1 MALIBU ORCHID SOCIETY Volume XLVIII, xiv May 2012 President Message MOS Meeting Our most important recent event was the annual plant auction on April 17. Although it did not generate the income we received last year, it was a success and many of us acquired some wonderful plants. A number of members donated plants. However, I do not have a complete list, and rather than name a few members and miss several more, I would like to thank all of those who donated plants to the auction. Among the nurseries who generously gave us plants and supplies this year were Andy s Orchids, Calwest, Ned Daniger, George Hatfield, Art Mendoza and Orchids Royale. We encourage you to consider these supporters when next you buy plants. And, remember to always tell your supplier that you are a member of the Malibu Orchid society when you buy plants and supplies. Helping as volunteers to make the auction run successfully were: Sylvia Morton, Alice Hall, Angela Nice, Annette Rossilli, Cheri Hunter, David Acalin Edna Brock Ed Saraffian, Falguni Trieu, Jill Silton, John Delfino, Karen Smith, Rabinder Sekhon, Scott Barth and Summer Lieu. Grafton Tanquary May 15th, 2012 Pacific Palisades Women s Club 901 Haverford Avenue Pacific Palisades, CA 9027 Speakers: Falu Trieu and Birute Vileisis Orchids in Singapore and Thailand Longtime MOS members Falu Trieu and Birute Vileisis will share the highlights of their recent trip to Singapore and Thailand in November If you didn't have the opportunity to attend the 20th World Orchid Conference, Falu and Birute will present the best of the WOC winning displays and awarded plants. In addition, they will also give an illustrated overview of the orchid displays at the National Orchid Garden in Singapore's National Arboretum as well as a sneak preview of the extraordinary plant display at the newest horticultural attraction in Singapore, Gardens by the Bay, Continued on next page:
