The benefits are lightweight, virtually maintenance free, aesthetically pleasing, and of course rust free. Acrylic Windows Our windows are manufactured with bronzed acrylic and operate on an aluminium tracking system with nylon runners that prevent moisture swelling and guarantee a smooth operation. Shingle style panels The fully enclosed pavilion has synthetic shingle style panels which are pleasing to the eye and add a touch of style to the classic design. The Lattice series is a more open style gazebo while the Wood and Metal roof series are fully enclosed and excellent for a more intimate setting. The Lattice and Wood roof series have the bonus of a 3' x 3' skylight for star-gazing on clear nights and each of our 10' x 14' units have two skylights. The louvre windows are preassembled to make it easier to build your spa enclosure. The metal used in our roofs comes with a 25-year guarantee. Peace of mind To make the building of your new spa enclosure as smooth as possible we are available at our toll-free number if any questions arise during the construction process. Assembly as easy as 1,2,3... Our kits come partially assembled, so all you need to do is assemble the pre-built components using a screwdriver or drill. Along with easy-to-follow instructions, we supply all the screws, as well as a convenient screwdriver bit to attach to your drill.
