2 2009 PROJECT HIGHLIGHTS The following 10 projects highlight the interesting places and applications where North Fork Native Plant products were used in From bioengineering applications, to wetland mitigation products and custom grown seedlings, we are dedicated to providing quality products and excellent customer service. 3 Wetland Mitigation Jackson, Wyoming Customer: Private Landowner May acres of palustrine emergent wetland was created in a historic upland pasture to mitigate impacts associated with a road. Peizometers were used to identify natural fluctuations in the water table and a grading plan was developed to intercept wetland hydrology. A combination of bulrush and sedge WETLAND SOD and 3T wetland plants were used to rapidly establish wetland vegetation to meet permit requirements and prevent weed infestations. Plants were installed in June of WETLAND SOD September 2009 Perimeter seeded with upland grasses

4 Spring Creek Restoration Mackay, Idaho Customer: Private Landowner ¾ mile of spring creek restoration focusing on narrowing and deepening a wide, impacted channel. WETLAND SOD and 5-gal willows were used to establish wetland and riparian vegetation on constructed point bars and islands. Construction was completed in winter 2009 and the project was planted in May WETLAND SOD was used to protect and plant the stream edge of the point bars and islands, eliminating the need for additional coir logs and erosion control fabric. 5-gal willows WETLAND SOD June 2009 WETLAND SOD June gal willows

5 Urban Drainage and Flood Control Denver, Colorado Customer: Matrix Design/ City of Denver Bio-Logs Custom grow 40 bio-logs; deep rooted willows Bio-logs were grown with a mix of Carex nebrascensis and Salix exigua to rapidly establish herbaceous and woody components. All woody material was custom grown from cuttings collected onsite. Deep Rooted Willows

6 Bank Stabilization Project Black Foot River, Idaho Customer: Private Landowner NRCS co-funded EQIP project. WETLAND SOD, Deep Rooted Willows, 5-gal Willows and Dormant Cuttings were used to address erosion on 1 mile of eroding banks. Project was constructed in two stages. In the fall/winter of 2008 wetland benches were constructed and dormant woody material was installed. Over one mile of WETLAND SOD was planted in August 2009 to address erosion at the toe of the banks. Average price per linear ft for a variety of treatments was $35 - $40. 7 Legacy Parkway Wetland Mitigation Salt Lake City, Utah Customer: HDR Engineering/Utah Department of Transportation Custom grow 29,153 3T; 47,000 bare root 3T plant price including plants, delivery and installation was $1.31 / plant. Bare root plant price including plants, delivery and installation was $1.06 / plant. A custom-grown habitat island was installed to provide loafing habitat for water birds. 8 Bank Stabilization Teton River, Idaho Customer: Teton Regional Land Trust 5-gal willows July 2009 NRCS co-funded project Salvaged Sod Dormant cuttings, salvaged sod, 5- gal willows and WETLAND SOD were used to stabilize an eroding bank on the Teton River. A planting bench at the toe of the slope was constructed and the dormant cuttings, salvaged sod and 5-gal willows were installed in the fall of WETLAND SOD was planted at the toe of the slope after high-water in August gal willows August 2009 WETLAND SOD

9 Wildlife Habitat & Cover Project Driggs, Idaho Customer: Private Landowner A remote solar powered drip irrigation system was installed to provide water to plants throughout the growing season. All plantings were fenced with 6 wildlife fencing to allow them to root without pressure from wildlife. August , 5-gal trees and shrubs including aspen, willow, rose and currant were planted in August 2009.

10 Milltown Dam Restoration Project Missoula, Montana Customer: State of Montana Department of Natural Resources Bio-logs containing alder, water birch, dogwood, coyote willow and drummond willow were custom grown for the Milltown Dam restoration project. Bio-logs were grown from dormant cuttings and seed collected on site and will be installed on a reconstructed floodplain in 2010 to add roughness and native plants.

11 Grand Teton National Park Native Forbs Moose, Wyoming Customer: Grand Teton National Park A custom grow project was completed in 2009 for Grand Teton National Park to start 2,200 forb seedlings. Species grown included sulfur buckwheat (Eriogonum umbellatum) and one-flower sunflower (Helianthella uniflora). Plants were grown to be uplanted to a seed increase plot as a longterm source for genetically pure, native seed.

12 Grandview Estates Landscaping Project Customer: Private Developer WETLAND SOD 5,412 linear feet of WETLAND SOD was used to plant native sedges and rushes along the edges of created pond habitat. 120, 5-gal willows and 9, 15# cottonwood trees were planted to provide riparian habitat adjacent to the ponds. Native plant materials were specified to meet Teton County, Wyoming s pond requirements, provide wildlife habitat and to colonize shallow zones that would otherwise be occupied by algae.
