2 Normanby Hall Country Park is a beautiful 300 acre estate set in the heart of North Lincolnshire. Open to the public every day of the year, the park offers the perfect backdrop to your day out. With impressive gardens, wildlife, a full schedule of events, walks and trails through the woodland, and a gift shop and café, there is plenty to keep you entertained all year round. During the summer months (April to September) the Hall and Farming Museum are open from 1pm to 5pm daily. The children s Splashpad also operates daily throughout the summer. The Hall Built in 1825, Normanby Hall is a Regency mansion designed by Sir Robert Smirke. It was previously home to the Sheffield family, former Dukes of Buckingham. Elegant rooms with fine Regency, Victorian and Edwardian furniture reflect the Hall s long history. Amongst the displays there is a room dedicated to telling the story of the Hall s role during the First and Second World War and an exhibition that explores the history of the building and the Sheffield family. The Hall is open daily from 1pm, 1 April to 29 September. Last admission is 4.30pm. ß Dress up in the Servant s Room! The Farming Museum Rural North Lincolnshire comes to life in recreations of a farm worker s kitchen and backyard, saddler s, and blacksmith s workshops. Old farm machinery and transport tell the story of how the land was worked between 1850 and Family activities take place daily in the Farming Museum. The Farming Museum is open daily from 1pm, 1 April to 29 September. Last admission is 4.30pm. ß Visit the Under 5s Area
3 Tours Free tours of the Hall take place every Tuesday and Thursday at 2pm during the summer season. There are a number of tours and talks that are available for group bookings. A full list can be found at with information on our preferential admission price and dining offer for groups. Exhibitions Situated on the first floor of the Hall, the costume gallery will this year feature the exhibition Join Our Club!. Looking at the uniforms and accessories of clubs, societies and schools, the history of many clubs from the local area is explored. Celebrated artist Harold Gosney has donated two life sized sculptures to the park. The 15 hand high sculptures of horses and riders are on display in the stables. Learn about Normanby s role during the First World War as an auxiliary hospital, and Second World War as an army base. The exhibition is on the first floor of the Hall. The first floor display in the Hall tells the story of the Hall and the Sheffield family as well as displaying costumes connected to the Sheffield family and Normanby Hall.
4 The Normanby Grounds Escape the stresses of everyday life in 300 acres of parkland and woodland. Dogs are Welcome in the park but must be kept on leads and all mess must be picked up The Victorian walled garden is a treat for any garden lover. Restored in 1997 to its late Victorian splendour, the garden is a nostalgic journey to the heyday of kitchen gardening. Visit recreations of working and living areas in the potting shed, bothy, and head gardener s office. The Walled Garden is open daily from 10.30am. Last admission is 4.30pm (summer) 3.30pm (winter). The Deer Park has been home to herds of red and fallow deer for over 250 years. You are welcome to walk through the public areas from January until the end of September. Please stay out of the deer sanctuary at all times. Please note that dogs are not allowed in the deer park. The woodland contains superb mature beeches, oaks and sweet chestnuts. There are also more unusual species like the Tulip Tree and the Handkerchief Tree. Close to the Hall is a magnificent Evergreen or Holm Oak, Quercus ilex. The tree is a rarity this far north and its lower branches are worn smooth by the generations of children playing on it. You ll also find dozens of species of birds, butterflies and wild flowers in the woodland and in autumn, unusual types of fungi. A path has been installed through the woodland to make the area accessible for wheelchairs and pushchairs.
5 Fishing at Normanby The 20 peg fishing lake at Normanby is well stocked with a variety of fish and is open from 1 January to 30 September from 9am until the park closes.
