HEGA Ethernet Gateway Web Interface Event Schedules Many alarms are placed on a schedule, such as door alarms. Define up to eight individual schedules and see what alarms those schedules affect. Community Settings Check-In Schedules For those communities using resident checkin, define what the start time and end time is. Night Schedules This schedule defines when nighttime begins, which affects both console and pager mapping. Under the Community Settings menu, you will find the following options: Zones Used to edit zone information such as resident names, phone numbers, assigned devices, and family contact information one zone at a time. Zone Groups Similar Zones are grouped together in Zone Groups. A Zone Group defines how alarms and events will be handled in all Zones assigned to it, such as alarm tone types, how alarms are reset, and much more. Alter a group s behavior in this section. Staff Pendants Manage your staff pendants here. Pager Mapping A Companion One system may have as many as 32 pager ID numbers. A pager ID defines either a group of pagers, or it defines a single radio (allowing for up to 31 hand-held radios and a radio base). Enable, disable and configure how those devices are mapped to Zone Groups here. 19

Zones In the Zones section, you can add new zones, edit existing zones, or even delete a zone entirely. The zones list shows up to 10 zones at a time and displays the following information: Zone The name of the room or place. Group Zones assigned to like groups share similar alarm characteristics such as schedules, resound intervals, etc. Type of Zone Wireless, Hardwired, or Telephony, with/without Check-in. Cab/Pos Cabinet and position. Hardwired zones are assigned to a specific cabinet, and then to a specific position on the cabinet. A list of rooms or zones assigned to the selected zone group. Each zone group has up to eight events. An event is essentially an alarm name, such as Emergency Call, or an event that the HEGA records on reports, such as Check- In Received. Each event has a plethora of characteristics and each is separately configured. To edit an event s characteristics, click the +/- beside the event. When finished, click Save Changes, or Discard Changes to abort. See the following page for a description of each characteristic. 24

HEGA Ethernet Gateway Web Interface Zone Group Characteristics Log Events Checking this option causes this event to appear on your printed daily reports. (See Reports.) Use Intercom This option opens a voice path to the apartment from which this alarm was received so that staff can immediately communicate with the resident in need. (Hardwired Data Router required.) Clear Required This option allows you to clear an alarm from the console without resetting it from the initiating device. (As long as Reset Required is also unchecked.) Use Auxiliary Reporting Device This option works in conjunction with certain installed pieces of head end equipment: Auxiliary System, Central Station adapters, and Serial Input adapters. Reset Required This option requires an alarm to be reset from the initiating device in order to clear it from the console. (As long as Clear Required is also unchecked.) Warning: At least one option Clear Required or Reset Required must be checked for an alarm to report to your console. If neither option is checked, no alarm will appear on the console, but it will still appear on your pages if Use Pager is selected, on your staff phones if Use Intercom is selected, and on Auditrak if you are a subscriber. Use Pager This option triggers a page, either to your radios or to your pagers, whenever this alarm event is likewise triggered. To enable, disable, or map your pagers, see Pager Mapping. Use Staff Phone This option causes an alarm to also ring to staff phones connected to your Companion One system. (Requires an HICA Voice Gateway.) Use Local Relay This option allows an alarm to also trigger along a local relay. Use Bus Relay #1 and Use Bus Relay #2 This causes the appropriate relay (either 1 or 2) to close on the HSCA emergency call server. Clear Bus Relay on Acknowledge A silenced, reset, or cleared alarm opens the bus relays on the HSCA. Bind Reset If two or more events are bound, then you can reset the event from the originating device or you can reset the event from any other device whose event is bound to it. For example, if Emergency Call and Bath Ecall both have Bind Reset checked, then you can reset a bathroom alarm with an Emergency Call transmitter, and you can reset an Emergency Call with a Bath Ecall Transmitter. Dome Light Checking this option will trigger a flashing dome light if this event is triggered. (Requires a hardwired dome light.) 25

Zone Group Characteristics (continued) Verification Time For hardwired zones only, this setting will cause a signal from this initiating device to delay for a specified period of time (in seconds) before reporting to the console, pagers, radios, etc. Audible Delay Measured in minutes, this option sets how long an alarm must appear on a console before it triggers its first audible alarm. (A silent alarm still appears on the console immediately with the message Alarm tone delayed. Alerts to pagers, radio, and staff phones still create an audible alarm immediately.) Console Tone Type This option sets the audible style for each event level. You may choose one of 16 different options. Schedule Select a schedule for your alarm. No Schedule means an alarm can be triggered at any point during the day. See Event Schedules to edit and rename your zone group schedules. Resound Interval Measured in minutes, the amount of time in this field defines how long an alarm will remain silent on a console before it resounds. Note: Alarms will not resound again if an alarm has been active on the console longer than 1 hour. Staff Pendants All of your staff reset pendants are listed in this window. Click the X to remove a pendant. To add a new pendant, simply type the code into the field and click Add New Code. 26

HEGA Ethernet Gateway Web Interface Pager Mapping Select the zone group you wish to map from the Zone Group drop-down menu. Enable or disable pager groups (also called pager IDs or radio IDs for those using staff radios) by simply checking and unchecking boxes for Initial Day, Initial Night, Resounds Day, and Resounds Night. When finished, click Save Changes, or Discard Changes to undo. For more information about night schedules, see Night Schedules. For more information about enabling pager groups on your pagers, consult the Commtech 7950 pager guide in the Silversphere user manual, or consult your pager s manufacturer. Initial Day Checking this box for a pager group means that any pager or radio with that group enabled will receive all initial pages as triggered by setting off a device during the day. Initial Night Checking this box for a pager group means that any pager or radio with that group enabled will receive all initial pages as triggered by an initial alarm during a pre-defined night schedule. Resounds Day Checking this box for a pager group means that any pager or radio with that group enabled will receive a page for each alarm resound as determined by a resound period during the day. Resounds Night Checking this box for a pager group means that any pager or radio with that pager group enabled will receive a page for each alarm resound as determined by a resound period during a pre-defined night schedule. 27

Event Schedules Event schedules apply to events (or alarm types) within rooms or zones that are assigned to zone groups. For example, motion alarm events in a memory care unit may be set to a schedule that allows these events to activate only between the hours of 9 PM and 7 AM. At any other time of the day, events transmitted by those devices assigned to the motion alarm event will not be reported or recorded. Event schedules are assigned to events individually in the Zone Group settings. For more information about assigning schedules to events, see Zone Groups. Night Schedule The night schedule applies to paging, staff phones, and desk consoles. These devices can be configured such that they work one way during the day, and then, beginning at the time specified within the night schedule, those devices begin working a different way during the night. For example, if a community has two consoles one at the reception desk and one at the nurses station alarms may go to the reception desk during the day, but at night, that desk may not be occupied, so the console can be configured on a night schedule. In such a case, alarms are re-routed to the nurses station during the night. Check-in Schedule The check-in schedule applies to apartments from which you expect your residents to check in. The Start Day and Start Time define when the system begins polling for active check-ins and keeping track of them within your check-in report. The Stop Day and Stop Time define when a reminder will appear on your desk console reminding you to begin your daily check-in follow-up. If you subscribe to Voice Services automatic check-in follow-up, then the automated reminders begin going to your residents 15 minutes before the Stop Time. 28

HEGA Ethernet Gateway Web Interface Configuring a Schedule (configuring schedules is the same for each schedule type.) 1) Select the schedule you want to alter from the drop-down menu. Rename it if you wish. 2) Edit the Start Day, Start Time, Stop Day and Stop Time by using the drop-down menus. You may also clear a schedule entirely by clicking Clear. 3) Save when finished, or discard to undo all changes. Zones Using This Schedule You can see a list of rooms or zones that already adhere to the schedule you are editing by looking at Zones Using This Schedule, found just below the schedule-editing pane. You will see the room and then the event. Some rooms may have multiple events adhering to the same schedule. 29

Starting a new test resets all pre-tested zones and data, starting each test from scratch. Previously run and available.pdf reports that have been saved. Click to open. Click to setup your hardwired station zone counts. While this test can keep track of wireless stations by their individual hexidecimal codes, hardwired stations have no such identifier. By setting the hardwired count, you can at least monitor how many succesfully tested alerts came from this room and match them to the number expected usually to coincide with the number of stations and smoke alarms. (See page 40.) Click this to refresh the page and see the results of your testing below. 38

HEGA Ethernet Gateway Web Interface Zone testing Once you begin to run a test, you can view the testing progress below the configuration pane. You will see Not Successfully Tested zones for any zone that has equipment installed and none of the equipment has been tested. Partially Tested lists zones that have had some of their equipment tested. Successfully Tested lists those zones that have been entirely tested. This list updates once every minute. To update it immediately, click Refresh Now. Once you have started a test, you may toggle the automatic refresh on and off with a checkbox. In the above example, none of the zones have yet been successfully tested. Click the plus sign beside a zone to view the alarm types within the zone that have equipment assigned to them. For a zone to be successfully tested, all devices must be triggered and reset. Also, each wireless device must also have been detected by two or more receivers, and its automated supervision must be detected by two or more wireless receivers. 39

Setting up Hardwired Zones To properly test a hardwired zone, you must first configure your system to expect a certain number and type of alarms from each zone. 1. Click Setup Hardwired Counts to begin configuring your zones. You will see a list of all available hardwired zone groups. (For more information on zone groups, see the Workbench 2.0 User Guide.) Each group shows every alarm type that may occur. Usually, you will not be testing for each of these. 2. Place a check next to only those alarms you will be testing, and type a number into the field for the number of times you expect this event to occur. 3. Click Apply Count to Group to apply these settings across every zone in that zone group. 4. It s not uncommon for some zones to have a different expected alarm count from other zones within the same zone group. If you have a specific zone with a different number of pull stations, for example, you can edit that information by scrolling down to the zone and updating it directly. 5. Once you have applied all of your zone count settings, click Save at the very bottom of the list. Click Cancel to reset the form. It is highly recommended that you save the configuration and store it on a remote computer. To save your hardwired counts, follow these steps: 1) Click Setup Hardwired Counts. 2) Scroll to the very bottom. (See left) 3) Click Backup and save. To load your hardwired counts, follow these steps: 1) Click Browse. 2) Locate your saved file. 3) Click Restore. 40

HEGA Ethernet Gateway Web Interface Apply/Undo Changes Making changes via the HEGA requires that you also save those changes to the Companion One system. Not only does this allow the feature to work, but it also provides a back up in the rare instance that a HEGA ever needs to be replaced: the plug-and-play feature of the replacement will simply download and install all of network settings and reminders from the backup within the HSCA. Without saving, this backup will not exist and settings may be lost. When changes are pending, you will see the following: Click Apply/Undo Changes in the menu bar at the left: The Apply/Undo Changes screen shows you all of the services and features that have been updated. In the example above, Schedule Reminders has been recently updated. Click Apply Changes to begin saving them to the Companion One system or click Undo Changes to undo all changes made. 41
