Energy-efficient products are more important and more in demand than ever, because saving is the only way to conserve resources and reduce costs. Only consuming energy when it is needed helps the environment Understanding and reducing energy usage The desire to have products that save energy in a simple and convenient manner is growing constantly. In addition, more and more standards and directives demand the use of energy-efficient solutions. 6 Presence detectors for all areas of application Presence detectors automatically switch the light on and off depending on brightness and movement. If required, other loads such as heating and ventilation can also be switched on and off. This is not only convenient but energy efficient as well. Install presence detectors for maximum comfort and efficiency The presence detector senses movement and switches the light on depending on ambient brightness. Unlike a movement detector, it also switches the light back off when the area is bright enough. As a result, the presence detector is especially suitable for rooms that are used for longer periods and that receive a high proportion of daylight. Presence detector system The ARGUS presence detector range from Schneider Electric offers efficient stand-alone and system solutions for the different requirements of your customers: daylight harvesting for consistent brightness by the use of 1-10V and DALI as well as the control of heating or ventilation. 7 Functions Whether in stairwells, meeting rooms or open-plan spaces presence detectors from Schneider Electric are suitable for many different applications. With practical functions, possible settings and large areas of detection, you offer your customers the right solution for energy efficiency and comfort. Using presence detectors can automatically save your customers money Master/Slave Up to 10 masters and 10 slaves can be interconnected via a single core 230V cable. This means long corridors and large stairwells are easy to monitor. Control via a retractive switch The overshoot time that has been set can be activated via a retractive switch. Staircase timer Depending on requirements, the staircase timer can be infinitely adjusted between 10 seconds and 30 minutes. The switchable prewarning function shows the remaining overshoot time 30 seconds before. The brightness of the lighting is kept nearly constant depending on daylight, by dimming the connected lighting group. Remote controllable The ceiling-mounted ARGUS presence detectors can be easily operated with the remote control: switching-maintained light on/off, switching to automatic mode as well as dimming up/down for 1-10V and DALI. Two channels for integrating heating or ventilation The ARGUS Presence relay 2-gang presence detector has a brightness-dependent channel and a brightness-independent channel. The first channel automatically controls the lighting depending on brightness and presence. The second channel controls connected loads such as heating or ventilation depending on presence only. 8 Applications Owing to the number of rooms with various uses, commercial buildings provide plenty of options to achieve high levels of energy-saving potential. The movement and brightness-dependent control of lighting, temperature and ventilation can be perfectly adapted to the user s behaviour. Single office & open plan spaces Optimal conditions for high efficiency Optimum lighting of open plan spaces increases comfort and efficiency. Lights switch on depending on move ment and brightness. Thanks to the daylight harvesting function, lighting is dimmed to a defined light level. In case brightness is sufficient the ARGUS presence detector switches off the lights, even if people are present. Store rooms / rest rooms Plenty of room for energy saving Store rooms or rest rooms are among the least-used spaces. It is easy to forget to turn off the lights when leaving such rooms, making a presence detector a very efficient solution. 9 Corridor Conference room Presence detectors with two channels offer high convenience with maximum energyefficiency Security in frequently used walkways If the presence detectors are installed one by one and linked together, lighting for the entire corridor is secured, regardless from which side it is entered. As soon as the presence detector ceases to register any movement, the lights are switched off. This simple solution provides dual efficiency as it increases security whilst reducing electricity costs. The sensor module detects moving heat sources (e.g. people) within an adjustable area of detection and starts a staircase timer. The sensor module is equipped with a light sensor with an adjustable brightness threshold so that the lighting is only switched on when a specified brightness threshold is not met. When there is sufficient natural light, the presence function allows the sensor module to switch off the lighting even when a person is present.
